Bro, welcome to New Zealand, my whanau (family) and I subscribed and watch your channel all the time. It's such an honour to have you come here and experience what our country has to offer as kaimoana (seafood). Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing more with NZ. Arohanui (big love/much love). Thank you.
Can you imagine not ever having an oven??!! Shocker. Id love to see a video about the different ways to prepare Fish heads...love your videos sir! Still attempting to learn Japanese so as not to have to read captions...six months in now and still feel i sound ridiculous
Yay! You're doing Paua next!!!! I'm so excited! I imagine the texture would be like your green turban but the flavour is something else! Delicious!!!! Enjoy New Zealand! I am also in Auckland hahaha
I love this channel for how wholesome it is; educational, fun, and definitely making me want to try fish again! I hate that I'm not near the sea, so nothing is too fresh when it gets here 😭
Quite funny how I found out about this channel when you started posting these videos, ha! I hope your trip in this beautiful country continues to be a good experience for you! Nau Mai, Haere Mai, ki Aotearoa! 🇳🇿
A word of caution about fishing regulations in NZ. The ministry of Ag & Fish have pretty broad powers of search and seizure when it comes to enforcing the law. If you are caught taking undersized fish or fishing in a protected area they can, and will, take everything. And I do mean everything. They won’t just confiscate the catch, they’ll also seize all the gear associated with the catch. Rods, lines, nets, scuba gear, everything. If you went fishing in a boat, they’ll take the boat, the trailer and even the car you used to tow it with. They don’t mess around. So to anyone reading this, please come to our beautiful corner of the world. Enjoy yourselves here. You are welcome to fish and hunt, but please educate yourself on the limits and respect our laws and customs.
This is my favourite fish! We call it “Tenggiri” in Malaysia. When I lived in the UK, I thought I could never eat King Fish again, but surprisingly I found some frozen ones. They are best cook in a soup-based dish, whether coconut-based or water-based. Fried tastes good too but it tends to harden when it is cold. I love to cook it with some garlic, turmeric, galangal, sliced dried tamarind and fish paste. Then eat it with hot rice and “sambal belacan”. Damn so good.
Being from the US, taco seasoning is such a commonplace thing for me that I was taken aback by Masaru’s reaction to seeing it. Of course when I think about it, it makes sense that certain foods that are common in one country are rare or not at all present in other countries, but it’s not something I really consciously think about. Really puts things in perspective.
Kia Ora, Masaru! Welcome to Aotearoa, New Zealand! I only recently discovered your channel so it's uncanny that you are here, and diving in the exact place where I grew up! (A village near Omaha called Point Wells.) Enjoy your time here :)
Always an adventure with Masaru. Even when you try something that ends up disappointing or just bad but it's particularly satisfying when you do find things you really enjoy. Also Mexican food is the best so I'll be looking forward to seeing you do more like that. Good times
I wish I was down there my friend I would be trying to spear a few medium fish because the fish that you've shown a lot of them I know from the Caribbean area and oh my god they're so good also I was looking at the kingfish I'm just thinking wait isn't that just a yellowtail amberjack that I realized it's the exact same thing different name lol
that just goes to show you that, while Japan's waters are rich with marine life and diversity, that doesn't mean there aren't new experiences and foods to try overseas. Traveling, especially internationally, is a good experience for any human being. It puts you outside your comfort zone but provides you with opportunities to learn and grow as a person. The fact that Masaru caught this food himself makes him 100 times more appreciative for it.
Im not normally a fan of seafood, but that grilled collar looks incredibly tasty. and seeing how adventrous masaru is with food makes me a lot more open minded to food as well!
I think the reason they’re called kingfish and Australia and New Zealand is because of the blue/purple colouration being the colour of royalty in olden days. Also as you say they are big, powerful impressive fish

It was cute when Masaru got excited over the oven. 😊
I love this channel for how wholesome it is; educational, fun, and definitely making me want to try fish again! I hate that I'm not near the sea, so nothing is too fresh when it gets here 😭

Masaru's reaction made me want to eat this fish eventhough i don't like to eat fish. Fun video as always

Haha yeah, I'm in Phoenix, AZ I eat tacos at least twice a week, I was surprised they have it way out Southwest
I've really grown to love your videos. It's so cool to see you fishing in new zealand!
Well done Masaru!! Have a fantastic trip and safe travels. 🙏

You're the man Masaru, love watching you dive here, Aotearoa

Another AMAZING video Masaru...we also have the kingfish here (Israel) and it is very expensive & appreciated
I'm from NZ and am super stoked you flew here and tried our kingfish!! Come back next time to fish snapper and gurnard!
I was watching with the subtitles on and got momentarily confused when I saw Omaha. I have family living in Omaha- in the USA 😅😅😅😅

I had nothing but laughter at this video, I finally think masaru found his favorite fish to eat and it made me smile the whole time lol

Masaru I love your videos. I look forward to seeing your adventures every week. I watch them while doing my boring desk job.
He looks so good with the fluffy hair
Congrats on getting the Kingfish!
What a shot on the kingfish, instant death. Also the Boss coffee here is $4.50 haha. Glad you got some maomao, please try it.

Welcome to New Zealand nice Kingfish . It s good for sashimi, yes, delicious.

Thats awesome 😂 i love it when the fish turns out to be really good
Add some extra salt when you use the taco seasoning. Also, a squeeze of lime or yuzu really brings out the flavor.
Congrats on getting the KING! 🎉

Dorado is called Shiira in Japan🐟
The fish density is crazy there!

I think the reason they’re called kingfish and Australia and New Zealand is because of the blue/purple colouration being the colour of royalty in olden days. Also as you say they are big, powerful impressive fish
Dexter vibes with the black plastic laid out for the butchering!
Good to see you enjoy fishing new Zealand.
