Thanks for the video. I am stuck with one adult female as my daughter brought her home.
She is not a lap cat hates being picked up. She recently went into heat and mated with a stray. I don't know how to handle it pregnancy. 😮
Bring her to my place. Problem solved 😊
Sounds sad that you say you are stuck with her. Not to mention that you neglected to get her fixed.
Heartbreaking that people like you exist.
@@bunjijumper5345 Oh judgemental type. 😂😂😂
So stupid 🤦
Give her to me ? Problem solved
Why would you not have had her spayed??
“Reason 1: you might be allergic to cats and this is a cat” wow I never thought of it like that before
I know right? Especially considering this breed is the LEAST allergen producing, this video is dumb AF
Honestly my Siberian is one of the easiest cats I know. He's sweet to everyone who pets him, has never attacked me, and a big cuddle bug lol. I have cat allergies and for a little while I was getting allergies to him but by keeping the house clean it's gotten better and they eventually went away all together. He's also absolutely a lap cat at night
Do you have any advices for people with allergies who wants to live with this Cat?
@@roxettew5827yes. Take allergy meds. Live with them for a long while, and you’ll like outgrow the allergy like my BFF of 40 years. She was allergic for 30+ years, and now she and her husband have NINE cats (they live in a mansion of a house, so they have the space and a dozen litter boxes). Anyway, she no longer has to get allergy shots or take allergy meds for the cats.
@roxettew5827 I went to my allergy doctor and got the full 5 year series of allergy shots. It was life changing!
hey is he neutered ? if so has his behavior changed? asking because my parents agreed to a cat and im wondering about the nuetering
I am allergic to cats and 4 siberians at home.
Females won't often come onto your lap during daytime, especially young ones. My seven years comes on my lap daily. My male siberian cat loves to come on my lap. When I go to sleep, all my females like to cuddle.
Siberians are very social, they love each other.
As for diseases, they are the most healthy of purebreeds.
They cost quite a lot.
They indeed need brushing.
Most importantly, they are incredibly clever and understand a wide vocabulary.
I would have rescue cats if I were not allergic, but I think siberian cat are the next best choice, because they are beautiful and loyal.
Siberian cats are the best house cats one can have
I have a Siberian cat and she is amazing. Not regular brushing, very sweet, sociable, happy.
I had 2 Siberian cats growing up (one is still alive at 17 years) and they were both outstanding cats. Now in my new home I have one young Siberian cat and he is just as amazing- truly my favourite breed.
Half the cats shown in this video are not siberians. There is a Pallas cat at the begining which is a wild cat. Looks like this was put together by a ropey AI.
Yep Pallas cats are wild and completely IMPOSSIBLE to tame. They are extremely aggressive.
Seriously lacking intellect in this vid
I was lucky enough to get mine for cheap cause he was mix with british shorthair. But we are so so so lucky to have him. It is true they are high energy and not necessarily lap cat. But the way my cat shows love is absolutely adorable by bringing me flowers from my dried flower bouquet in the morning to getting excited whenever i take a nap in the afternoon so he can also get in bed and sleep beside me. He is also extremely social with other people and cats. Loves to be the center of attention. He also has to be involved in everything I do. Especially in the kitchen his favorite chore is loading the dishwasher and ofcourse can never keep the bathroom door closed cause those paws will show up from under and he'll be sending me whatever toys he can slide in. Also, he is soooo gentle. Unless he gets overly stimulated he does not bite, but even then it's gentle love bites. I just love him so much I guess I needed to write a long essay about him. His name is Balu ❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Since when was a long life span , for a cat , a bad thing?
frr
We love our Siberian cat; she is our baby girl. She needs multiple small feedings since she is still young and has an intestine the size of a ping pong ball. She thrives on routines: her fur and teeth get brushed daily, with treats provided either afterward or during the process. She requires lots of playtime and currently enjoys stalking and ambushing toy prey. Before we adopted her, we spent time at the breeder’s place to ensure we didn’t have any allergies. Fortunately, we were fine. Although I developed allergies later, my vet suggested relocating her litter box, which helped after we bought a new one with a little flip door at a pet store, and now, no allergies. She’s quite the little furball, so we maintain a clean house regularly. She loves the ample space in our home, running around during her playtime. She prefers to stay close to us, often rubbing against us for affection, although she doesn’t like to be held for too long. We’ve invested in pet insurance and pay monthly; she saw a vet when we first adopted her and will continue to see one annually. She brings immense joy to our lives, and we are so happy she will be with us for the next 20 years, fingers crossed. We are overjoyed with our Siberian baby girl.
I have had many cats before but honestly this cat is the easiest and the most cat I've ever owned!
As a former owner of a Siberian cat I was skeptical when I saw the title of this video. But after watching it I would say I agree with all of the points.
I would add that although you sometimes read how Siberian cats are dog-like, don't get the idea you're getting a replacement for a dog. They are still very much cats.
You probably had a mix. I breed Siberians and half of the information here is incorrect
i give a food to 6 semi-siberians in winter near my house in Great Novgorod area. In summer they are very careful and do not allow me even to be near them. But on winter, when it is -20-30 on the street, they pay no attention when i touch them, they just eating. During cold night they even do not sleep, making some dance on my house porch.
I appreciate how fair you were about the allergies. I have cat allergies and zero problems with my Siberian cat, but that’s something you have to test before getting one. Also, I have severe fatigue and have managed well with my Siberian cat. I’ve had her for 14+ years and she’s very well adjusted and healthy for her age.
How to test this?
@@roxettew5827 Different Siberian breeders have different ways of testing. I spent 2 hours around the breeder’s intact males, who produce the most of the allergens, intact females, and holding a lapful of kittens (😍) without so much as a sniffle. To test, find a breeder as near you as you can (Siberian cats are still pretty rare) and talk to them about testing. They should have a system. They get lots of cat allergy sufferers.
@roxettew5827 some breeders will let you spend time with them before you buy one to see if you get an allergic reaction
My son was allergic to cats, but he was fine with two Siberians. Loved those cats!
I mean, if we're going off the first 15 seconds of the video, I definitely agree that no one should be out here owning a pallas cat
Siberians are not "pure bread cats", they are a natural species from the siberian woods. Of course they can get sick, as every living being, but they are actually not very prone to disease, cause they haven't been engineered by humans, but by mother nature :)
Mine is an arm cat.
If I pet him or put my arm next to him, he'll grab it and sleep on it.
As for allergies, yes they still happen. I had allergic reaction for a month after I got my cat.
Allergies can go away, in my case I'm not allergic to cats anymore due to long time low exposure, but everyone is different when it comes to allergies.
I had sever cat allergy and I'm asthmatic,my Dr suggested me to get this cat!My cat allergy disapeared completely. They're not as bad
This gives me so much hope. I grew up with animals. Ive never not had a pet until about a year ago when my allergies to all furry and feathered animals became unbearable. I am doing my allergy shots and I hope that in a few years of doing the shots I can spend some time around one of these cats and not have any reactions so that I can have a pet again.
@@allankaige7364that’s so sad :( I hope u can have an wonderful feline and magnificent pets soon :)
We have 2 of them and they have been fantastic companions
Aren't you a beacon of positivity!
One thing, my Siberian is a MASSIVE lap cat!
And grooming isn't too bad at all, u just need to keep ontop of it.
Altho mine is a show cat... so THAT is a lot of work.
I have a neva masquerade they are the best cat i had ready 7 in my life all with different personality.... but Siberian are special ...we have yuky from a friend that his female cat live in the garden and got pregnant she came out pure neva and her personality it's so adorable
I have a siberian cat and she licks me in the hand. She is fluffy and adorable
Most of my Siberians are to big to fit on a lap to well but they like to sleep on me which is also not fun due to their size. I like that they are quiet not very verbal like Siamese.
lol I would love to have a huge and fluffy cat its soo fun.!!
2:34 my Siberian cat is laying inside of my lap and licking his toes.
why is a long lifespan listed under "reasons you should not get a siberian cat" LOL
Mine is 15!🤣
@@happydisneyteacher7557 that's great to hear :-) we have a 4 year old
I think it illustrates they are long lived and it may put off idiots.
I'm 67, and if they live up to 20 years, well...l'll probably die before the cat does--and then what? Use your head, dear young one.
I know! This is the biggest bunch of BS video ever.
I moved around and at one time I rented a small place. My kitty didn't mind. She lived my place.Shes 10 and never had any oroblems
I just rescued a Siberian I love him so much so loyal and kind
Well I had no choice when i found mine. As a small kitten she looked usual then became very fluffy. And as she was obviously feral I knew no one will take her so I had to keep her.
I'm tired of these videos. They don't even know what they are taking about.
Another person that does NOT understand what the word hypoallergenic actually means. ALL Siberians are hypoallergenic. ALL Siberians are not Non-allergic. Hypoallergenic yes nonallergic no. I have been breeding Siberians since 1994 and "discovered" the hypoallergenic quality in December 1996 🐱
i have cat which looks like a Siberian cat but how I know is from that race?
My Siberian is a total lap cat. He has no concept of personal space....
exactly mine too.
I can't be near cats, except for my Siberian Amber. I am not allergic to her, but unfortunately my grown son is. They really don't require that much grooming, although they do shed. Wonderful cats, they want to be involved in everything you do. No, not usually lap cats, although there are occasional exceptions, they do want to be near you. While I'm typing this, Amber is sitting on my desk right next to my keyboard. Yes, they're expensive, but for me, worth it.
My Siberian is the best and sweetest cat ever ❤ he loves to cuddle and is attached to me
Some of the information here is very incorrect. I breed them. Actually, having one dog is like having 4 Siberians.
I have a male Siberian cat and he broke up with his girlfriend but he is a lap cat
This video is ok
My Siberian cat didn't give me any big expenses!
If you don't want a pet that has a long life span than get a hamster or betta fish, not a cat.
Best cat but lots of Fur and shedding since it’s a longhair
This is such a generic video that it's almost worthless. Most of the cautions put forward in this video would apply to cat ownership generally. As others have correctly observed, many of the photos are not of Siberians. One of the "reasons" is absolutely incorrect: Siberian fur does not get matted - it's a unique characteristic of their triple coat. Brushing is useful to help remove fur during their shedding seasons but it is no more onerous a task than the brushing you would do for any long-hair breed. This is a breed that gives as much as it takes: dedicate time for play (they love it) and to understanding and responding to their subtle behavioral signals, and they will respond with quiet companionship and endearing affection. Read Caleb Carr's new book: "My Beloved Monster" - his 17-year relationship with a Siberian is beautifully written and provides wonderful insights into the breed. Warning: some purists will object to the fact that she is an "indoor-outdoor" cat. Get beyond that and you'll be treated to an unforgettable love story.
I have a perfect Siberian
My partner insisted we get one and I love some things about him, but really wish we hadn't. The shedding is out of control and he seems to get poo stuck in his hair every second day and smears it all over the house before we can catch and bathe him. He can also be needy and demanding. After 1 year I'm finding it hard to imagine another 15 years of this.
that sucks :/ does he take care of it
What if you trim the hair around his butt? I would lose it too if poop got all over the place, but there has to be a resolution for that?
I have a Siberian. A Neve Masquerade. I learned early not to change his diet as that is when the poo on the fur happens. If you change his diet you do that VERY VERY GRADUALLY and you won't have the issue of poop on the fur. I suspect that they have sensitive tummies to changes in food as my shelter cat and my Savannah never have that issue. I promise you that as I speak from experience having had the same issue at one time. As to the shedding. Get him clipped and it won't be so bad. I take the time to brush my boy every other day and its just part of having a long hair cat. I also do trim the hair on his back of his legs but please don't go overboard with trimming near his recturm as that itching can be near torture. Just imagine....
Hello - please look at my reply to you below. I want to help all I can and it sounds like you weren't prepared for this particular breed and what can happen.
Thanks for your reply. We've taken him to the top cat specialist vet in the UK. Turns out he is allergic to everything but pure fresh Turkey so that is all we ever feed him-but even that randomly upsets his tummy. We also already trim his butt but it still gets onto his tail, legs, etc. We'd also been told he'd only shed twice a year but it's non-stop. He's a sweet cat and I do love him but waking up at 4am every second day to bathe him, wash our bedsheets, and then crawl around the house looking for more smears is getting unbearable.
I have a Siberian he is fabulous loving wants to be picked up needs to be around us and sit close to us. I have him groomed every five weeks and brush him every day. He is incredible. My husband and I are both allergic to cats and not this guy.
I also have 5 Siberian 4 kitten's and one mother cat but I don't have any anargy at all I thik so this video is fack
were you previously allergic? :))
I'm looking for kitties that are safe for allergic people for a friend
All of this is AI generated isn’t it?
$2000+ in 2024 just fyi
Such a negative video smh
And half of the information here is incorrect. She must be a dog fan.
