I am very glad that the video helped you. This is probably the worst engineered filter that was ever sold. They named it the 2000 series because that is how high your blood pressure will get while trying to put the lid back on! But once you learn the trick you can avoid having a stroke ;)
I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate your taking time to make and post this video! Yesterday, I struggled for over an hour taking apart our Pentair 2000 to clean it and many more hours trying my best to get that lid back on. After about 4 hours of trying, I gave up frustrated beyond belief. Stumbled on your video while looking for a pool service. Got the silicone spray today and had the lid on in under 20 minutes. I can' t thank you enough. You, sir, are a lifesaver!!
Question, I have the same filter model, but the backwash valve not working, I did a mistake when cleaning the filter, I removed the cap, top part and let water fill it up and backwash towards the top, and also the dirty water went back to the pool and pool is now dirty with the old DE, Messy and cloudy pool now. What do to?
Thanks Again! The third time was a charm. I filled it up, it started leaking, turned it off, took the clamp off and looked for the leak as it was sucking air... I found a pin-hole leak on the edge of the lid, fixed it with liquid weld, lubed the bottom of the connection up again and seem all tight. Thanks again for all your advice and help. You've made a subscriber out of me!
Glad to help. I think I have filmed just about all the filter types you will run into. With time you will be able to tear them down very quickly and efficiently. I clean about 200 or so a year but I do struggle with a few of the more challenging ones. The lid on this one always gives me trouble (it is slightly warped).
Thanks so much for this video! Getting the lid off and on this filter was by far the biggest chore of my pool care...until I found this video. Now I can break down and clean my filter in 30 minutes and my kids aren't learning anymore choice words from dad when the #$&* lid wouldn't come off (or go back on)! And your black algae trick with the tri-chlor powder changed my life. My pool is totally under control and looks awesome all the time now. I haven't found a problem that you have not covered yet. Thanks so much for all the effort you put in to making these videos.
Haven't heard of that trick before. I will have to try it. I think yours is the original model that didn't have a backwash valve. I have seen some of those before long ago... they used to make filters with a small tank beside the filter to hold all the DE after you backwashed it too. The good old days! Thanks for the tip.
Thank you so much for these videos dude. I've been struggling with lid removal and to a lesser degree reinstall because I trusted my pool guy who said we needed to use our muscle to do both, which I did. You've added peace to my life!
Initially my lid clamp would not come off. Then I saw in your video that the knob had to be completely removed. Now I am reviewing because I can not get the backwash lever to move and I want to make sure I am doing it right. Guess I am going to have to use the second method. THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO - showing how to keep the earth out of the manifold, the notches align and theTRUE explaination of the difficulty of replacing the lid.
I have to say of all the pool instructional videos out there, yours are by far the best. Extremely thorough. Plus, you post video of your own struggles with different processes. It humanizes you and makes me feel better about myself LOL. Best pool instructional videos out there. Thanks!
Nice. It's a tough filter if you don't know the tricks that go with it. Luckily for me an Old Time pool guy who had 40 years of experience trained me when I first started in the business and showed me this lid trick. Just passing it forward.
Thanks a million for sharing your expertise!! I did this procedure today and followed your instructions. Worked perfectly!! One note: the red-line o-ring seal is now called a blue-line. Thanks!!!!
Just subbed. Your video helped me immensely! It is detailed and to the point. I've always feared doing this myself. Had a neighbor help the first time, but struggled to get the lid off and forget about putting it back on! Neighbor didn't know about the water trick. Now I'm able to do the filter change myself with help from your wonderful video! Very grateful you shared this with us!
Great info, I’m so glad I found this video prior to trying to clean my filter. The removing the lid part was the biggest take away and saved a lot of time and frustration. Thanks again
Btw my filter is on concrete floor just a few feet away from my pool, and my backwash lever is frozen, over filling Filter and allowing the remainder DE it is not an option. As it would just pour on to concrete floor. I was able to take my wet-vac and had it suck the water as I used my hose to break down the remain DE, this prevented water from entering the manifold bottom and getting back to pool,, It left it spotless 😊 Thanks again
This is a pretty easy filter to diagnose. It it either the grids have a hole in them or the bottom manifold is cracked. The last possibility is the rotor valve on the bottom - but this will be DE on starting the pump and it usually stops after a minute or two. If you put a scoop of DE in the skimmer and it shoots right back out it is probably a broken grid or bottom manifold.
Hi! I also have a Triton 2000 and it is leaking from the bottom. We turned everything off and still leaking. Can you tell me what the possible causes are and if they are DIY fixes? WE're going to try to sell the house as is but need to make it a few months (of course we'll disclose but I think the next owner will likely want to redo everything). Thank you!
Love the neat trick with using the water pressure to get the lid off and on. Saved us so much time (ours cooperated and got it on first try). Thanks for the video!
Great videos 👍🏼 on this style filter do you need to recharge it full with water again if the lid isn’t coming on quickly? And when you shut off the timer does the begin to reseed creating suction? Thanks 🙏
Yes, to get the lid back on turn on the filter until water spills over. If necessary open the backwash valve to great quicker suction to suck that lid on.
You just have to reset the bottom manifold onto the bottom of the tank. It needs to be snug on top the rotor valve part down there. Maybe it isn't set correctly back in your tank. It should sit very snug on the bottom.
Hello, cool video. When the rotor valve backwash not working. How to avoid the return line goes back to the pool (dirty water)?? I open already the lid cap and the water is filling up the tank now. Should I turn off the motor?? I don’t want DE dirt in my pool
Question: my client has a very old Pentair 2000 series. Her air pressure release (bleeder)does not turn to let the air out of the filter tank. So what am I to do to get the top lid off? Will the top of the filter shoot (pop) up aggressively and cause bodily harm if close by?
great video, i started to take mine apart and have a look inside glad i changed my mind and checked out your video first! our pool heater keeps flicking on and off i am assuming its not getting enough flow so suspect the filter is full especially since we just added one of those mini pool cleaners that attaches to the existing filter, its probably super dirty inside.
That you for this awesome video, I have this exact filter and it’s getting really old, the backwash lever is no longer working, what DE filter would you recommend as a replacement for this filter?
Would be a great time to go to a cartridge filter. A Pentair Clean & Clear 420. If you like this filter a Pentair 4000 series is a direct update of the 2000 series.
I think I talked about this when I was filming the 4000 series filter. I dropped the wing nut once and had to take the filter apart again to get it. Lucky it was a 48 sq ft one. A pool guy suggested I put it on upside down so not to drop it. Since my hands are usually wet & I can be clumsy anyway it was a great idea. I haven't dropped one since - just a poolman trick that I stole ;)
Thanks for the great video on this filter and yes my blood pressure is about 2000 right now. I have cleaned this filter myself for years and still learned from this video. My question is, my cap o-ring is swollen and I couldn't get the cap on (didn't use your method) so I bought new red line o-ring. Cap went on no problem but now it leaks. Any suggestions?
Omg that is hilarious. My blood pressure is also 2000. I’ve assisted my father for many years cleaning the filter. But now that I’m up to bat. I’m just afraid of something blowing up. Thank you, for the good chuckle.
Today, i cleaned my pool filter by your method. I followed every step and it was awesome. I even used your method when the backwash valve didn't open. However, i have a question. I have noticed that i need to bleed the air continously after cleaning. I even changed the o-ring. Is this normal, Also, when i used your second method of backwasing. some earth went into the valve at the bottom. I couldn't do anything about it. The pool did get a bit cloudy but it cleared. My concern is the bleeding. Is air entering from other places. The lid is sealed very well and clamp is secured very tight. Please give me your suggestions. thanks
Sounds like a suction leak from somewhere in the pump area of the pool and air is entering the filter. Could be something as simple as the pump lid o-ring. Do you notice any water leaking at the equipment area? DE blow back is normal when the backwash is not working. It settles to the bottom and can simply be vacuumed up.
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL my valve is not working, when I backwashes the filter fill up with water and drained on the top but then I turn off the pump and the dE went back to the pool, is dirty and cloudy now. What to do? Or avoid this mistake?
Maybe your pump impeller is clogged up. Take the pump lid off and try spinning the impeller. I have a video posted on this in my "Pool Pump Not Working" playlist on my Channel. It is video number four in the playlist.
Been following your de older model. Have had unit for 31 years now with no issues and it’s still running fine. The release valve has been leaking at the hex nut. Do i need a gasket or just tighten? Thank you, John
Thanks for reply below. So let the water run as much as possible for 3 minutes at least, and some DE will go back to pool.. now, for leftover DE In tank filter underneath how to clean this? Water hose and then Fill up again with water, turn on and off the system??
Great video. I go through this twice a year on my circa 1980 Purex filter. It's good to see I'm doing it just about the same but I got some good tips from this vid. One thing I do is lube the grid pipes so they come out easier. Are all the grids the same size on this unit or is there one smaller grid? I like the silicone spray idea. Less messy than smearing on magic lube.
DUDE, Great video, I have a Purex Triton 2000 witch seem to be exactly like the one in the video. I have holes in my filter veins and I didn't know how to remove them, Thanks for the help , probably saved me spending big buck replacing all the plastic pieces inside. plus I'll try the water suction trick, Thanks a MILLION
Question. Great video. Its the only video that shows how to clean your grids without a backwash. I just cleaned mine out yesterday before attempting to clean my very filthy pool. I added the DE and ran it for 24 hrs after shocking it. I notice the pressure meter went up from 150 to 180 so I think I have to clean it out again. Now, do I just take the lid off and run the pump till the water come out clear or should i have to take the grids out again and hose them down? BTW, my pump and filter are under a deck and its a pain to keep taking them out and putting them back in but if i have to, I guess I have no choice. I know im gonna have to do this atleast 2 more times.
+Liquor “N” .Poker You can try running it like that but in a traditional backwash the grids fill up with water and push the debris off - if your rotor valve is broken the only thing you can do is take the grids out and hose them off. However if you switch to Perlite filter media it comes off easier than DE so maybe opening the lid and running it will work in your case.
I had developed a leak in the backwash valve (multi-port or crossover valve) so the water constantly dribbled out the pipe. Being a cheap bastard I opted to glue a big PVC ball valve on the backwash drain pipe to stop the leak during normal operation. Then the discovery of a lifetime! When the ball valve is closed and the valve is in "backwash" position the pressure and vacuum for is incredible for popping and re-seating the lid! Save yourself some aggravation and put a ball valve on the backwash outlet pipe and the lid will become the easiest thing you do; not the hardest. You can leave the ball valve closed during normal operation. Just move the lever to backwash mode and hte lid will pop in 10 seconds. Same goes for the seating of the lid... juet run the punp to fill the can till it overflows and shut off the motor just the way you've been doing. This time get your thumb going around the seal and pushing it in as you go. The lid will suck down in 15 - 20 seconds every time. Just remember to open the ball valve when you do an actual backwash.
Thanks this helped a lot! The house I moved into has this exact filter and it has no labeling on it, so I was able to identify it from your video. One issue I've had is when I backwashed, a small broken o-ring came out. Not sure where it belongs. When I cleaned the filter and pulled out the grids, I saw another small broken o-ring at the bottom. My filter has a small leak from the bottom, and I suspect its because of those o-rings. My question is, do you know where those o-rings go so I can replace them? Thank you!
Thanks for tuning in. Those o-rings are pretty hard to replace. It requires cutting the tank off and removing the bottom part. If you just purchased the house it may be covered under the home warranty.
@@SPL of course it starts leaking after the home warranty expires! 🤦🏻♂️ I found a manual online with the part numbers and ordered some new o-rings. I'm gonna give it a try before spending $1k on a new filter. Yep, I got cut it out, but I'll put it back using unions. Thanks for responding!
Why would the O ring be the issue? Rubbers can shrink in extremes, not expand. Why would the Oring be the reasoning? Great video! you have helped me tackle this beast of a 70sf filter that I cannot even reach the bottom of. Maybe open the bottom valve will help increase the suction buildup? Maybe sand down the paint, and some of that lip? I am not saying it isn't the oring, just why?
Yes, you can fill the tank and then open the backwash to create extra suction. The O-ring needs to be precise for this lid - even a little bit off can make the lid nearly impossible to get on. Thanks for the great feedback.
@@SPL I had 3 vise grips last time, and channel locks, so I fastened the lid with one visegrip locked on, and moved around. PAIN in the butt. This time I just ordered a new Oring, lets see if it makes a difference :-)
@@SPL OK, I ordered a couple Orings, and one was $10 which was slightly thicker, and it took great effort to fit. I replaced it with another make and that went smoother. BUT, the physics of it requires one to put a full coverage amount of lube in the channel the Oring sits, on the Oring, and some on the lip of the lid. Silicon spray was not as easy as the pool-lube. The reason is because the Oring needs to slide back in and fill the empty spaces as you push the lid over it. I used 2 ViseGrips and 2 C clamps. this got it on. The suction actually never occurs to help get the lid on. As the lid cannot form a seal and no suction is happening.
Thanks a lot for all the great videos you posted so far. They are very helpful and informative. I also have a question, I followed all the steps and clean my Pentair 2048 filter, I also took the black plastic part at the bottom of filter and washed it, put it back, but now when I turn on the pump water doesn't flow into the filter. Pump is working, but there is no neither to the basket or filter. any suggestion?
Sounds like the pump just lost it's prime. Sometimes when you take the filter apart air gets in the line. Try sticking a garden hose in the skimmer hole and turning it on while holding a rag around it to seal it off. That should fill up the suction pipe. Manually priming your pump: ruclips.net/video/oshWO3zq17o/видео.html
Thanks so much for the video! I'd never owned a pool before and my new house came with the Pentair 2k. I do notice that my pressure rises in 30 days or so, I backwash and the pressure come back in about 30 days again... Suggestions? Also, your video doesn't show you connecting the breather tube to the valve.. Do you usually connect the tube directly to the valve? Again, many thanks!!!
It could be that the grids are going bad. The fibers could be clogged even after a cleaning. My guess is that the grids are old. As far as the breather tube it just sits in the filter and is connected to the bottom manifold. It is pretty much useless in these filters as it is always caked up with DE. Not sure why they even bother with them. There should be a little cap on the end of that plastic tubing. It probably broke off if you don't see one. I think you can only buy it as a complete set with new tubing. www.amazon.com/Pentair-075279-46-Inch-Replacement-Series/dp/B003ZTL2VY/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1409016533&sr=1-1-fkmr1&keywords=Pentair+Vent+Tube+Screen+Cap+for+SM+%26+SMBW+2000+%26+4000+Series
Also, how long does it take for DE to be diluted. I have the Pentair 2000 exactly the same one on the video. I put 8 scoops as you mentioned. I put it in the skimmer and got diluted pretty quick. There was no DE from the return. After the pump runing for about 3 hours. This morning i checked the pump basket and it was cloudy water. I am not sure if this normal or is there something wrong. How long does it take to not any cloudy water in the pump basket. thanks
If there is air in the line and filter when it turns off some DE will get pulled back into the suction line. It is normal. Water will be pulled down by gravity if there is an air pocket formed in the filter. Nothing to worry about. Once the pool starts the dirty water in the pump basket gets pulled into the filter. Until the DE gets clay like again you will see this.
David what’s the original age of these and how long were they manufactured? Gotta client who refuses to replace it? And I’m now refusing to service it. But I wanted to get a date. PurexTriton 2000 series from pacfab. It’s nuts I’m still popping tops off these. I actually sit my tool bag on the lid before I blow it.
All I can say is back in 1988 they were around. I believe they still made them up intil the mid-2000's - maybe sell him a used filter. Anything is better.
Hello, I cleaned the grids already, now about to put DE into skimmer, when I turn on the system, no water is flowing into the filter tank, in the pvc flowing valve, I see no water movement, the motor is running empty I guess. I hear noise. What to,do?
Hey man got a question for ya, if you don’t mind. I recently replaced a compression ring on one of these filter cause it was leaking from underneath. It was obvious that the ring needed replacing but the leak continues and looks like its coming right from the handle. Would replacing that small O ring above that handle take care of that. ? Could that be the cause of the leak still? Thanks man
HI, what is the brand of magic loob or silicone spray you mentioned, or can I buy something similar? BTW the that trick to putting the lid back on is awesome, will try it out, my son and husband both were putting it on without that trick, and it took two people, and he also used DW40 on it
Like everyone else I thank you so much for your videos. I am a new pool owner and I find your videos the best! I have the same problem as Brian S. Seems my new Redline O Ring is leaking. just a little bit from the front and back seams / connector. Any ideas? Happy Holidays and thanks for your help.
+Bradford Simonsen I suggest changing the o-ring if you haven't and then lubing it up like crazy with "Magic Lube" - found online or at your local pool store. I suspect the lid is slightly warped, as that happens when they get old. With the magic lube it will create a nice tight seal.
You can purchase them on Amazon or at your local pool store. I am not allowed to share direct links here but just Google: Pentair Element 4048 if your filter is 48 sq ft. If it is 60 sq ft then Element 4060. 36 sq ft then Element 4036. These are the correct grids your filter type.
I have the Purex filter SMWB 2060 and bought these on ebay, they are the unicel FG-1260 for $127.00, free shipping that's about $16.00 each. Leslie's was $32.00 each.
Why my pool lost about 3 inches of water in less than a minute after backwashing my sand filter when I turned back the valve on filter position? It also not priming at all :((
It's a tough job. Cut the filter off, remove grids and bottom manifold and then from inside the filter remove the bolts. Really not worth the expense or trouble and a new filter is easier.
Hello, I cleaned my filter a Purex trinton 2000, it seemed like all ok but after done, there is little to no pressure on the valve, and it does not seem like it is shooting out the powder, I vacuumed the pool and it did not shoot the trash I was picking up but after a day of running the filter with only 3 psi there is dirt on the pool, any tips, Please - Thanks
does it hurt to just take the grids out of the filter and wash them off and put back in, clean out the barrel too. or do you have add that earth stuff? thanks!
so i did all that, pump ran for 2 hours on '4' speed. was clean as could be. checked out your rainbow 320 feeder video and opened it up and checked level, turned pump on 1 speed to fill the tablets, once filled to tablet level i put the lid back on. bumped up speed to 4 again...noticed cloudy water coming out of pool returns for 2-3 min, and one return is sending out tons of tiny bubbles which ive never seen. any advice?
When cleaning my pentair 2000 series I tried pulling out the planks but the whole thing came out including the manifold I have very little or no suction now and there is DE in my pool
That is the o-ring in the rotor. A pretty tough job. You have to cut the filter out, remove the rotor and replace the o-ring. Better off changing the filter at that point.
+gerardo lopez This filter actually has the top manifold on the bottom. Take out all grids and then pull it off of the bottom and inspect - it should come off easily. See if there are any cracks.
The tank can last a very long time. Newer ones are fiberglass and Pentair just stopped making the Stainless Steel ones last year - although I bet you can still find a new one somewhere. Those tanks lasted decades - 30-40 years. The Fiberglass are good - figure 20 years. The internals wear out so figure grids every 5 years and manifolds every 5-8 years.
Not sure but when I started in 1988 a lot of customers had them and they were already pretty old. The older units also came with a separate smaller tank to catch the D.E. in it with a cloth bag. Very messy. So I would like to say the late 70's early 80's. That was a long time ago. I still have about eight of these on my route.

There is a gasket in there accessed from the lid bottom. If not sealing I've used silicone sealant before.
I just bought a route and need to start cleaning my filters...thx for the helpful videos!!!
At least ever six months. Purex 2000 series Lid Red Line O-Ring (Filter) 71442, O-86
Awesome. I definitely need to switch to Perlite. Just saw your video on the comparisons of DE and Perlite. Makes alot of sense. Thanks alot.
Gleaned every word and proved to be right on!
All great discoveries are by accident - nice job! Thanks for sharing. 😜👍
This video really helped me save $ by cleaning my own filter, many thanks!
How do you determine how many scoops of DE to put in the pool using 1 lbs of scoop?

Thx. for the video. Do you have a video on how to replace the manifold assy.on these units?
It just pops off the bottom. Remove the center rod and then pull up firmly on the bottom manifold. It will come right off.
I use channel lock to hwlp get the lid back on after your suction technique. Timesaver
Hello, I cleaned the grids already, now about to put DE into skimmer, when I turn on the system, no water is flowing into the filter tank, in the pvc flowing valve, I see no water movement, the motor is running empty I guess. I hear noise. What to,do?
My pool filter id leaking from the backwash PVC pipe, is it worth fixing? I need to make a decision of fixing it or getting a new filter pump.
You can just install a ball valve on the end of the backwash pipe or if you have the resources, a new filter is the best solution.
Thank you very much!
I’ve seen another video where a guy releases the backwash handle first and then remove the pump lid .
Is this method ok?
You can do that.
thank one quik question where can you get that filter glide of that model
Any store or online outlet will sell them. Google:
Pentair SMBW 4000 Series Filter Grids
Hey man got a question for ya, if you don’t mind. I recently replaced a compression ring on one of these filter cause it was leaking from underneath. It was obvious that the ring needed replacing but the leak continues and looks like its coming right from the handle. Would replacing that small O ring above that handle take care of that. ? Could that be the cause of the leak still? Thanks man
HI, what is the brand of magic loob or silicone spray you mentioned, or can I buy something similar? BTW the that trick to putting the lid back on is awesome, will try it out, my son and husband both were putting it on without that trick, and it took two people, and he also used DW40 on it
It is Boss Silicone spray or any RV silicone spray will work. 👍
Hi, I also have the Pentair 2000 series and the grids are worn out now. Can you reference any replacements for the grids? Thanks.
Am I supposed to get Element 2060 instead of 4060? Or it fits both?
I have the Purex filter SMWB 2060 and bought these on ebay, they are the unicel FG-1260 for $127.00, free shipping that's about $16.00 each. Leslie's was $32.00 each.
Why my pool lost about 3 inches of water in less than a minute after backwashing my sand filter when I turned back the valve on filter position? It also not priming at all :((
What spray are you using? My pool store doesn’t have them.
Any RV grade silicone spray. Boss Silicone spray is good.
Is it better to mix in a slurry first and then pour it in
I don't notice any difference either way.
Hello I need to replaced rotor for my filter any suggestion how to do it
It's a tough job. Cut the filter off, remove grids and bottom manifold and then from inside the filter remove the bolts. Really not worth the expense or trouble and a new filter is easier.
Hello, I cleaned my filter a Purex trinton 2000, it seemed like all ok but after done, there is little to no pressure on the valve, and it does not seem like it is shooting out the powder, I vacuumed the pool and it did not shoot the trash I was picking up but after a day of running the filter with only 3 psi there is dirt on the pool, any tips, Please - Thanks
does it hurt to just take the grids out of the filter and wash them off and put back in, clean out the barrel too. or do you have add that earth stuff? thanks!
Yes, you have to add the D.E. back in after wards otherwise the filter won't work well at all.
thank you sir! added!
so i did all that, pump ran for 2 hours on '4' speed. was clean as could be. checked out your rainbow 320 feeder video and opened it up and checked level, turned pump on 1 speed to fill the tablets, once filled to tablet level i put the lid back on. bumped up speed to 4 again...noticed cloudy water coming out of pool returns for 2-3 min, and one return is sending out tons of tiny bubbles which ive never seen. any advice?
Hi if there is powder coming out from return line, what do you suggest? Thanks in advance
When cleaning my pentair 2000 series I tried pulling out the planks but the whole thing came out including the manifold I have very little or no suction now and there is DE in my pool
What size pool is this good for. Also the BW valve can be fixed with a new washer?
This filter size - 48 sq ft is good for 20,000 pool. Backwash valve is a complete rotor piece on bottom and tank needs to be removed to service it.
I have the same system.. how to drain the old water?? The valve in the bottom how did it?? I don't see mine
Some models are really old and may have the backwash rotor locked so it cannot be opened. So you may not be able to drain the tank.
I have this filter but after doing that it leaks from the backwash what can I do to fix this
You can add a ball valve to the end and just leave the ball valve shut. If the leak is very small.
How do you repair if it's leaking from the lever
That is the o-ring in the rotor. A pretty tough job. You have to cut the filter out, remove the rotor and replace the o-ring. Better off changing the filter at that point.
How do you find out the sq footage to find out how much earth to put back in ?
You can measure the grid height. There are only 4 sizes in this filter - 36 sq ft, 48 sq ft, 60 sq ft, 72 sq ft. With 48 and 60 being the most common.
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL great! So how do I determine how many scoops of earth?
hi sir, the D.E its returning to the spa after clean the filter, do you thing the top manifold its the problem?
+gerardo lopez This filter actually has the top manifold on the bottom. Take out all grids and then pull it off of the bottom and inspect - it should come off easily. See if there are any cracks.
The manifold has two very very small holes
why are you placing the wingnut on upside down?
what is the life span of a DE filter?
The tank can last a very long time. Newer ones are fiberglass and Pentair just stopped making the Stainless Steel ones last year - although I bet you can still find a new one somewhere. Those tanks lasted decades - 30-40 years. The Fiberglass are good - figure 20 years. The internals wear out so figure grids every 5 years and manifolds every 5-8 years.
+Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 Thank you!
I love your videos! Can you leave the grids in and just hose them off inside like you've done with other DE filters the just back flush?
We’re those metal or fiberglass tanks
Stainless Steel.
yes sir i did it, in fact i replaced the manifold and two seal in the botton I'll see what happen
do you own these or do you work with pools
On my service accounts.
When were these filters made?
Not sure but when I started in 1988 a lot of customers had them and they were already pretty old. The older units also came with a separate smaller tank to catch the D.E. in it with a cloth bag. Very messy. So I would like to say the late 70's early 80's. That was a long time ago. I still have about eight of these on my route.
looking for top cover filter older 1980
Awesome video. Thank U
What is the number for the O-ring?
Pentair SM & SMBW 2000 Series & Nautilus Plus O-ring, channel 2000 with red line 71442
why my pentair 2000 dont fill with water like in u video, leave for 1 hr dont fill
Could be a lot of air in the tank.
how to do i get that bottom manifold out?
remove the center rod and pull up on it hard. It will come off.
What's that pump bye that white pump
That is a Sta-Rite Heater.
Do you have this pump swimming pool tips
Do you have the 2000 series pump and the heater still
What would you do if this pump will not stop leaking that's happening to me
thanks for the video , is very usefull
Broke the bottom manifold
Yikes!
Soooooo knowledge and soooo helpful 👍🏼 👌🙏🙌💪👏
