Bro this is the MOST USEFUL video I found about which Teton pack to get. Other videos had in the 10-100ks view but this is by far the best! Keep it up 👍
I found your video after ordering 3 of the scout 3400 and 1 explorer 4000! My kids are in Scouts and we are getting more active in camping and we were needing new backpacks, your video reassured me that we made good choices! Thank you!
thank you so much me and my friends have been watching videos and this one is the winner. Really good explanation and me and my 24 more people are going fro the 3400.THANK YOU. and we are purchasing as well things from those links!!!! we are all from costa rica and we want to explore more so thank you again
This guy gets a thumbs up and a comment, i just purchased the Teton 55L pack... and i'll be using it for a 2 day this weekend. I packed it up to see how it would feel, put it on, LOVE IT!
For sure the most useful video! I been torn between these two for a few days now with my budget and now I will now make my purchase. Thanks for the help!
Just bought a TetonSports 4000 a few months ago. It seems to work for what I use it for. Thanks for taking the time to upload Hike much. You were right about the straps squeaking while you hike. Kind of annoying, but whatever.
Great video, very informative and a bit of humour to boot!! Personally, I think its hard to go past the Scout 3400 for value for money, especially if you are just starting out hiking.
Just bought the explorer 4000 off of ebay for $55 with tax and shipping. Can't wait to get this tank of a pack and get it on the trail this spring/summer. Thanks for your videos, they helped me make my decision(along with the amazing price)
@@freddymarcel-marcum6831 Hey Freddy. I ended up using the explorer 4000 twice on some overnight trips and then sold it to my younger brother. It's a decently comfortable pack with good storage but the shoulder straps just squeak like crazy! All in all I think it's a good pack for the $ but I ended up getting an Osprey Rook 65 instead. It's about 2 lbs lighter, sits off my back so I sweat less, and has hip pockets(which I love having). My brother is still using the Explorer 4000 and he seems to like it just fine and the squeaking doesn't bother him. Hope that helps. If you have any other questions just LMK.
@@natlovell122 word, yeah I've always had a bag from Czechoslovakia and after trying on the 4000 I was like, now there's a difference! I'm sceptical because it's so affordable but people seem to like so, it comes Wednesday 👍, happy trails from Ashland Kentucky USA 🇺🇸🤠
@@freddymarcel-marcum6831 The great thing about the Explorer 4000 is that the thing is a tank! It should last you many trips! Hope you enjoy it out on the trail!
Great backpacks for the price! As a newbie to them, BE SURE to check the torso length as the scout is for shorter folks vs the 4000. I bought the scout not knowing that and its too small.
I too don't like water bladders in my pack. Takes up unessesary space. I'd rather carry more food and 3-4 small water bottles plus my big 1.5 liter bottle on the side of the pack. Also a lifestraw and some bleach with a dropper wouldn't be a bad option to have. Should you run out of water or get lost on your adventure. Great video, I own the 4000 and have since replaced it with a Kelty. But for 70$ I think it's a great bargain, carries alot of gear inside, and it has some great placement of zippers and straps 💪
Agreed. For the price, it's amazing. I also usually use a more expensive pack, and only take out the Explorer 4000 when I need to bring a lot of stuff and don't care that much about the weight.
I have one of these 70L packs. I carry a lot of gear because I am backpacking with the kids. But there will come a time when i can get a 50L pack and I look forward to that time. LOL
That 4000 is 129.00 today, January '23. I'm waiting for mine to arrive. Thought I'd look to see what I bought (hehe!!😉). Looks good to me. Big. Bought it as a laundry bag. You know, city dwellers... Ok well thanks!
Great video, my ? Is how do you pack your bags. And is the 4000 big enough to carry enough gear for a 3 day trip for 2 adults. And I always check the video description... Lol ty for sharing your knowledge.
I have the scout 3400. Used it maybe 5-6 times on short hikes. The plastic 'knob' at the end of the draw strings are cracked. I had to put tape around them to help hold them together. I find the 3400 to be a bit small (I probably pack too much)? Other than the "knob" flaw I like it. I may purchase the 4000 soon so I can take what I want to pack in without overflow.
Just got the explorer 4000 and it's a huge relief hearing the comfort level especially the fact the weight can be directed away from the shoulders. Had full shoulder reconstruction surgery 4 years ago and it's difficult to find a pack that doesn't kill me once I hit that 7 mile marker with 46lbs.
I just ordered the hiker. It's kind of funny because they call it their ultralight and it weighs 4 lbs. Everyone says it's comfortable and adjustable. At the most I'll probably backpack twice a year.
would this be a good purchase (either bag) if I'm planning a trip to travel around Europe for two weeks, ill be staying in hostels and on the move pretty often. I feel like a suitcase would get annoying and the back pack will be easier to maneuver with and get around.
Great video thanks. Im actually trying to decide between these two packs at the moment. i have a question about the 4000. The external pockets are pass through in your opinion are the sturdy enough for an axe. i carry a Fiskers 23".
i have the sout3400 and i dont now if make change to 4000 teton , just pay 500 pesos mexicanos like 20 dollars , i love my scout 3400 but i donth think about do change
I'm looking to buy my boyfriend a new backpacking pack; I think the 65L will be perfect so he will have the extra space to carry aallllll my "extra baggage" for our backpacking adventures!
Dude that hip pad and using it increases the chance of shin splints, knee amd ankle pain. When going through basic training in the Army we are not aloud to use them. Because it increases the chance of injury. Good video otherwise.

Such a nice presentation and clean explanation. It should have views more than 100k. Great video. I will go for scout 3400. Good Job.

Thanks for the honest review, I got the explorer 4000
I have been happy with the scout 3400 since 2014 . Its still going great in 2024. I have lost track of the miles.
Thanks for your help! Great video and great explanations :)
You are totally correct about the water bladder I never use them that’s why we have filtered for water it’s much easier to use
So far the 4000 has been great. Thank you.

I’m debating on getting the 3400 for back country rifle hunting for my gf 🤔.
I pack a 65l, thinking about a 70. A bear canister quickly takes up your space.

Yeah definitely. I've carried my axe there multiple times.
Have heard the fabric down the side is not great, subject to hardening and cracking over time?
Maybe, but I haven't experienced anything like that. 😉

Where so you put the tent polls? Because I don’t think you can trust the side?
Inside the rolled poly-matt
Im the friend who brought too much gear :(
More room for booze! SOLD! Bahahhaa!!

Even though they are good looking backpacks I would not buy this brand of backpacks since TETON means BIG BOOBS in spanish; next brand please.
