Even with a jump. She has a different engine configuration with the six cylinder and I couldn’t see the other end of the ground wire. But, I jiggled it and it felt loose. Your video helped get her back on the road.

Thank you this is the problems that my daughters having with her Impala sometimes it will start sometimes it don't then I have to come give her a jump I'm glad you made this video thank you
I wish I would have seen your video 3 days ago same thing happened to my 07 except I didn't have any power absolutely none and after watching numerous videos on what the problem was and going to the junkyard and buying $100 worth of parts I never needed I figured out the problem when I went to take off the negative battery cable and the cable slid right off the post connector which was covered with seemed like a half a roll of electrical tape that the previous owner put on which also explains why I never saw it to begin with and the ground wire was to short it was barely able to reach the battery post so I lengthened the cable and smiled because I fixed it while kicking my butt for not checking that first so as helpful as your video is I wish I would have seen it before I ended up spending a $100 on parts I didn't need I hope nobody else misses your video before they end up doing what I did. I'm subscribing to your channel in case I have any more problems.
Wow the previous owner could have prevented all of this in the first place that's the more frustrating part about it all, because no person with common sense would cut corners like that. And also you having to throw money at parts you didn't need to trying to figure out the problem and solution. Well either way I'm glad that my video wasn't your exact problem, but it led you in the direction to figure out what your problem actually is. And even if I don't have a video to an precise issue you're having in the future, feel free to send me a message and I'm sure I can be of some assistance. I deal with a lot of vehicles on the daily, so I have pretty good troubleshooting information that can be helpful. Thanks, Dotsale

My engine light was on for a couple of months. I also neglected to change the oil. After two years of ignorance I finally got it changed. Now 24 hours later, the car died. Originally I believed it was battery and I'm sitting here shivering and why the f would I have lights....common sense tingling and I assume it has to be starter. I'm seniorfreakncitizen, got my two dogs with me. And looks like my sorry assume is walking home. I was about to get a handful myself, I was hopeful and inspired! Hey thank you and your son for both of you taking the time to do this for us. Took a small break to come in look at RUclips, watched this and going back out now to check mine now.
I have a '03 MC & my vehicle does this, ever so often....very frustrating! So, this morning it does it at the gas station. I'm getting no power whatsoever. I tried jumping it=nothing. Just dead all around! So, the attendant told me it's my security system saying it's being stolen, due to me not using the original key. Waiting for my mechanic to come look at it now. But, in the future, I will keep this method in mind & will follow up what the !mechanic did to get me back moving again. Thanks for the video, hun! Grace & Mercy to you! ~Wendy
When you say you aren't getting any power do you mean literally? I am asking if your headlights turn on with key not in the ignition, do your interior lights still come on? If you are getting zero power as if theirs no battery in your car at all? It could be a good thing (meaning your problem could best case senario). First thing to check and test is the most simple stuff. 1. Replace the battery or try to charge it at autozone, even with a jump a really bad battery will still fail to provide adequate power. 2. And maybe try this before 1. Check the connections leading to the battery itself. Based of what you're describing the battery isnt connecting with your Monte Carlo at all and it could be a pinched or loose wire from the battery try cleaning the battery terminals. 3. I would try jumping directly to the vehicle. Do this by connecting the jumper cables directly to fuse box and a ground on your car (dont connect the jumper cables to the battery bypass it) that will tell you if the problem is inbetween and narrow down the issue. Lastly, based off or you symptoms of the car ramdomly loosing power you have a short somewhere in the wiring or the battery terminals. I would try these simple things first and we can look into deeper issues if necessary? A security issue with the key or whatever else wouldn't cause the car to lose all power, a security problem just disables the fuel system, so I wouldnt worry about that right now.
Thanks man great video. Fyi it can also be THEFT SYSTEM. TO RESET OPEN DRIVER SIDE DOOR HIT UNLOCK SWITCH. TURN KEY FORWARD WITHOUT STARTING AND WAIT FOR SECURITY LIGHT TO FLASH UNTIL IT IS SOLID. TURN KEY OFF. TURN BACK ON WAIT FOR CHIMES AND SOLID LIGHT THEN START. WHEN YOU TRY TO START THE SECURITY LIGHT MUST BE SOLID SO IF IT'S STILL FLASHING TRY AGAIN. TRUNK MUST BE CLOSED
Q B this fixed my problem. I was about to call a tow truck which would have costed me $75 and who knows what fuck up problem my dealer would’ve come up with. Thank you very much, you save me a lot of money.
@@robertstout9101 i found out that the clip on the single wire was loose . I replaced the connector and fixed the wire the starter works just fine. Also i put in a push button from the relay to the starter to start the car.
Same exact problem for me but it is related to my car sitting in the back yard 2-3 years and it is dark now or I'd check for those wires ASAP. I AM electrically/car-inclined but computer what would I do without it? Ha Ha I'll check for blown fuse and ultimately get at the starter solenoid and give it a gentle whack with a hammer and the starter, too - Beyond that, tow it away for $$$. It is not inspectable but for who it'll be given to in return for snow-plowing it is worth getting mobile. I hit 'like' and thanks 4 the vid!
Wow. I have the same car. Though I haven't had this problem. I never would have figured that out. But if it does happen to me, I'll have somewhere other than just the fuse to check. Great job finding that. BTW - loved seeing you with your son doing car stuff! More dads need to be doing that!
@@suzyjaffray7858 just found out I got that problem to or simalar mind's top of my positive post on the battery touch the wire and it got power to crank up. Thanks
I have been having this same problem thanks for posting this. I will now be checking all of my ground connections to make sure they are clean and connected.
I watch this video and went out to my car and put it in reverse and then put it back into park and it started up. But I certainly appreciate the information because I have had this problem plenty of times
My daughters 2001 Monte Carlo SS same symptoms except only the starter is not turning over even though power to everything else. This happens randomly also. New alternator, battery and also an ignition problem repaired because of a recall. I just suggested a starter replacement to her just now. I will be checking this first thing tomorrow. There has been hundreds spent on this issue already including a tow to the shop. I'm actually excited to check it out. Thank you so much for sharing. What a life saver and pocket book saver. I will follow up as soon as I find something out.
Yeah based off what you're describing this definitely could be your problem? You'll need to get power to the transmission for the car to register that it is in park or neutral to start, so it needs to be grounded with a wire from the battery. Your starter won't even engage if the car doesn't know what gear it's in. That's the situation in this video. We'll look forward to the follow up thanks
DotSale The Undirected Guy We had the grounding wires to the block repaired and everything has been working fine so far. During the time this problem started my daughter said the transmission seemed to be “slipping” sometimes. I’ll have to get an update on that. Also, her mother said the fan would remain running, which is normal, after the engine was turned off. She says now after the repair the fan doesn’t do that anymore. I’ll have to get a follow up on that too.
Enjoyed your video. I have '09 Impala with different hiccups, but nice to see how someone else can fix their car. My airbag sensor, tire pressure sensor and my Check Engine for ECM sensor are lighting up my dash. I'll work more on it tomorrow...
Thank you for this video because my impala is doing the same thing and the mechanic couldn't figure out what's wrongs. So hopefully this will fix the problem.
My car has the same symptoms. Not sure if this is the issue but thanks so much for spreading the knowledge! Going to check this when my kids get home. I bet you have saved a lot of people alot money. Good looking out!
My Dad coming tomorrow to help me with the same exact problem! I am going to look so smart, I say that because he never taught me because I was a girl, so thank you for this and hope to let you know if it is the fix.
My 2013 impala around the same lines as yours big dawg! Only mine has no power whatsoever. I recently was changing out the radiator and fan though which is within that area that you pointed out . I’ll let you know how it went but man I’ll be ecstatic if this gets my ride fixed because I’m on day 7 with this . Thank you!
My son's car did the exact same thing as yours today. I drove to McDonald's this morning and it broke down at the drive through window. Someone helped me push the car into a parking space. I walked the three blocks home and found your video. After watching your video, I took my son back to McDonald's. I squeezed the wires one time. They were spliced together with electrical tape. The car cranked right up and my son drove it home. Your video saved me a tow fee and helped me diagnose the problem. I'm gonna take all of the electrical tape loose and fix it when I get a chance
I have a 2004 Chevy impala. Car shut off while driving and never turned back on. Tried to jump vehicle that didn’t work then was told it sounds like and alternator problem or bad battery. Both were tested and good. All power works inside car lights, dash etc like mentioned in video. Had to get car towed ($160) then was told I possibly needed a new ignition switch ($85) bought and replaced and still nothing. Just found this video and am hoping this works! Thank you so much for this video! Will definitely follow up after trying!

My van is showing the same exact symptoms, and I had my transmission replaced a few months back. Coincidentally I have an abs, traction control and airbag light. Wow. I have the same car. Though I haven't had this problem. I never would have figured that out. But if it does happen to me, I'll have somewhere other than just the fuse to check. Great job finding that. BTW - loved seeing you with your son doing car stuff! More dads need to be doing that!
Amen to that!!!
@@suzyjaffray7858 just found out I got that problem to or simalar mind's top of my positive post on the battery touch the wire and it got power to crank up. Thanks
I have been having this same problem thanks for posting this. I will now be checking all of my ground connections to make sure they are clean and connected.
I just ran into this problem today hit a pot hole then my car just shut off completely thank you dude
Thank you! This video helped me trace down my problem with a clients car in seconds!!
I watch this video and went out to my car and put it in reverse and then put it back into park and it started up. But I certainly appreciate the information because I have had this problem plenty of times
Thank you for the video. My 06 Impala LT was doing exactly everything you said. Your advice repaired my problem. Thanks again
That's great! I am glad this video helped you and thanks for the comment, it means a lot.
Great video, it has definitely shed some light on my vehicle woes. Thanks for making this video and please keep up the great work.
Thank you. This save me $150 I was about to spend on a new starter.
I bought one yestarday ill check today the car again and see if that the problems
My car has the same symptoms. Thanks for sharing your quick fix.

Hey thanks bro, your video helped me fixed my problem. My wire wasn't loss but my actual connection from starter came out. I appreciate your help.
You just saved me money young brother, and this was my problem. .
This just happened to me as well. Thanks for the video you saved me time and money.
My Dad coming tomorrow to help me with the same exact problem! I am going to look so smart, I say that because he never taught me because I was a girl, so thank you for this and hope to let you know if it is the fix.
I thought it was my solenoid but after watching this and messing with the wires it did help
Thank you!
Same thing happened to me. Did you get yours going??
My son's car did the exact same thing as yours today. I drove to McDonald's this morning and it broke down at the drive through window. Someone helped me push the car into a parking space. I walked the three blocks home and found your video. After watching your video, I took my son back to McDonald's. I squeezed the wires one time. They were spliced together with electrical tape. The car cranked right up and my son drove it home. Your video saved me a tow fee and helped me diagnose the problem. I'm gonna take all of the electrical tape loose and fix it when I get a chance
This just happened to me tonight....thank you much will start doing my checks in the morning
I have a 2011 Chevy Impala. I wish u were my mechanic. Thank you for your information.
Thank u for sharing! I wish everyone would b so thoughtful! U rock
I am having the same problem I am going to try this
I think my mother in law may be having this same issue.
Thank you!!!
We have same problem, no power to starter. Thanks for sharing! 09 Impala 3.5L

Hey bro I got to say thank you for this video I had the same situation just two days ago same thing happened my she says the car was fine and went to work and when she try to go for lunch she said the car doesn't start didn't now the situation until looking around if anybody had the same situation. And when I got there and me looking around RUclips videos and your videos showed up and just did what you did on the video and BOOM that's what it was thanks for that video
Thank you so much, my car just did the same thing out of no where, now I know what to check for
That's good, hope it helps, thanks.
& it works samething just happened to me but this video saved me 🤞🏾
Bro, I have a Chevy uplander, couldnt find anything related to this. I finally decided to look up other cars with the same engine. My van is showing the same exact symptoms, and I had my transmission replaced a few months back. Coincidentally I have an abs, traction control and airbag light. Which could possibly be due to a bad ground. Thanks man. I’m sure this is it.
Wow, thanks brother. You saved me tons of money and time
Thank you!!! You just saved me and my boy $200!
I'm in FL having the same problem appreciate that knowledge
Good share!
I noticed that GM doesn’t cover there cable wires at all!
Corrosion will take over fast.
Right they leave them exposed or either something that's cheap to cover them up
You can get that ribbed plastic in the tools and start covering the wires.
I'm currently having the same problem. I had my 08 Impalas spark plugs and spark plugs wires replacement. Had starter checked,it was fine. But this hasn't been brought to my attention to check. Wish me luck 🤞🏾. Thank you for the informative video.
This was very good information to see thank you very much. I am having the same issue with my daughters 2006 impala and it happened to her straight out of the blue. First chance i get I will check that out. again thanks!!
