loved seeing the old board rode by new skaters .them guys killin it . really great video idea . hope for more . been skating powell since the 80s . always been the best
Love these shape boards. They have attitudes and personalities not like the popsicles where they all look the same. Back in the day you wanted a cab board, a hosoi board, hawk board, etc. and they were all different. Chris Hiett is doing some of the craziest tricks on these shape boards and his skating style is uniquely badass. Reminds me of hosoi in a way.
I agree, you're not stating that you necessarily hate Popsicles but you're saying that these 80s boards have a personality because they're all different. I love modern skating and popsicle boards but whenever I see someone on a true 80s skateboard at a sesh, it just looks rad..with big 60+ wheels rails big risers tail guards etc ...
Even a simple ollie looks better w/ a shaped ride. I've been pushing my Welinder hard for two years and haven't gone back. These guys are killing it...and enjoying it too!
I love it a ton how these new dudes admire the old. I love it. I love Powell Peralta. I am a BMX rider from back then but when the BMX mag was featuring skateboarding, I got hooked and I still do both sports at 48.
So cool seein the grom respect the oldschool shapes and its sick these dudes are still able to do all the newschool tricks on oldschool shapes and dimensions. For me being that lm old these shapes and everything are much easier to ride than a popsicle
@@powellperalta Thank u powell peralta for keepin the stoke alive. Youve always meant alot to me. Not once have l ever had a deck that wasnt a powell. Thx for everything
I rolled on Cabs forever until they did XT, then I had to switch so I skated Natas boards because of the similar shape. Now I am about to be 50 and am thinking about riding again after a 20+ year break. At least there is a skate park here now.
Love the old school shape I just got a blue and white and pink ripper classic it’s so good I got rib bones and tailbone but wish you guys still made nose bones😢❤
I'm currently skating those same wheels with the Per Welinder street deck and Indy stage 10 169s .. definitely gives me a boost seeing what y'all can do on the old school shapes
Did you change the angle of the tail? because I had one (with little bats in the background of the design) at the time (80s') and I didn't ride much with it because the tail was too flat for me to make ollies correctly, now the board is exposed on a wall at home and do not regret having bought it like other stuff from Powell Peralta in the 80s and a big thank you from Belgium for your materials, design and legendary riders who made us dream . Sacha.
“technically” the wheels are wrong time frame. The Cab dragon era would have been running Rat Bones or Cross Bones. The Mini Cubes were more of the “pig” era boards. ...... just an observation... 😎👍🏼
They work well, last longer and are more adaptable . Personally i prefer smaller wheels (58-60) , i never went for the larger wheels in the 80s although my choice are now considered big 🙂
I don't think even Cab skated on those stupid Mini Cubics on that board. The board is kind of cool. Not into the wheels. Maybe you could use them for longboard wheels or something. Other than that, they are pretty ridiculous.
Fun times cruising on that beast of a skateboard!! 🤘🤘
Beast of a skater on a beast of a board🤘
Hi zach I really like Powell peralta
That little dude in the red shirt has crazy skills!!👍🏻👍🏻
One of my favorite shapes! 🖤🖤🖤
Only reason I bought my rat bones deck was seeing you skate the OG shape
One of our favorite people!
Christopher my brother , my name is Michael , BRASIL 🇧🇷🎉 ❤
So sick watching the team riding the same boards I grew up on,and still skate today! 🤙
We're happy that you enjoy it!

I mean you can like something and not hate on something else 😂 I like ALL SKATEBOARDS

Cab 4 life. I can't stop buying his decks. Still have my deck from the 80's.
Been a Caballero fan since the 80’s. Much love to Steve and the crew

That boy with the wheres Waldo sweater and onion 🧅 haircut be ripping , especially those old school boards, mad respect to Chris and the whole team
Powell has always been my favorite boards. Their teams as well.

This was one of the best Old Dog New Tricks ever. The new breed is so dope. They are all so good and so Powell Peralta.
THANK YOU!
genius video. really shows all theoretical potential of the skateboard I used to ride in 1989! incredible, incredible! p.s. these KIDS RULE!
Rippin' on a classic from my day. Much respect.
Souvenir, souvenir.....
My favourite board ever!!!!
Chris & Zack are top tier for me
That board is huge to that little guy yet he still shreds on it.

That Cab was my dream deck as a kid. (In red) 🔥🛹👍
Love the old school shape I just got a blue and white and pink ripper classic it’s so good I got rib bones and tailbone but wish you guys still made nose bones😢❤
Had this same deck when it originally came out. With red Gullwings and yellow Bones.
7:53 Craig looks like a happy little kid getting given a new board
CAB RULES.!!!
Yes he does!

Enjoy the ride, JP!
Just got this board about a week ago, it’s so sick 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I’ve beeen waiting for a video like this with that board! Helll yeaaa makes me wanna go skate mines rn mad love from Miami

Sacha.
There is one of these in my shop right now and seeing this video really made me want to grab it
Just found it in my shop and grabbed it because of the same reason. It’s the natty version tho
Groovy 👌 Gravy 👌
Cool board .I had one when it came out but I must say wheels are to early by then rat bones or crossbones if you want a true vintage ride.
Dude 😎 that kids amazing 🌴
Makes him feel like he's back when..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shaped boards are the shit. If you've never ridden one, you're missing out.
Much love holmes
gettin tricky with it
Chris is so good
Agreed. Thanks for sharing!

“It makes you feel like you’re back” says the kid that was born 6 years ago 🤣💀
helll yea!!!!
Chris skatin that is just like another normal day shreddin
Like the beginning.
Sick…tg for modern flight decks lol
I wanna see all the falls too
What size trucks for these?
Best boards in the world.
THANK YOU
Hi! what size are the riser pads? 1/4 or 1/2? thx
I love big wheels.
Did you need the risers on this deck with the wheels?
Yeah.....unless you are a fan of savage wheelbite
Whats the name of the wheels?
i think julian has a bright future in skateboarding :)
Stuck between this or the neon colourway.
What size riser pads do you use with the 64 mm wheels?
They're using Mini Logo .5" Risers in this video
Zack is fuckin bad ass man 🔥🔥🔥
4:55 - what was that?
People normally call it a boardslide bigspin
Chris: Hammers
Would have been better with Ratbones 🙂
Get
POWELL merch
POWELL equipment
POWELL gear
Right💀Now!!!
Chin would be proud
Curious why these are back in fashion. They're not more cumbersome?
They work well, last longer and are more adaptable . Personally i prefer smaller wheels (58-60) , i never went for the larger wheels in the 80s although my choice are now considered big 🙂
Hey you guys, can i have that boatd?????? Please
