Tailor is a must if you apply for a product company. If you apply for an agency I kinda find the opposite, what will biased them is the fact if you have design skills up there and detailed. A lot of recruiters are designers ( if it’s not a big agency) but for all the rest just tailor. I finally entered a big gaming company with 0 exp in gaming just in UX in general and I did a whole portfolio for gaming, in the end I have sent my “digital portfolio” so they can see what I did outside of games. Got the job! After 2 years of struggling to get in. So never give up guys

Design your career is a very good advice that I hadn't heard before. I am very good at planning my 3 years down the line as things change so much but maybe having a plan that can be adjustable for 5-10 years can actually make me feel calm and make me remember the long-term focus. Thank you.

More in depth videos on getting into emerging tech would be cool! Even reviewing more of these unique portfolio case studies on web3/extended reality/crypto, etc.

What do you do about not field expertise, but something like b2c vs b2b expertise? I feel that simple consumer apps might not provide good evidence that you'd be good at complex interaction design of SaaS applications, for example. What do you recommend to break into other types of design to get that breadth experience? (besides working at an agency where you may not know what you're going to work on)

Crypto verse is a huge ecosystem simulates the traditional ecosystem but mostly decentralised.
Depending on the crypto projects you worked on, good to include a good variety of web3 marketing/social, DeFi, payment and NFT marketplace in your portfolio. You’ll be gold

This is a timely episode for me and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. I am also reading your book and appreciate your insights on the UX career path! Thank you for creating a resource that goes into depth, especially the skills inventory. Is there a digital version of it that I can download and markup?

Your content has really helped me over the past few months. I was wondering something and I was hoping you could help me out.
So I recently graduating with my BS in psychology and will start my MS in data science this fall. I did a research project during my undergrad ( it was only me working on it but I did have a professor assist me through the process) the project was finding the Relationship between Intramural, Club, and University Student-Athletes’ Belongingness and Sport Motivation during COVID-19.
I was wondering if I can use that project on my UX portfolio or even my project presentation since that is my only official research project I have done so far. Although the project wasnt testing a product in any way but I still had to create an interview schedule for the participants and analyze/interpret the data.
    Thank you!

Hey you absolutely should. BUT you will need to cover 1) user research focused to arrive at the solution/enhancements to the current scenarios the target groups face, 2) appropriate ideation and prioritisation efforts, 3) solution prototype at minimum where you test it on said people. This will mean you'll need to get your head down yet again and almost run a separate project to take that research and do something with it - make the user experience better. What you have is great, but make sure to add a UX layer on top to come up with the evidence that you can do the UX job.

@@vaexperience is there any website or even you can help me with my resume? I have ran it thru a couple of ants scanners and the results haven’t been positive.

Thank you very much! Always appreciate your videos.
For someone trying to get their first job in UX/UI field. Would you focus on the amount of conceptual projects or the depth of each one? I am on my first project and it is taking me a couple of months, but I am going very deep with it. Not so much on the research, but on the amount of screens required as if it were a real project, without skipping screens.

No research = no UX. Make sure you don't trap yourself in UI design world entirely

Metaverse is still in its infant VR stage. Look into that and how immersion VR driven experiences that are social could be approached

I want to apply for a Product Design role in a Code Editor startup (VS Code, Vim is the competitor). I am not able to figure out what Case Study should I have in my portfolio? Can you please advice. Thank you.

Pick the company/product > do background research and frame the problem(s) > run user research to see how you can solve those problems > ideate > prioritise > design > user test. Document along the way
