Some things from a Monster Hunter vet, you can *easily* beat the game using one weapon type. Every weapon has two dozen different weapon trees that all have different stats, bonuses and damage types. If you're fighting a fire dragon, take a water hammer. If you're fighting a wyvern weak to poison, take a poison hammer! It is 100% possible to go through an entire series with a single weapon class. Most hunts/quests wont take anywhere near the time limit. If you're properly geared for any given mission, you're set to beat it in 15-20 minutes easy, 25-30 if youre slacking. If you're playing really well, many bosses can be beat in under 10 minutes without issue. During the beta many people were killing all 3 bosses on any given map in less than 20 minutes. There are longer hunts, and when you're new you'll be a bit slower, but for the most part its really slow. Weapons are ABSURDLY complex in how they work. You can use them with very little knowledge and do fine, but the number of subsystems is insane. Just guards from several stances, hyper armor on certain weapons, parries on several weapons, various infinite combos, and the ability to link almost all of these abilities into each other depending on the weapon. You can just swing a Greatsword, or you can Hyper-armor shoulder charge into a Charged Swing into a stunning side slam that deal bonus elemental damage, into shoulder charge->shoulder charge-> Level 3 Heavy Charge strike that deals more than double the damage of any given attack in the game. And all of these can be roll-canceled into various attacks and defensive options. If you're looking for weapon depth, every weapon in Monster Hunter: World is almost a different game in how they handle. Its not the difference between a Dagger and an Axe like dark souls. Its the difference of Greatsword to a Helicopter, because the Insect Glaive is a weapon that literally never has to touch the ground when you're in combat with a large weapon.
Maybe not _easily,_ per se. I remember when I was first learning MH3, the Barroth was a huge frustrating wall against my newbie greatsword flailing. After much pain I did eventually take it down, but it would have been so much easier if I'd used a hammer or gone back to SnS.
As MH vet that has been playing since the very beginning on the PS2, i'm so glad this franchise is finally getting the attention it deserves as of late, simply cannot wait for the 26th so you guys, some of my favorite streamers, play it.
Hey quick note about y'all using Spotify. I love that I can use it to get caught up on the series and grind it out while I'm working, but do you think you could get them to get the episodes in ascending order instead of descending?
yeah i was watching ziz at the time tried to buy one 15c reloaded the poe trade page and it was a 60c lol and now its back to under 10c for the better ones
Huzufu, Gen is definitely one of the worse MH games, but it does have the most quality of life improvements menu wise, not having to spend an hour hub to change items and make a new armor set is nice
For anyone tuning in to this there is a lot of mis information. It's not all bad. But damn guys do a little research. For anyone interested in monster Hunter please check out Arekkz gaming channel or Gajin Hunters channel
The demo is just a fraction of what the game has to offer, In some ways crafting and making sets is more entertaining and addicting than hunting. Monster Hunter is the definition of "the grind". I can't wait for more people to try out and enjoy Monster Hunter as much as I do.
MonHun came out 5 years before dark souls, any comparison should be the other way around...edit: rathalos is easy for a hammer user, there are many tools at your disposal in a fight, not just weapons. Use flash pods to bring him down to earth for example.
Great podcast! Interest in Monster Hunter World is increasing greatly. However!... oh my... as a diablo 1/2 addict, watching gameplay of PoE literally fills me with fear and dread.... I may have to download this... divorce incoming...
I'm worried that Kojima has been limited for so long that now that he is free he is going to far into the crazy and he just keeps getting money thrown at him. What im expecting is that Death Stranding will be meh to bad, but it will be the game after it that goes back to being decent.
It's not good to be surrounded by yes men someone needs to keep things grounded tell you that something is nonsensical or stupid otherwise you get what George Lucas did to Star wars when he had nothing but yes men.
ZIPPPEDFREAK No it's not, A regular quest will have a timer of 50 mins, just like every other MH game. All MH demos have had short timers, Capcom wants to just give us a taste, not feed us the whole thing. Also, A Monster shouldn't take any longer than 10-15 mins to kill if you are prepared well. You eventually forget there even is a quest timer.
You guys know NOTHINg about Monster Hunter yet you speak as if those are facts and you are right. Please, do not do that, you are misinforming people! 1. Monster Hunter was originally a Playstation game 2. Combat in Monster Hunter is by no means a dumbed down DS combat, that's just ignorant. MH came before Dark souls that's the first thing. Second thing, combat is harder and more complex, so actually Dark Souls combat is like a dumbed down version of Monster Hunter combat. I mean, it is not but you made the analogy yourselves... 3. You can play the game solo without any problems 4. Time limit is not a factor in a normal game, at least not in the majority of the quests 5. Weapon varriety is vastly superior to anything I've veer seen in any action RPG style game, Dark Souls does not even hold a candle to it.
lizzieloves 14 So you think no one gonna cares if someone spreads misinformation of a game painting them in a worse light then it truly is ? Its a fact that they are wrong and they should owe this kind of discussion information gathering beforehand.
I wonder how things would go in reverse if cohhs wife was efamous and he came in and told her to basically say screw you 13k (25+k between all 4 streams) viewers i need to go out. Like was there 13k people depending on her to go to do whatever she did lol.

The confusion between Miyazaki and Kojima... by Cohh.
yep that was painful to hear
Thanks for the quick upload, great podcast.
My cat was mounting small monsters and helping me attack the big guy. Was amazing.
SKtheCheF Did you see his little paddle boat? Even more amazing!!
Thanks for the upload Jp!
More Adam!

Shout out to the Teamworkcast! I love those guys
that Dave_Human cameo
Monster hunter was originally a PS2 game -.-
PS4 will definitely have the largest community for this game
yeah i was watching ziz at the time tried to buy one 15c reloaded the poe trade page and it was a 60c lol and now its back to under 10c for the better ones
I started with 4u, and already have accumulated over a 1000 hours between 4u and gen
gobi_no_inu90 Yuck. Imo Gen was flashy trash.
Huzufu, Gen is definitely one of the worse MH games, but it does have the most quality of life improvements menu wise, not having to spend an hour hub to change items and make a new armor set is nice
Is there a free roam mode that just lets me explore the world and kill and collect materiels at my leisure?
Lucky Yolo yes, the game has such missions specifically for exploring and resource gathering with no time limit.
Cool thanks. Nice to know.
Thats great, thanks for the info.

Monster hunter the first one is For Playstation 2
Yaaay MHWorld talk!!!
The dream cast.
Agreed. I wouldn't be bothered if it was them 4 every week
Miyazaki is not the same as Kojima. By a longshot. That's like trying to compare Darren Aronofsky to David Lynch
Monster Hunter did the combat system BEFORE Dark Soul even a thing. saying it a multiplayer dumb down Dark Sould is an insult to the combat itself
The round time is probably going to stay 20 minutes to get more of the casual crowd who does not have hours to play at the time

I can't look at JP while he talks because his audio was slightly out of sync and it bugs me, but everybody else was fine
JP it's enhanced with Xbox One X
