Hi from Australia!🇦🇺🙋♀️ I own a 300NK and recently did 1200klm(700miles approx) in horrendous wet conditions on some terrible and some amazing roads over 2 days. The bike didn't skip a beat ,kept pace with 400 ninjas etc. Even carrying 135kg(150kg max recommended carry)maintained comfortable 125k/h on the highways with heavy rain in places. Was economical and fun. I hear a lot of people talking about resale etc but at the end of the day once you own one,I don't think you will want to get rid of it. If a used one comes up for sale in Australia it sells quickly so hard to get. I also think people who buy one that want a bigger bike will have saved enough on the cfmoto they will keep it as the daily ride and get a bigger bike for the weekends. I suspect in future the cfmoto 300 class is going to be the bike people will say I wish I had bought/kept mine. I am also waiting on the arrival of the 450SR in early 2023 for Australia and pre-order is open now. Have subscribed!
Hey Sharna, thanks for your comment! I thoroughly enjoy the CFMOTO 300cc motorcycles. Experienced riders can have a lot of enjoyment out of a small displacement motorcycle. Glad to hear you liked it, and had a good time with it. Resale value is going to be based heavily on supply+demand. Can also depend on miles and how their taken care of. We sold one at the store recently for $500 over MSRP because we didn’t have any new ones and it was what someone REALLY wanted. I think they are good bikes that will hold their value just as well, so long as supply stays low. Definitely a bike you could hold onto as a 2nd bike since it’s so cheap, or use it as a down payment on something larger when you’re ready. I am hoping to see the 450SR in the US by 2024. So I bought this bike. Not my first sport bike and yes it’s a bit under powered but the navigation is what sold me. The app allows turn by turn display on the screen and that was enough for me. I hate buying phone mounts 😂
The TBT navigation is an awesome feature on any bike of this caliber. To have it at this level of bike is just a statement of the value CFMOTO is driving to customers. 💯

@@intricategod3216 That may sound like a bit much, but the extended warranty makes up for a lot of the extra. However, you may outgrow the bike and the warranty would be useless. You might be able to cancel it if you sell it and the warranty company may pro-rate you a refund. I sold one to a customer for $6.1K out-the-door before taxes with no additional warranty.
@@Omni_Moto Thanks for the reply. I knew the freight charge was super high and we argued about it. Problem was, their the only place in our area with the bike. I told them the freight was high, and they explained basically with the way the economy is they weren't actually making a profit due to what they are being charged just to get the bike here. I don't know if it was a load of bull or not, but I pulled the trigger because someone else was trying to buy it under me during our haggling process. The warranty can be canceled or transferred. Man I'm a little pissed because I felt like the wool was pulled over my eyes. I'm not sure what else I could have bought at 7500 with a 5 year warranty. The additional 3 kicks in after the 2. I also bought my son a Honda Navi. It was 3600 out the door with a 3 year warranty.
@@intricategod3216 Well, your dealer isn’t exactly wrong, but they’re not exactly right either. Their cost to purchase the bike from CF was probably around $3,300ish. Their freight/surcharge will put them very close to no profit, but if they passed it onto you they get to pocket that. Even then, they should not have charged you more than $800 freight charge. Freight is about $360ish, there is a 2% tariff around $200ish, and the surcharge is about another $200ish. That means from invoice to MSRP they have about $350 in margin to work with. If they pass on all freight to you, they get to add $760ish to that. Which gets them about $1,100 in profit. They turn a small profit on an admin fee, and their set up/prep charge could add another $150 profit depending on how much it is. No we’re at about $1,250 profit. Any additional charged over MSRP is just more profit, and they don’t get 100% profit of cost of warranty contract. I’d say your dealership turned a profit of around $2,500-$3K+. That sounds like a lot, but that doesn’t stretch super far in a large dealership. Don’t beat yourself up too hard about it. Your dealer will be (or at least should be) more inclined to give you good service when it comes time for maintenance or future purchases. If not, take your business elsewhere.
I also got one ( 300SR)... Europe. I've got 3.300 kilometers on it so far. Love this little jewel! I'm very surprised at the handling of this bike. The Twisties are bliss! The after market faring (more racing) Makes it ride a tad better in my opinion, and other little goodies make this "little super bike" a real looker!! 200-350 kilometer rides are no problem, the position is perfect for my body... And I'm 5' 9"

I love the way these bikes look; probably one of the best-looking entry level sportbikes. I ended up with a KLX230 but the dealer I bought it at sells CFMoto and I always check out the 300SS if there's one in stock. If I had the room (apartment living sucks) I would just grab one since they're so cheap.

@@vikinggunsmith Get something you’re comfortable on. 1100-1300 cruisers are okay depending on if the motor is air cooled or liquid cooled (air cooled being more tame). A liquid cooled rebel 1100 is a lot of bike, and not something you should start on. Cruisers between 750-1000cc (shadow, Vulcan, Boulevard, etc.) would be best to start on for that style. Just do as much research as you can before making a good decision. You’ll get it figured out!
@@Omni_Moto thanks man I appreciate the advice I've been debating between a Vulcan or a 650nk not sure if I want a cruiser or a more sporty bike, I love the look of cafe bikes but my local shop only has ones that are a bit to much on the wallet in my opinion for what they are. And I'm doing alot of research before getting a bike cause I want to get something I can ride for a long time before I get new bike cause I don't want to get something and a month later want another bike lol and your videos help me figure out what I might enjoy for years after I get a bike.

@@KSxPharaoh Doesn't sound like it will be this year. The beginner bike class in the US is really world compared to the rest of the world. If they 450SS ever comes over to the US, I'll be surprised to see the 300SS stick around. I think with displacement that close, it would be one or the other staying. Hopefully time will tell! 😄

The 300SS's riding position is probably a little more dedicated than I'd find comfortable these days. But it's a cracking bike for the price. I was in my nearest CFMOTO dealership yesterday, and saw the 300CLX (same price as the SS). Have to say that I really liked the styling, and found the riding position very comfortable. There's also more seat real estate for a pillion than the NK or SS. Fairly certain that I'm going to be selling my R3, and buying a 300 CLX.
I'd say the only issue you might have with going to the 300 CL-X is you're almost taking a step down in terms of performance. If you're okay with that, then more power to you! I'd suggest moving into the 700 CL-X platform if you are jonesin' for more power and capability. Plus, cruise control!
@@Omni_Moto I'm happy with the step down in performance. It's the wrist and back pain on longer rides, especially with a pillion, that have prompted me to replace the R3. I can't think of any time I've ridden faster than about 120kmh, since I came to the Philippines. CFMOTO's 300cc engine will easily do that sort of speed, even with a pillion.

I love the way it looks but after sitting on one in the showroom at the dealer I and my son noticed a LOT of creaks and fairing flex. Their Adventura model felt more solidly built than this 300.
Hey Marco, I can understand what you mean by creaks/fairing flex. The Japanese bikes may not have as much, but there is still some areas where they cut corners and deliver similar quality without many features to back up their price tags. CFMOTO is still learning how to appeal to American audiences, and as they stick around longer here in the states, I think we will see minor improvements. Additionally, when you are paying around $6K for a motorcycle (a beginner bike at that) it's not going to be made with the highest grade components/fasteners. If that's what you're after, I'd recommend checking out something with larger displacement. The price tag will be higher, but the quality will increase with that. Price doesn't always equal quality, but I find that to be the trend more often than not. Most of the time you pay for the name with the Japanese Big 4, but for sake of saving upwards of $800+ for pretty much the same bike on paper, a lot of folks will be okay with minor things like squeaky fairings/creaks. It's kind of the nature of budget motorcycles. Anyway, thanks for your comment. I hope this helps you out with better understanding what you're looking at and what to expect moving forward.
Well, you're close to 800 now. Now how did I know you were going to give it a thumbs up. If I keep viewing your videos, you might change my mind about the AT. Just kidding. I wanted the AT since 2018 and still can't find the one I want. That is, unless I want to go way off somewhere and then honda wants a 200 dollar destination fee. Seems like I read somewhere that the AT isn't in much of a demand in the US.
AT is a pretty niche bike, but it can cover a lot of categories for different riding styles. As for destination fees, you’ll have a hard time finding dealerships who won’t charge that. Some won’t, but most will. And a thumbs up for most comments as long as they are free from any harmful material, because it’s helps the channel with the algorithm of course! Thanks for leaving a few. If you just need something for around town that gets good mileage and is nimble, it’s a great substitute. Reliability (at least from what the euro boys say) is pretty darn good. Only thing is sometimes the screen has some bugs every once and a while with the phone pairing/nav, but aside from that everything about them is solid, at least from my experience with them. For the most part these machines are very inexpensive to maintain! Finding parts at times can be challenging, but as for air/oil filters, chains, sprockets, break pads, etc., you can find plenty of items that will fit right up! Thanks for watching. Ride safe!

It can carry a passenger. It’s not the most ideal bike to ride 2-Up, but you can do it and it can handle it. I’d say the pillion is an afterthought though, as sport bikes aren’t built with comfortable 2-Up riding as a priority. A touring motorcycle would give you a more comfortable 2-up experience. How would you rate this against the Ninja 400? I’ve been looking at the N400 for a while now because it is beginner friendly but still has decent power top end when I start feeling more confident using all the power it has.
Ninja 400 is still a beginner bike, but with its parallel twin engine it can create horsepower more quickly and get through the rev range quicker. In terms of features, I think the 300SS is more bang for the buck. Realistically, they are both beginner bikes at the end of the day. If you want to save some money, I’d say pick up the 300SS and don’t worry about the extra power. Learning to use the power of the 300SS can improve your skill set as a rider, rather than relying on the extra power from the Ninja 400 to keep up with other riders. Both have advantages and disadvantages. It depends on your ranking of importance on features. If power and performance are what you’re looking for, you’ll have to pay to play and go with the Ninja 400. If you’re just looking to get your feet wet and have great features + low entry price to learn on, the 300SS is your champion. Hope this helps!

ninja 400 has way more power like double. I have one but im rarely going over 70 on my rides so top end speed isn't relevant to me. Its not really fair to compare the 2, cf moto has a 450 you could get

I bought a 300nk and I’m having trouble finding an exhaust for it (nothing crazy just enough to give it some volume). Would an exhaust for the SS fit the NK?
I’m pretty sure the SS and the NK use the same exhaust, but I’ve seen on the MT-07 where people will drill out parts of their exhaust to give it more volume/depth. You may watch some of those and then try to take that concept to the 300NK if you are confident in your abilities to do so.

And I’ve watched a couple videos on the SS and just about every one is saying that they both have the same engine, I think it may just be a fitment issue I gotta figure out for where the muffler will sit
TL;DR: Is it reliable, cheap to maintain, and can I get replacement parts easy? ... I'm new to motorcycling, but I'm great with balance and tricks on bikes, so I'm looking for a nimble commuter to work and back (7mi, 15m trip one-way). I seen some dirt cheap new Chinese bikes like the Daix and Xenom for $3,400 (same bike it seems), but I can't find any reviews or experience for them. This has me leaning back into name brand and want something entry and inexpensive, but reliable and street bike style (I will overlook comfort for style because I don't plan on ever being on the bike long)... I'm looking at a "2017 Yamaha YZF-R3 ABS" for $5,300 dealer price and "2022 Suzuki GSX250R ABS" for $4,600 dealer price (not my fav color), but came across the "2022 CFMOTO 300 SS" for $4,300 and it has me wondering. After searching a bit it seems CFMOTO is a major brand and not something obscure, so if it's reliable, then I'll buy it... Thoughts?
Go check them out in person. Parts are not hard to get with CFMOTO’s awesome supply chain/global presence. This bike has killer value and more features than the competition. That’s a tall order, but not going to rule it out. With the market as it is, I don’t have a single one of those bikes on the ground right now. Ninja and CF will eventually come back in stock, but since we are not a Honda dealer it’s hard to get my hands on anything from them unless we trade for one.
You have to purchase through a dealership. Manufacturer ---> Consumer direct isn't legal (as far as I know, I could be wrong). You may have to pay dealership fees along with that depending on where you buy from. Good luck! Ride safe.

I will eventually! I plan to do all of the CFMOTO bikes. Just have to find time between work hours to get them done. This bike is less expensive and has more features, but is down on power when compared to the R3. It’s just a beginner bike, so no need to break the bank, but if you can justify the added cost of the R3’s power, have at it. Can’t go wrong with either option IMO.
I've been but riding motorcycles for years. But I have a lot of physical limitations that require me to keep a lower seat height and as light weight of bike as possible. But I still want something that has half decent power. And will be reliable. I just saw after watching this that there is possibly going to be the 450 SC Coming to America..... now I'm kind of wondering if I should wait for that. Or just go with one of these two options.
I'm tempted to wait for it. I've looked into the ninja 400. It has a few things that are slightly better than the R3. But there are things that there are three is better at and better for than the Ninja 400. According to independent tests. I can't say because I haven't ridden either one of the two myself. All I can say for sure is that I know I don't want to go into the 600 or something like that. I've gotten on a few and they are just far too heavy. And far too much power. One of the issues I have is lack of grip strength in my left hand. When riding a 600 and the wind hits you, it basically tries to pull me free from the bike. The hand is not so bad that it cannot work the clutch lever or anything like that. But it just does not have enough strength to hold me on the bike if I start to come up from tucked position Under full power or at higher speeds. Having or not having abs doesn't really bother me one way or the other. And the slipper Cuts really doesn't make much difference to me either. Like I said I've been riding for a very long time. On and off now for the last 30 plus years. Off time was obviously due to Medical issues. No, None of them motorcycle crash related. Anyway as apparently I'm riding a Yamaha ysr50. Technically I have three of them. One's a modified 50, another has a 100cc 4-stroke and another with a 100cc 2-stroke anyway I just want something that's got a little more power for riding around in the city. None of these really have enough power to get you out of trouble.

Hi, I can respond. It would be okay for somewhat longer distance. I’d say anything 40-50 miles is doable, but not desirable. It can safely handle 70MPH, but it doesn’t have a ton of passing power on demand. If you are wanting to do 60MPH highways, it would be a great candidate, but again, over 50+ miles you may start to get uncomfortable in the saddle. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
I imagine it being more closely related to the FZ/MT-07 since it is still a parallel twin. Gotta love that 270° crank sound though. Yamaha really captivated its audience with that one, myself included.
Both are excellent choices. The Ninja has a little more power to play with, but the power shouldn't be the only concern. Both are very beginner friendly and provide great value, but the CFMOTO is the price leader and gives you the best bang for the buck. Ultimately up to you. Do you prefer a larger more well-known OEM that has a long-standing reputation, or would you be willing to opt for a lesser-known brand that still has something to prove? IMO, they're proving it, and it's the better beginner buy. You'll move on to something larger and faster than both of them when you outgrow the beginner class. Hope this helps! Ride safe. 😁

@@bobmemer9062 Depends on how good of a deal you get. The Kawasaki will hold its value better but also costs significantly more. If I was price shopping, the CFMOTO 300SS. If I wanted more performance, I’d pay more for the Ninja 400. I don’t have a preference personally. You’ll probably want to sit on both if you can and make your decision based on what you liked about one vs. the other.
This is a better buy than any Ninja 300 because it's going to come with a warranty. Plus, you're still on a starter bike at the end of the day. The Ninja 300 might have a little better performance, but lacks a ton of features that come on the CF 300SS as standard equipment. And, odds are, you can get a new 300SS for just a little more and it will be brand new with a full factory warranty, and you will have been the only person to ever ride it, which is pretty damn reassuring in my opinion. If the price point was half it would be attractive but you still have to put up with the dealership fucking you for destinations and set up at least spend your money and get something that’s not gonna have to go back to the dealership by Kawasaki you will not be disappointed
They attract you with their good offers also don’t fall for it you will pay for a bike worth 3,200 end up paying over 7k like I did don’t believe me I’ll send picture proof
So basically you buy this because it is low cost and appeals to the eye but I guarantee you give more back on lower resale price. Most motorcycle buyers will trust major brand bike but not so much for CFM with unproven long-term durability. The premise of buying a 300 cc street bike with a 0-60 time slower than that of a 4-cylinder Camry is 🤣 Being able to routinely use full throttle to make it go is not a linkable trait but rather an indication of a major shortcoming. IMO after learning to ride since my youth starting on small displacement dual sports if you have some self-discipline as a new rider then a 600-700 cc bike (not sportbike) is a much better option to buy used for street riding to build your skills. Better yet a bike type if dropped will not sustain lots of damage to flimsy plastic bits that cost a small fortune to replace. Then you can grow into it without wasting too much money buying an entry level bike that is hard to sell once you are ready to move on.
Hey, thanks for your comment. Here's my take. Resale price is completely dependent on supply and demand. For example, we traded one back from an individual who stayed with CF and just moved up the displacement ladder to a 700 CL-X. We ended up selling their bike (300SS) for more than the MSRP of a new one (it's not bragging about selling it for over list price, I'm just illustrating how they DO hold their resale, even if they are used). The bike is slow, yes, but I'd like to point out that the average 4-cylinder Camry is actually slower @ ~7.8 second 0-60 time vs the 7.07 I ran in the video lol. Plus, a Camry costs close to $20,000 more and gets 40 less MPG. Lastly we should talk about your point of starting on a 600-700cc. For those who are completely new to motorcycling though and have never even so much as thrown a leg over a full size bike, the 300 class is where they should probably be starting at. Not every beginner has the same comprehension skills when it comes to the art of riding a motorcycle though. I agree with you on the point where if someone has some prior experience on full-size off-road/dual-sport bikes and they have some self discipline, they could definitely start on a 600-700. It's better to get one bike and grow with it than to get the bike you will grow out of. In short, I think you have a biased opinion because of your specific scenario, but I see where you are coming from and can appreciate an opinion backed by your experiences. So you think that the Yamaha R3 would be better? You think it's really going to be more reliable? It's Made in India. You think that Honda is going to be so much better? Yeah it's not made in Japan either. That KTM 390 guess what it's made in China as well. None of these smaller displacement bikes are made in their original countries.
@@airdreams1 I wouldn't buy KTM because they are notoriously unreliable due to design issues and in particular faulty electronics. They use their customers as their test-bed. Then any low end motorcycle you buy is more likely to be built in developing world plant and tighter price point where manufacturers cut corners to get suitable profit . If you think about it all motorcycles have similar basic components manufactured using similar processes. For low cost bikes they use cheaper or less material to get something that will still work but probably not so robust. Flimsier handlebars, forks, frame, etc. So when manufacturers cut cost it is in the basic components that dont last ad long or perform as well and no premium features. It is mostly dependent on design and component quality. Engine manufacture is another concern that you should only buy models with proven track record from current point of supply. My main point if you buy mostly on price you get what you pay for and usually regret it later because fixing deficiencies later in aftermarket is expensive and you get no credit back for the parts you upgrade. Better to either buy slightly used higher level model or save your money until you can reach next tier. I personally would never purchase any street bike under 400 cc because the performance will suck. If you do you will tire of it quickly and then pay more in the long-run. If delaying your purchase one year won't make a difference in your ability to upgrade then you need to seriously assess your finances and not buy something you can't really afford in the first place.
@@airdreams1 If I were you I would purchase Ninja 400 with ABS. It is much better bike with more power and nicer features like slipper clutch. Also, ABS is mandatory in Europe and not U.S. because we have a public riding community that are horribly ignorant of the risks of riding and grossly overestimate their skill sets in emergency/panic situations. ABS has been proven through studies to reduce motorcycle death rate by at least 25%. Even more important for beginning riders to not have that first mistake be their last.
I've looked at the ninja. Then again I've looked at several of these lesser expensive bikes. The problem I have with most of them is the price. And yeah I understand what you're talking about about worrying about your finances. But you need to understand when I go to my local shops here, they want whatever their MSRP is. Will use the R3 for an example. Yes they currently have one at the shop. They want $5,999 MSRP. They also want to charge you for Freight, tax license and dealer doc fees, assembly, Shakedown. By the time you're done you can add $3,000 roughly to the price of the bike. That makes that R3 cost $9,000 out the door. You can add about $1,500 to that price tag for a ninja 400. To me that seems like a joke. Who in their right mind would buy a "beginner bike" for over $10,000? By way of example I bought my 2000 and 2005 Toyota Tacoma SR5 access cab 4x4 for roughly the same price as I could buy a brand new ninja 400..... if I ride the 400 for 6 months and sell it I might be lucky to get $4,000 -$5,000. On the other hand I could drive the Tacoma for the next 4 or 5 years and still sell it for 10,000..... and yes I realize I'm comparing apples and tennis shoes. I'm just saying it's not a good investment to spend over $10,000 for a beginner bike that you're going to lose 50% on in just a few years. Especially when you consider most people outgrow them within a single season. That really wouldn't pertain to me but again we're using it as an example.

I own a 300NK and recently did 1200klm(700miles approx) in horrendous wet conditions on some terrible and some amazing roads over 2 days.
The bike didn't skip a beat ,kept pace with 400 ninjas etc. Even carrying 135kg(150kg max recommended carry)maintained comfortable 125k/h on the highways with heavy rain in places. Was economical and fun.
I hear a lot of people talking about resale etc but at the end of the day once you own one,I don't think you will want to get rid of it. If a used one comes up for sale in Australia it sells quickly so hard to get. I also think people who buy one that want a bigger bike will have saved enough on the cfmoto they will keep it as the daily ride and get a bigger bike for the weekends. I suspect in future the cfmoto 300 class is going to be the bike people will say I wish I had bought/kept mine.
I am also waiting on the arrival of the 450SR in early 2023 for Australia and pre-order is open now.

Experienced riders can have a lot of enjoyment out of a small displacement motorcycle. Glad to hear you liked it, and had a good time with it.
Resale value is going to be based heavily on supply+demand. Can also depend on miles and how their taken care of. We sold one at the store recently for $500 over MSRP because we didn’t have any new ones and it was what someone REALLY wanted. I think they are good bikes that will hold their value just as well, so long as supply stays low. Definitely a bike you could hold onto as a 2nd bike since it’s so cheap, or use it as a down payment on something larger when you’re ready.
I am hoping to see the 450SR in the US by 2024. It has some good looking specs, and I’d like to get in the saddle of one. Not holding my breath though - time will tell. 😌

So I bought this bike. Not my first sport bike and yes it’s a bit under powered but the navigation is what sold me. The app allows turn by turn display on the screen and that was enough for me. I hate buying phone mounts 😂
The TBT navigation is an awesome feature on any bike of this caliber. To have it at this level of bike is just a statement of the value CFMOTO is driving to customers. 💯

I actually find that my 300NK drives better in eco mode than sport. Sport makes it idle ruff and makes engine braking more aggressive.

What did you end up paying out the door? I kind of pissed at the freight cost of mine. 3 year warranty (which = 5) 7500 out the door.
@@intricategod3216 That may sound like a bit much, but the extended warranty makes up for a lot of the extra. However, you may outgrow the bike and the warranty would be useless. You might be able to cancel it if you sell it and the warranty company may pro-rate you a refund. I sold one to a customer for $6.1K out-the-door before taxes with no additional warranty.
@@Omni_Moto Thanks for the reply. I knew the freight charge was super high and we argued about it. Problem was, their the only place in our area with the bike.
I told them the freight was high, and they explained basically with the way the economy is they weren't actually making a profit due to what they are being charged just to get the bike here. I don't know if it was a load of bull or not, but I pulled the trigger because someone else was trying to buy it under me during our haggling process.
The warranty can be canceled or transferred. Man I'm a little pissed because I felt like the wool was pulled over my eyes.
I'm not sure what else I could have bought at 7500 with a 5 year warranty. The additional 3 kicks in after the 2.
I also bought my son a Honda Navi. It was 3600 out the door with a 3 year warranty.
@@intricategod3216 Well, your dealer isn’t exactly wrong, but they’re not exactly right either.
Their cost to purchase the bike from CF was probably around $3,300ish.
Their freight/surcharge will put them very close to no profit, but if they passed it onto you they get to pocket that. Even then, they should not have charged you more than $800 freight charge. Freight is about $360ish, there is a 2% tariff around $200ish, and the surcharge is about another $200ish.
That means from invoice to MSRP they have about $350 in margin to work with. If they pass on all freight to you, they get to add $760ish to that. Which gets them about $1,100 in profit. They turn a small profit on an admin fee, and their set up/prep charge could add another $150 profit depending on how much it is. No we’re at about $1,250 profit. Any additional charged over MSRP is just more profit, and they don’t get 100% profit of cost of warranty contract.
I’d say your dealership turned a profit of around $2,500-$3K+. That sounds like a lot, but that doesn’t stretch super far in a large dealership.
Don’t beat yourself up too hard about it. Your dealer will be (or at least should be) more inclined to give you good service when it comes time for maintenance or future purchases. If not, take your business elsewhere.

I love the way these bikes look; probably one of the best-looking entry level sportbikes. I ended up with a KLX230 but the dealer I bought it at sells CFMoto and I always check out the 300SS if there's one in stock. If I had the room (apartment living sucks) I would just grab one since they're so cheap.

Thanks for watching! Appreciate the continued support. Small displacement has its benefits, and the fun factor is one! Big displacement can raise intimidation levels which can make it hard to focus on the fun parts of riding.

@@vikinggunsmith Get something you’re comfortable on. 1100-1300 cruisers are okay depending on if the motor is air cooled or liquid cooled (air cooled being more tame). A liquid cooled rebel 1100 is a lot of bike, and not something you should start on. Cruisers between 750-1000cc (shadow, Vulcan, Boulevard, etc.) would be best to start on for that style. Just do as much research as you can before making a good decision. You’ll get it figured out!

And I'm doing alot of research before getting a bike cause I want to get something I can ride for a long time before I get new bike cause I don't want to get something and a month later want another bike lol and your videos help me figure out what I might enjoy for years after I get a bike.

The 300SS's riding position is probably a little more dedicated than I'd find comfortable these days. But it's a cracking bike for the price. I was in my nearest CFMOTO dealership yesterday, and saw the 300CLX (same price as the SS). Have to say that I really liked the styling, and found the riding position very comfortable. There's also more seat real estate for a pillion than the NK or SS. Fairly certain that I'm going to be selling my R3, and buying a 300 CLX.
I'd say the only issue you might have with going to the 300 CL-X is you're almost taking a step down in terms of performance. If you're okay with that, then more power to you!
I'd suggest moving into the 700 CL-X platform if you are jonesin' for more power and capability. Plus, cruise control!
@@Omni_Moto I'm happy with the step down in performance. It's the wrist and back pain on longer rides, especially with a pillion, that have prompted me to replace the R3. I can't think of any time I've ridden faster than about 120kmh, since I came to the Philippines. CFMOTO's 300cc engine will easily do that sort of speed, even with a pillion.

I love the way it looks but after sitting on one in the showroom at the dealer I and my son noticed a LOT of creaks and fairing flex. Their Adventura model felt more solidly built than this 300.
Hey Marco, I can understand what you mean by creaks/fairing flex. The Japanese bikes may not have as much, but there is still some areas where they cut corners and deliver similar quality without many features to back up their price tags. CFMOTO is still learning how to appeal to American audiences, and as they stick around longer here in the states, I think we will see minor improvements. Additionally, when you are paying around $6K for a motorcycle (a beginner bike at that) it's not going to be made with the highest grade components/fasteners. If that's what you're after, I'd recommend checking out something with larger displacement. The price tag will be higher, but the quality will increase with that. Price doesn't always equal quality, but I find that to be the trend more often than not.
Most of the time you pay for the name with the Japanese Big 4, but for sake of saving upwards of $800+ for pretty much the same bike on paper, a lot of folks will be okay with minor things like squeaky fairings/creaks.
It's kind of the nature of budget motorcycles.

Well, you're close to 800 now. Now how did I know you were going to give it a thumbs up. If I keep viewing your videos, you might change my mind about the AT. Just kidding. I wanted the AT since 2018 and still can't find the one I want. That is, unless I want to go way off somewhere and then honda wants a 200 dollar destination fee. Seems like I read somewhere that the AT isn't in much of a demand in the US.
AT is a pretty niche bike, but it can cover a lot of categories for different riding styles. As for destination fees, you’ll have a hard time finding dealerships who won’t charge that. Some won’t, but most will.

Do you know how the reliability is? Would you recommend this over the 300 NK or the klx 300 sm (I know it’s apples to oranges)
If you just need something for around town that gets good mileage and is nimble, it’s a great substitute. Reliability (at least from what the euro boys say) is pretty darn good. Only thing is sometimes the screen has some bugs every once and a while with the phone pairing/nav, but aside from that everything about them is solid, at least from my experience with them. Hope this helps!

It can carry a passenger. It’s not the most ideal bike to ride 2-Up, but you can do it and it can handle it. I’d say the pillion is an afterthought though, as sport bikes aren’t built with comfortable 2-Up riding as a priority. A touring motorcycle would give you a more comfortable 2-up experience. How would you rate this against the Ninja 400? I’ve been looking at the N400 for a while now because it is beginner friendly but still has decent power top end when I start feeling more confident using all the power it has.
Ninja 400 is still a beginner bike, but with its parallel twin engine it can create horsepower more quickly and get through the rev range quicker. In terms of features, I think the 300SS is more bang for the buck. Realistically, they are both beginner bikes at the end of the day. If you want to save some money, I’d say pick up the 300SS and don’t worry about the extra power. Learning to use the power of the 300SS can improve your skill set as a rider, rather than relying on the extra power from the Ninja 400 to keep up with other riders.
Both have advantages and disadvantages. It depends on your ranking of importance on features. If power and performance are what you’re looking for, you’ll have to pay to play and go with the Ninja 400. If you’re just looking to get your feet wet and have great features + low entry price to learn on, the 300SS is your champion.

Watched this and the NK one and am now looking at the NK for my first bike since it costs as much as a previously-squidded MT-03 or Duke 390 etc
Price and features and the big takeaways from the CF 300’s. If you’re just starting out, you can’t go wrong. Sure, a few extra HP would be cool, but that’s not what beginner bikes should be about. It’s about learning and becoming confident enough to take the next step up to a middle-weight.

I bought a 300nk and I’m having trouble finding an exhaust for it (nothing crazy just enough to give it some volume). Would an exhaust for the SS fit the NK?
I’m pretty sure the SS and the NK use the same exhaust, but I’ve seen on the MT-07 where people will drill out parts of their exhaust to give it more volume/depth. You may watch some of those and then try to take that concept to the 300NK if you are confident in your abilities to do so.

I seen some dirt cheap new Chinese bikes like the Daix and Xenom for $3,400 (same bike it seems), but I can't find any reviews or experience for them. This has me leaning back into name brand and want something entry and inexpensive, but reliable and street bike style (I will overlook comfort for style because I don't plan on ever being on the bike long)... I'm looking at a "2017 Yamaha YZF-R3 ABS" for $5,300 dealer price and "2022 Suzuki GSX250R ABS" for $4,600 dealer price (not my fav color), but came across the "2022 CFMOTO 300 SS" for $4,300 and it has me wondering. After searching a bit it seems CFMOTO is a major brand and not something obscure, so if it's reliable, then I'll buy it... Thoughts?
Go check them out in person. Parts are not hard to get with CFMOTO’s awesome supply chain/global presence. This bike has killer value and more features than the competition. May not be the most powerful, but if you’re looking at entry level bikes, power shouldn’t be priority number 1.

That’s a tall order, but not going to rule it out. With the market as it is, I don’t have a single one of those bikes on the ground right now. Ninja and CF will eventually come back in stock, but since we are not a Honda dealer it’s hard to get my hands on anything from them unless we trade for one.

You have to purchase through a dealership. Manufacturer ---> Consumer direct isn't legal (as far as I know, I could be wrong). You may have to pay dealership fees along with that depending on where you buy from. Good luck! Ride safe.

Out of the two bikes would you pick an R3 or this bike?
This bike is less expensive and has more features, but is down on power when compared to the R3. It’s just a beginner bike, so no need to break the bank, but if you can justify the added cost of the R3’s power, have at it. Can’t go wrong with either option IMO.
I've been but riding motorcycles for years. But I have a lot of physical limitations that require me to keep a lower seat height and as light weight of bike as possible. But I still want something that has half decent power. And will be reliable.
I just saw after watching this that there is possibly going to be the 450 SC Coming to America..... now I'm kind of wondering if I should wait for that. Or just go with one of these two options.

I'm tempted to wait for it. I've looked into the ninja 400. It has a few things that are slightly better than the R3. But there are things that there are three is better at and better for than the Ninja 400. According to independent tests. I can't say because I haven't ridden either one of the two myself. All I can say for sure is that I know I don't want to go into the 600 or something like that. I've gotten on a few and they are just far too heavy. And far too much power. One of the issues I have is lack of grip strength in my left hand. When riding a 600 and the wind hits you, it basically tries to pull me free from the bike. The hand is not so bad that it cannot work the clutch lever or anything like that. But it just does not have enough strength to hold me on the bike if I start to come up from tucked position Under full power or at higher speeds.
Having or not having abs doesn't really bother me one way or the other. And the slipper Cuts really doesn't make much difference to me either. Like I said I've been riding for a very long time. On and off now for the last 30 plus years. Off time was obviously due to Medical issues. No, None of them motorcycle crash related.
Anyway as apparently I'm riding a Yamaha ysr50. Technically I have three of them. One's a modified 50, another has a 100cc 4-stroke and another with a 100cc 2-stroke anyway I just want something that's got a little more power for riding around in the city. None of these really have enough power to get you out of trouble.

Hi, I can respond. It would be okay for somewhat longer distance. I’d say anything 40-50 miles is doable, but not desirable. It can safely handle 70MPH, but it doesn’t have a ton of passing power on demand. If you are wanting to do 60MPH highways, it would be a great candidate, but again, over 50+ miles you may start to get uncomfortable in the saddle. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

I imagine it being more closely related to the FZ/MT-07 since it is still a parallel twin. Gotta love that 270° crank sound though. Yamaha really captivated its audience with that one, myself included.

CFMOTO 300 SS or Ninja 400 or Yamaha R3 for first bike
Both are excellent choices. The Ninja has a little more power to play with, but the power shouldn't be the only concern. Both are very beginner friendly and provide great value, but the CFMOTO is the price leader and gives you the best bang for the buck. Ultimately up to you. Do you prefer a larger more well-known OEM that has a long-standing reputation, or would you be willing to opt for a lesser-known brand that still has something to prove? IMO, they're proving it, and it's the better beginner buy. You'll move on to something larger and faster than both of them when you outgrow the beginner class. Hope this helps! Ride safe. 😁

@@bobmemer9062 Depends on how good of a deal you get. The Kawasaki will hold its value better but also costs significantly more. If I was price shopping, the CFMOTO 300SS. If I wanted more performance, I’d pay more for the Ninja 400. I don’t have a preference personally. You’ll probably want to sit on both if you can and make your decision based on what you liked about one vs. the other.

This is a better buy than any Ninja 300 because it's going to come with a warranty. Plus, you're still on a starter bike at the end of the day. The Ninja 300 might have a little better performance, but lacks a ton of features that come on the CF 300SS as standard equipment.
And, odds are, you can get a new 300SS for just a little more and it will be brand new with a full factory warranty, and you will have been the only person to ever ride it, which is pretty damn reassuring in my opinion.

No difference other than 1 letter. The SS is the USA model, the SR is the Euro/Asian model.

So basically you buy this because it is low cost and appeals to the eye but I guarantee you give more back on lower resale price. Most motorcycle buyers will trust major brand bike but not so much for CFM with unproven long-term durability.
The premise of buying a 300 cc street bike with a 0-60 time slower than that of a 4-cylinder Camry is 🤣 Being able to routinely use full throttle to make it go is not a linkable trait but rather an indication of a major shortcoming. IMO after learning to ride since my youth starting on small displacement dual sports if you have some self-discipline as a new rider then a 600-700 cc bike (not sportbike) is a much better option to buy used for street riding to build your skills. Better yet a bike type if dropped will not sustain lots of damage to flimsy plastic bits that cost a small fortune to replace. Then you can grow into it without wasting too much money buying an entry level bike that is hard to sell once you are ready to move on.

Resale price is completely dependent on supply and demand. For example, we traded one back from an individual who stayed with CF and just moved up the displacement ladder to a 700 CL-X. We ended up selling their bike (300SS) for more than the MSRP of a new one (it's not bragging about selling it for over list price, I'm just illustrating how they DO hold their resale, even if they are used).
The bike is slow, yes, but I'd like to point out that the average 4-cylinder Camry is actually slower @ ~7.8 second 0-60 time vs the 7.07 I ran in the video lol. Plus, a Camry costs close to $20,000 more and gets 40 less MPG.
Lastly we should talk about your point of starting on a 600-700cc. For those who are completely new to motorcycling though and have never even so much as thrown a leg over a full size bike, the 300 class is where they should probably be starting at. Not every beginner has the same comprehension skills when it comes to the art of riding a motorcycle though. I agree with you on the point where if someone has some prior experience on full-size off-road/dual-sport bikes and they have some self discipline, they could definitely start on a 600-700. It's better to get one bike and grow with it than to get the bike you will grow out of.
In short, I think you have a biased opinion because of your specific scenario, but I see where you are coming from and can appreciate an opinion backed by your experiences. Anyway, that's all I've got. Hope this provided some insight. Ride safe!
So you think that the Yamaha R3 would be better? You think it's really going to be more reliable? It's Made in India. You think that Honda is going to be so much better? Yeah it's not made in Japan either. That KTM 390 guess what it's made in China as well. None of these smaller displacement bikes are made in their original countries.
@@airdreams1 I wouldn't buy KTM because they are notoriously unreliable due to design issues and in particular faulty electronics. They use their customers as their test-bed.
Then any low end motorcycle you buy is more likely to be built in developing world plant and tighter price point where manufacturers cut corners to get suitable profit . If you think about it all motorcycles have similar basic components manufactured using similar processes. For low cost bikes they use cheaper or less material to get something that will still work but probably not so robust. Flimsier handlebars, forks, frame, etc. So when manufacturers cut cost it is in the basic components that dont last ad long or perform as well and no premium features. It is mostly dependent on design and component quality. Engine manufacture is another concern that you should only buy models with proven track record from current point of supply. My main point if you buy mostly on price you get what you pay for and usually regret it later because fixing deficiencies later in aftermarket is expensive and you get no credit back for the parts you upgrade. Better to either buy slightly used higher level model or save your money until you can reach next tier. I personally would never purchase any street bike under 400 cc because the performance will suck. If you do you will tire of it quickly and then pay more in the long-run. If delaying your purchase one year won't make a difference in your ability to upgrade then you need to seriously assess your finances and not buy something you can't really afford in the first place.
@@airdreams1 If I were you I would purchase Ninja 400 with ABS. It is much better bike with more power and nicer features like slipper clutch. Also, ABS is mandatory in Europe and not U.S. because we have a public riding community that are horribly ignorant of the risks of riding and grossly overestimate their skill sets in emergency/panic situations. ABS has been proven through studies to reduce motorcycle death rate by at least 25%. Even more important for beginning riders to not have that first mistake be their last.
I've looked at the ninja. Then again I've looked at several of these lesser expensive bikes. The problem I have with most of them is the price. And yeah I understand what you're talking about about worrying about your finances. But you need to understand when I go to my local shops here, they want whatever their MSRP is. Will use the R3 for an example. Yes they currently have one at the shop. They want $5,999 MSRP. They also want to charge you for Freight, tax license and dealer doc fees, assembly, Shakedown. By the time you're done you can add $3,000 roughly to the price of the bike. That makes that R3 cost $9,000 out the door. You can add about $1,500 to that price tag for a ninja 400. To me that seems like a joke. Who in their right mind would buy a "beginner bike" for over $10,000?
By way of example I bought my 2000 and 2005 Toyota Tacoma SR5 access cab 4x4 for roughly the same price as I could buy a brand new ninja 400..... if I ride the 400 for 6 months and sell it I might be lucky to get $4,000 -$5,000.
On the other hand I could drive the Tacoma for the next 4 or 5 years and still sell it for 10,000..... and yes I realize I'm comparing apples and tennis shoes. I'm just saying it's not a good investment to spend over $10,000 for a beginner bike that you're going to lose 50% on in just a few years. Especially when you consider most people outgrow them within a single season. That really wouldn't pertain to me but again we're using it as an example.
