These restraints unfortunately are necessary Jessie Rae, I've been on the side where as a prison guard I've had to restrain a prisoner. It's for everyone's safety and isn't barberic. Please don't criticize unless you have figured out some wonderful new way to keep everyone safe.

Also each provider who is allowing this should have to spend 24 hrs like this
    Your method will change.

Hi Jessie. We are teaching medical personnel how to effectively and safely apply "soft restraints" (which do not cause injury) to patients who are totally out of control and combative when there is no sedative medication available. For instance, when a person is experiencing excited delirium. If not, these patients would not be able to be safely transported to the hospital. In addition, this method helps to ensure a proper airway and to place the person in the proper position in order to avoid positional asphyxiation. This is also a short-term method from the scene to the hospital where restraints are removed after transport. If we did not teach the proper method of soft restraint applications- both responders and patients would be injured. This method is used to protect both.

I have in my younger years had to be placed in 4 point restraints similar position as this and from experience I can tell you I was left in this position at times for longer than 5 hours and is the main reason why my arms cannot extend above my head without pain even after I have gone through massage therapy. So I don’t think the one up one down arm restraining is safe from a patient perspective

Ross Johnson as someone who was restrained “ for behavior modification “
I would spend days in them. Mind I haven’t been restrainted since 2012 but bc of a hospital I gave up on fighting back and accepted it was ok what they did. But it’s not I have Ptsd now bc of it.

      @@amberwalters8458 what do you mean?
As a person who has been at the receiving end of being restrained both to help me & those who used their " power " in acute settings to do more harm than good. I beleive I have a valid point & argument against restraints. No one should be subjected to them.

Ok then what about the people who beat themselves up without a restraint, and also what about the first responders who get attacked from their patients if they are not restrained? Law enforcement clearly used restraints especially within a jail to calm an inmate, which I gurantee is more forceful and painful than an ems restraint.

And also your essentially saying that every paramedic is a horrible person for using these restraints.

@@amberwalters8458 I cant change a mind ( yours ) already made. I'm saying all physicians need to be better educated around them. So please stop putting words in my mouth. You don't know what I've been through & with your Attitude I doubt you will ever understand.
