    Still very effective horror vibe after 45 years. A genuine alien creepiness within the enormous horseshoe mothership. Ridley Scott did a fantastic job with this production at such a young age. Too bad he was incapable of recreating this tension level ever again. Hopefully Romulus delivers!!!

    I wished in the remake they would have slightly updated the displays to show more detail. Also to show what the alien transmission (warning) looked like after being decoded. And as for the MUTHUR (Mu/Theta/Ur 6000) AI unit. A slightly modded display on the screens showing Dallas the decoded transmission, the directive that sent the Nostromo to LV-426, whoever at Weyland Yutani signed off on it, (Like Carter Burke did later in Aliens) and the directive programmed into Ash. It would have made an already tense situation a lot more unsettling and would show the lengths that Weyland Yutani would go to obtaining either Engineer technology, the Xenomorph, or both.

    Victoria Cartwright said that Ridley Scott wanted more anger out of the scene when Ripley joins the rest of them observing Kane. He told her to slap Weaver hard. But he didn't tell Weaver. So she was really shocked and angry at that slap and was ready to beat the trap out of Cartwright.

    "The Eighth Passenger" was, in fact, the sub-title given to the film upon its 1979 release in cinemas in Poland. "Obcy - ósmy pasażer Nostromo" - i.e.: "Alien - the Eighth Passenger of the Nostromo". I wondered, as a child, if including the "Nostromo" in the sub-title was a deliberate choice, due to Joseph Conrad / Józef Korzeniowski being Polish. (The answer is... unknown. It has been lost in time, like a derelict ship on a lonely planetoid).

  • @anonuser1
    @anonuser1 9 месяцев назад +2

    Here's what I never understood and would be thrilled to receive a meaningful explanation - if Kane's faceplate is compromised, how does he survive in outer space during the evacuation trek back to the ship? Wouldn't all his blood cells boil and his body implode? What's keeping alive? You can argue that the facehugger has created a vacuum against his throat cavity, but that doesn't mitigate the rest to extreme space conditions. Anyone?

    • @jamesfrench7299
      @jamesfrench7299 9 месяцев назад +4

      The planet's got atmospheric pressure, not vacuum. The creature is feeding him oxygen and the suit probably kept him warm enough.

    I'ts clear to see that they improvised a lot and a lot of the deleted stuff didn't add any value or truthful meaning to the Story and therefore I understand now why they were edited out of the movie as unnecessary
    Without the movie is more compact and to the point and therefore more exciting

      It would have been the case... however, Ash had been manipulating and sabotaging the entirety of the mission before it even began. His "helpful" suggestions and "useful" solutions directed multiple fateful steps of the crew, and changed those which would have proven advantageous and beneficent.

    Prometheus could have made a proper sequel to Alien if the ending is the Engineer who on his way to destroy Earth, crash landed on that planet because he was infected by the face hugger, which resulted in a Queen Alien who later on laid the eggs and died. And the reason of why the Nostromo team is send to that planet is because Mother/Company has been looking for the Alien lifeform as they knew many years ago Peter Weyland and the Prometheus team went to search for it and never returned.
