Personally, I find public transport in Spain to be much better than the UK and far cheaper. For example, for myself and my partner to go to Manchester airport, it takes one hour driving and costs less than £5. On public transport it takes us 2 hours 45 minutes, and costs us £76. £68 of that is for the train alone. Prices in Spain are much better, and the trains are less crowded.
I totally agree. For the last year I lived in Barcelona I used public transport and I was very impressed. Public transport in the UK is expensive and extremely unreliable.

I'm all for measures that can help prevent the spread of the contagion, but this is much like during the last closure. The people of Spain were prevented from travel, inter communities and in many areas inter provinces, but European travelers could pass through the country at will. I live a few hundred meters from a camper van park, most days I'd see vans from Nederlands, Germany, Belgium or France, who had traveled through Spain heading for the south coast, whereas I was unable to leave the province and at times even leave my village.
The invitation letter (carta de invitación) has always been required for people who come from South American countries to visit Spain with other familiars who live in Spain. For example if you live here and you want to bring your brother from South América to Spain to visit you. I have used it several times and it costs more than 100 euros per person. I believe that it is one more impediment or dissuasive measure to avoid illegal immigration from Latin American countries

On the subject of ITVs. The testing station operators should do the test and not the driver of the vehicle. They , I presume have been trained to go through the stages of driving on to a rolling road and applying brake pressure correctly, and also driving over a pit and checking steering, the general driving population does none of those things and if not carried out correctly could be assisting the Centre to fail their vehicle. In the interest of safety the public should not even be in the testing area , with rolling roads and open pits, vehicles etc.
There are many British who have lived in Spain for many years and they don't know how to say a single word in Spanish. When they go to do any procedure they pretend to be spoken to in English and they get angry if they are spoken to in Spanish, which is very strange. When I go to the UK I have to speak English to be understood.
That’s not quite true. All public services in the U.K. offer free translation services. You would be provided translation assistance if you couldn’t speak English.

How much informed does one gets when going for VAX? The list of all the possible health problems and % of deaths for each according to age? Or is the information like politicians and mainstream say “97%; 94% effective”? And effective to what? People take more care of their car than their body, it’s absolutely crazy for an illness with 99,97 % survival.

Wil be there at the end of next month and ready to enjoy the very best of Spain!!!. We are certificated w/ no problems what so ever , looking for a place to call our new HOME!. Thank you Alma
The ITV couldn't be any simpler. Drive to a test center, hand over the documents for the vehicle, pay the fee and drive into the lane number given. The examiners couldn't be more friendly as most of the questions are asked using hand signals. Why pay someone €140 for doing something that simple. My Spanish is quite basic, but my goodness,if you can't even manage this process, what are you doing here????? If you can't do it yourself, have the vehicle checked over at a garage, they may or may not give you a form stating the vehicle has been checked over, and what work may need done. It's that easy. Failing all of that, take someone with you, that has basic knowledge of the language, buy them lunch and save yourself a tidy little sum.
I have taken my car for ITV several times, and I’m an old lady. However, the last couple of times staff from my service garage have taken it for me, following the pre- ITV check, and didn’t charge me for doing it. I live in Murcia city.

Convenient to be able to scapegoat weddings, baptisms and communions if you are a militant secularist, or the kind of ideological anti-clericalist still to be found in certain quarters of the Spanish left.
So the EU plans to sue AZ out of existence, that’s a great reward for the company that decided to produce vaccine at cost. The UK didn’t receive 5 million doses from India six weeks ago, no sign of their Government looking to sue India. Maybe if the EU had invested a little more, for example in the French designed vaccine, there would be more vaccines for everyone.
We're travelling from UK to Alicante in late June. I have a Norwegian passport (Schengen area) & my husband British. We're staying at a flat owned by my parents but they don't live there. Do we need this carta de invitacion (not sure if i remembered the right name)? I'm also taking my parents car to a Citroen garage (We're driving straight from airport to garage) for ITV, service & probably a new battery (car has been parked near airport since Feb 20). We're leaving the car at the garage & they handle the ITV.
In theory, yes you need the Carta de Invitación, but like Stuart said in his video, I've never heard of it and I've lived in Spain longer than Stuart. For the ITV, you need to make an appointment and at the moment there's a backlog.
Technically your husband needs carta de invitacion. To enter Spain. To make things more complicated only the owner of the property can apply for one, in person at the police station. It takes 20 days to issue . It has never been heard of before because it was not needed by Brits. It is on the spanish gov web site under entry requirements. You MUST prove where your accomodation is. A hotel reservation etc etc. Carta de invertacion is one of the options to prove accomodation. Your husband will also need a return ticket as proof he is going back.
@@dereksaunders3720 thank you. Well as my parents are in Norway they can't apply for one. I'm hoping as he's travelling with me, an EEA passport holder, it won't be a problem as i can enter Spain freely.
Would the complementary green certificate be an English version as well, for those countries who don't understand Spanish? You will need that if you want to visit OZ when they open, Stu. Please report back when you get your jabs. Cheers.
@Dr Wolfgang Chausser Its the other way around. People wanting to leave Spain to, well, most of the world. I'm sure the chances of a customs agent at Hamburg airport (or Beijing, Moscow, Kampala, Mumbai, or Tokyo) understanding English are more than Spanish.
Great programme stu spain is a fantastic place to live pity about the political system they don't seem to have a clue probably left over from the Franco system that's why most Spaniards seem to like control
Most Spaniards seem to like control? That's not even a stereotype. Changing to Hitler and Germany would be the same nonsense. Actually, "control" is the same in Spanish and English but it is a word barely used in Spanish. "control" at the airport, positive and negative "controls" in PCR, "agárrame el cubata que yo controlo", a brand of condoms, and a few more uses.
Yes day to day life in Spain is great. Just when you bump up with bureaucracy, you find it more rigid and complex than similar processes in the U.K. But it’s a different country, with a different history, traditions and legal system. Not the U.K. in the sun that many imagine. Even Stu, fluent in Spanish, with a Spanish partner and 20 years in Spain, is still stressing out about the process of the ITV, where you have to be present and follow instructions in Spanish for your vehicle test. In the U.K. you just hand the keys to the mechanic, as it’s the car being tested, not you too.!
I think that all Spanish government institutions should also issue their own certificates, followed by each community administrations etc., etc. Why not? The possibilities are really endless. On the other hand to end all disputes regarding vaccines, I think that the best is Johnson & Gates one. 100% efficiency guaranteed.
Like most things in Portugal compared to Spain an MOT is a piece of cake with centres everywhere run by the government. You can book an appointment and it costs around 30 euros.
After opening Spain to British tourists this week, I'm wondering if the Spanish government are going to withdraw this due to the Indian variant currently spreading through the UK. France, Germany and Austria have now brought in measures for British visitors such as compulsory quarantines on arrivals. I understand other counties are also considering crackdowns.

France now restricting people from the UK entering their country unless you are a French resident or citizen. Due to the increase in the UK of the new "Indian" variant.
The EU won't get diddly squat, it never wins its lawsuits and the AZ delays were caused by the EU's own incompetence, the EU really are chancers when its comes to things like this. AZ have given this a pretty much cost price and the EU attempt to screw then over, AZ should just pull out of the deal entirely.

The people who were turned away at EMA because they could not prove that they were eligible to enter Spain as residents / owners etc and not visiting for tourism. They made a big stink about blaming everyone but themselves - they received an email from the airline instructing them to check Spains entry policy at that time and they chose not to. This is not confusing or complicated it is quite clear and common sense - they simply acted like typical stupid joe public and chose not to.

In the interest of safety the public should not even be in the testing area , with rolling roads and open pits, vehicles etc.
not good news . papers to travel ?
You have to carry your DNI around with you. So it’s just another piece of paper. Don’t think Spanish residents will find anything wrong with this
Ivermectin for me 😃😅
There are many British who have lived in Spain for many years and they don't know how to say a single word in Spanish.
@@MarI-Posa The comment you refer to is 2 months old. I could no longer remember. I have no problem speaking English when I am in the UK because I am in the UK not in Spain.
I must agree the procedure for ITV will take years off my life thru the stress involved, ask a friend to help...
Thank you Stewart 🤗

We will have a digital choice, use the government digital certificate or give the one digit salute.
Abs rubbish re ITV . I line in Benidorm and the staff were brill helping me though all the stages.in my pigeon Spanish
Stuart, please give information about the cars in Spain. I read they have just 1 cilinder what makes the travel very cheap regarding gasoline expenses. Is that real?
@@elizabethwhitehouse7752 maybe it's a Murcia thing, I live in the Ricote Valley, never have a problem and don't know what the fuss is about.
Exactly. The staff are only to pleased to help if you are willing to try.

I thought that a pillar of the EU was freedom of movement, not 'Where are your papers?'. Now the Soviet internal passport system has been reintroduced a few hundred miles further west.

What make is your tablet? Apple (os) or Samsung (android)? do you het on ok with it for all your needs - I am a bit undecided about android, but I am looking for a new tablet - currently have ipad mini 4
Convenient to be able to scapegoat weddings, baptisms and communions if you are a militant secularist, or the kind of ideological anti-clericalist still to be found in certain quarters of the Spanish left.
Are Americans permitted travel to Alicante or Valencia with a PCR test if not vaccinated?
@@bothanspy4305 thank you. Appointment for the ITV has already been made by my dad for the day we arrive.
Make sure you have a set of ‘jump leads’ - car batteries in Spain don’t seem to like being left dormant for long periods!
@Dr Wolfgang Chausser . Wow! That sounds apocalyptic!
I'm surprised that you haven't stopped the counting. It makes sense! :)
😂😂
🤔....😂
Are you for real ?
@@tonemc6047 Very much so.😉
Like most things in Portugal compared to Spain an MOT is a piece of cake with centres everywhere run by the government. You can book an appointment and it costs around 30 euros.
More paperwork required, whatever next on this agenda!??
After opening Spain to British tourists this week, I'm wondering if the Spanish government are going to withdraw this due to the Indian variant currently spreading through the UK. France, Germany and Austria have now brought in measures for British visitors such as compulsory quarantines on arrivals. I understand other counties are also considering crackdowns.
Though not thru Pakistan, Bangladesh and China.....

Don't you forget that those swabs to test for covid carry your DNA which is obviously linked to your name and address
For all we know they could covertly be recording everyone's dna data
@@javibarcenas5661 That's why I refuse to take a test. Besides the CV19 is a lie: it's transmitted like the flu, it has symptoms of the flu, the same statistical people get this new variant of the flu seriously and die just like the flu, in fact in some countries more people were dying of the flu in previous years than this CV19.
Do you want to know what a pandemic is: The Florence Inferno of 1348's black death plague- 1/3 of the population dying in a 3 to 4 month period.
CV19 has an average of 99.97 survival rate.
Public transport in Valencia is close to perfect.
Nice table.
Does this also hold for people coming over from the EU to your house for a few days of holidays and a place to sleep?
No EU citizens are exempt.
That is why it has suddenly become a worry for UK citizens . It applies to our personal visitors.
My guess is if it was not highlighted nothing would ever have come of it.
As Stuart says his family have visited him and he had never heard of it.
France now restricting people from the UK entering their country unless you are a French resident or citizen. Due to the increase in the UK of the new "Indian" variant.
What bollocks. Uk had 0 deaths the other day. We’re in a much better position than france
Hey Stu, any news on if/when unvaccinated travelers from Latin America will be able to enter Spain with a negative PCR test?
How many people in that spike in Andalusia were vaccinated I wonder

That was before spain allowed tourists from UK.
