- In 1956, actress Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier of Monaco, and her magical transformation seemed like a fantasy. Only, all was not as it seemed. Kelly infamously died in a car crash-but few know the truth about that dark day.

The accent that Grace Kelly learned was not a "faux" British accent, it was called the Transatlantic Accent, which was developed by American voice and drama professor, Dudley Knight, to refine the accents of American socialites and film actors of the time, as was the fashion.
It's Mid-Atlantic accent.
@@user-cc6nb5th6x my understanding is that both are correct.
@@clarissathompson ok thanks for the correction. Good to know.
While we're talking about speech in movies, I wish some form of the Mid-Atlantic would resurface. A more modern iteration. So many latter day actors seem to mumble. Thoughts?
The actors and actresses were trained to have a,"coached" voice for years. You're absolutely right!!
The accident that killed Grace was initially reported that and Stephanie admitted that she was at the wheel and was distracted because she was arguing with her mother as she was driving. Because she survived the crash and could be charged criminally and public outrage at her for causing the death of her mother, then suddenly the story changed to Grace driving, despite witnesses stating otherwise.
At the time of Grace's marriage, many wealthy Americans were buying up castles & estates and marrying titled European Royalty who had fallen on hard times. Many of Europe's Royalty had lost everything during the war or were deposed.
That’s just a tale for sensationalism
I remember it this the same way. The switch around.
Grace Kelly and Queen Elizabeth had an affair. Queen Elizabeth had Grace Kelly killed in a car accident so she wouldn't talk.
Slow down a tiny bit. Great info.
Sorry can’t listen to the orater. Too fast and high pitched nasal to tell a biography story.
In the words of the song....'' Good girls go to Heaven...Bad girls go every where''.
Please, please, is there a narrator out there who will review pronunciations in advance and at least ATTEMPT to say names and words correctly? Or think about grammar? Let's start with Ray 'Milland' and 'Cannes' and 'marriage don't mean anything.'
That is the Hollywood view
Yes, it should be pronounouced, Ray Mil-land' with accent on the second syllable, as in, "mil-lawned". Cannes Film Festival, like the city is a French proper noun, said like "Con". Will you younger folks please do a little more prep before mispronouncing so many names and words on your podcasts?
The family that adopted me had two daughters that were much older than me. One of the twins was a beauty queen and an athelete. Everyone said she looked just like Grace Kelly. When I saw a pictures of Grace Kelly I couldnt believe how much Janet looked like Grace. I found out later that Janet was adopted also and her biological father's last name was Kelly.
Wow. Anyway you could have that investigated? With dna maybe?
Party girl marries into the Grimaldi gambling empire, but finds money won't keep her warm at nite. Shocker.
It’s pronunciation is similar to our English word CAN. CAN or CON Film Festival. Anything but CAIN! LOL!!
One minute of this womans voice and im out
Yep. Dreadful narrator rattling off the script at 200 miles per hour and mispronouncing words.
CAN Film festival not CAYNE!
Narrator speaks a bit to fast, otherwise, great video as always.
I personally don’t believe Grace ever didn’t marry a man, or was heartbroken, because her parents didn’t approve. She’d have done it anyway if she’d really wanted to, she obviously did whatever she wanted.
Yes she grew tired of them. She seems rather narcissistic
She got really fed up with her father. I hope she finally got to see him for what he was, coercive and controlling. Weak men always display those two aspects of their personalities. Weak women too.
An you slow down a little?
"Canes" Film Festival LOL
Lovely visuals! Long-time fan of Grace Kelly. I think her father didn't give her a chance. Of course, I don't agree with her many affairs but there were definately family issues. Rainier was a total creep. I don't think he felt regret until he lost Grace and the star power she had. Visited Monaco many times and her presence can still be felt much like Princess Diana's. Lovely presentation. Just would have added a bit of Stewart Granger in the Green Fire film. Don't believe they had any affair but in his autobiography, he mentions how truly beautiful she was. KUDOS to Factinate ! :)
So what if she had lots of relationships? Just the same as countless male leading actors. As long as she didn’t continue after her marriage it’s her business.
Only imagine how she missed her Hollywood life in this golden cage, pretending GOOD princess from fairy tale.
Great biography!
this is my new favorite channel.
Mine too. I just found it a couple days ago and have already watched a good amount of their vids and shorts. Every one of them being very informative and interesting.
or were they passing her around like a piece of meat because thats what it took to be in a movie?
Listen to get in an interview she, at times, sounded slightly gentle Irish.
She did have a lot of affairs
Killed in a ritual I break down with Numbers. That's why Dial M for Murder came out on the 149th day of the year, she died on 14/9.
I red about it long time ago.
I always thought her marrying this man was the biggest mistake she ever made
Agreed. If she'd been allowed to marry either of the first two men she wanted to marry, I think she would have been happier. She could have continued acting instead of being kept in a gilded cage
He marrying her was too. He was royalty. She had affairs with so many
She literally married him because he was the prince, not out of love.
Me too I and Hitchcock wanted her to make more movies
With her reputation she belonged to bonga- bonga Hollywood. Pretty and immoral.
I say Hells yeah lady! A woman who embraces who she is & including her sensuality!
Middle aged and married. Gross. ALL of her leading men were old enough to be her grandads. Same w/ Audery
SO? Age is just a number dahhhling.
Audrey didn't sleep with these granddads.
Onassis apparently pushed Rainer to marry because he needed an heir and they were trying to upgrade Monaco. Wasn’t much different from Charles marrying Diana knowing he loved someone else.
Your commentary is snappy and fun :)
Prince proposed to Marylin 1st, she declined. He wanted marriage w/ actress for financial reasons, to raise Monoque's profile in world
Of course not. 😂😂😂
She died like in the movie itvtskes a thrift driving on French Riviera
What is the narrator 12? 😂
❗Enjoyed your bubbly personality, commentary and respect you enough to say it's The Kahn (pronunciation) Film Festival, the Grandaddy, extremely relevant and held annually in Cannes, France. Another high cost of the marriage was the million dollar "dowry" Mr.Kelly paid the Prince.😉
I absolutely loved this informative and entertaining video. The narrator made was a great touch. 👏👏👏
Well.... not really. She speaks too fast.
Did anyone keep their clothes on in the 30's and 40's? Hollywood was the biggest orggie.
The snarky comments on Grace Kelly’s sex life are immature. I noticed so many biographies are nasty. She was ahead of her time.
You haven't included the $2 million dowry Princess Grace's family had to pay before she married.
I enjoyed your upload, it's ashame you had to talk so fast. I understand RUclips uploads get more views is they are close to 10 minutes in length.
That’s like an old fashioned dowry. Did Rainier ask for it? Or did her father just donate it? Awful.
Ranier and the Principality of Monaco were bankrupt at the time of their marriage, so her dowry was a necessary cash infusion to put on the wedding and to avoid the banks from seizing some of his assets. Plus no one out of anyone of the Royal Houses in Europe wanted to marry him or couldn't afford to, since he needed a large influx of cash to keep things moving.
At one point Ari Onassis heard about their dire financial straits and offered to buy the Kingdom in a sort of partnership deal, but still let Rainier & Grace keep their titles and run things, however they declined because of their distrust of his motives.
Grace's contacts in the movie industry as a movie location for filming and a bit of advertising for tourism to mix with celebrities is what finally improved their finances.
It was reported Prince Rainer asked her father for a $1 million dowry before he asked for her hand. Grace didn't find out until the night before her wedding. No wonder she looked so sad. Can you imagine?? Awful
It sucks how marriage should not be the feeling of being “stuck” vs a partner of a lifetime….
Your accent actually sounded slightly Irish at times but she married into royalty and she knew the deal. You have to be all in not 1/2 in 1/2 out. There are rules with being royal but she only married Rainier for his title
I can’t believe she won the Oscar over Judy Garland. What a travesty.
Come on! She was the Hollywood it girl of her generation. She was in the candy store. How many of us would do the same? There’s no comparison to men like Harvey Weinstein and bill cosby
She sounded more like a floozy than IT girl. She his behind the facade of virgin
But she targetted married men do it sort of was predatory behaviour
I t may not be true. But some women only go for attached men. It means they have the best of both worlds. A man in their life for a couple of days a week(with the odd W-end away) and freedom the rest of the time, especially if they don’t want children. Sounds good to me! 🤣
Vulgar post.
The
Yellow press pages reading.
I love this narrator! 😂
If this was a horror story for the predator, imagine how Grace's victims felt !
What are you even talking about? She didn't have victims. Any of those men could have honored their marriages and said "no" . Maybe if she'd been allowed to marry either of the first 2 men she wanted to marry she'd been happier.😢
How they felt? They were LUCKY!! They felt good, more than likely!
EXACTLY! Grace did what she wanted to, and those men did too. @@TurquoiseInk
A narrator, you're not.
What a vulgar narrator….very gossipy and crass and immature.
