However, Trump's historic wins in the Rust Belt effectively neutralized the steal, as even if they stole Florida, he would still win the election 277-261.

If Trump wants to Virginia, he needs to do better in those northern Virginia counties by Washington DC. 1/3 of the population lives up there and he was crushed by Hillary Clinton. New Mexico and Washington are solid blue states. Republicans don't do well in those states during midterm years and the don't do well during presidential years. The vote margin between Republican/Democratic is too wide. If Republicans put more resources into New Hampshire, Colorado, and Nevada, maybe those states will flip red. 2018 Midterms will be coming and that will be a test to the Trump presidency. We just have to wait and see.

I stayed up late to watch the results and woke up early to see if anything changed. Watching states flip colors is so suspenseful and stressful. Did the same in 2020 and the entire election was stolen overnight.

Democrats thought they could steal away Michigan, and they would have done so if Hillary carried Florida. (232 + 29 = 261, 261 + 16 = 277) But since Trump's lead from the other states he won were too large to plausibly flip, they gave up and conceded the state.

It's going to be very difficult to hold Michigan in 2020. Trump won by a margin of only 10,000 votes. Turnout was a big factor. In Wayne County (Detroit), Black turnout was down significantly. Obama won Wayne County with 595,000 votes. Hillary got 519,000 votes. Hillary would have won Michigan if she mobilized 10,000 voters in this one county.
Honestly the election maps have been interesting these last few years. I say that because 4 years ago Trump won because he took Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Hillary was projected to win if she got the south. 4 years later and Joe Biden does what Hillary was trying to do.

It was predicted that, if the votes swung blue, georgia could turn democratic. They didn't want to take the chance of calling it wrong, so they held out until the last second. Of course, the votes swung the opposite way, but that wasn't known until the day of. To keep in mind: if Michigan could swing Red, it was just as probable for Georgia to swing blue. That's how unexpected this day was.
I don't know if it's true. But I did hear one story that something illegal was going on in Georgia. Supposedly when Donald Trump won Florida, there was a signal for Georgia to 'go ahead and steal the election' for Hillary. But their plot was uncovered, so they couldn't. I remember during the 2016 election I was too young to vote so I supported Trump and when I told everyone at school that I wanted Trump to win most of the other students called me racist. The day after the election half of the students that called me racist didn't show up and the other half wouldn't talk to me for the entire day.
Also the 2020 election was the first time I voted and I voted for Trump and was a little disappointed when Biden won, but it was the first election I voted in so still congrats to Biden and hopefully we'll win in 2024

I voted for trump and the next day I went to school, the same people who called me a racist went super quiet, crying or didn’t even show up too school. i read that Democrats tend to vote early and theres probably more polling stations in the urban areas like San Antonia, El PAso, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, and Houston while in the more rural area you have to drive for like 30 miles or so
That was mainly due to Democrats in Austin and some of the Border Counties being the first ones to show up. Once the votes from the rural and suburban areas of the state showed up, Trump won it in a landslide.

In fact, the meticulous way Michigan officially certifies its elections is why Michigan doesn't see lawsuits in close elections (like Florida in 2000). Michigan elections are NEVER official until the third Friday following a general election. It's the tedious process the state uses to certify its elections that takes so long. That same process also prevents lawsuits. But it's the media that collectively decided to not "call" Michigan until the results were published as official. Under state law, that never happens until the third Friday following a general election.

New Mexico and Washington are solid blue states. Republicans don't do well in those states during midterm years and the don't do well during presidential years. The vote margin between Republican/Democratic is too wide.
If Republicans put more resources into New Hampshire, Colorado, and Nevada, maybe those states will flip red. 2018 Midterms will be coming and that will be a test to the Trump presidency. We just have to wait and see.

The irony of it all was that New Hampshire, a state that Clinton carried, was closer than any of the three states that they tried to -steal- have recounts in. There was alleged voter fraud in NH, which, if true, cost Trump the state and Republicans the senate seat.

Turnout was a big factor. In Wayne County (Detroit), Black turnout was down significantly. Obama won Wayne County with 595,000 votes. Hillary got 519,000 votes. Hillary would have won Michigan if she mobilized 10,000 voters in this one county.

That's how unexpected this day was.
I don't know if it's true. But I did hear one story that something illegal was going on in Georgia. I remember during the 2016 election I was too young to vote so I supported Trump and when I told everyone at school that I wanted Trump to win most of the other students called me racist. The day after the election half of the students that called me racist didn't show up and the other half wouldn't talk to me for the entire day.
Also the 2020 election was the first time I voted and I voted for Trump and was a little disappointed when Biden won, but it was the first election I voted in so still congrats to Biden and hopefully we'll win in 2024

But to be honest, those same people I went to high school with I never saw/heard from ever again so I didn’t really care as much as I did in 2016. That was mainly due to Democrats in Austin and some of the Border Counties being the first ones to show up. Once the votes from the rural and suburban areas of the state showed up, Trump won it in a landslide.

With hindsight it is funny watching them refuse to call states trump won like Georgia when they call states Hillary won like California without even starting the count.
Some Young Guy That's really not an accurate comparison, Clinton won California by nearly 30%, she got almost TWICE the number of votes Trump did in California, Trump had absolutely no chance of winning in California. Whereas in Georgia, Trump won it by around 5%, it was classified as either a swing state or a LEAN Republican state, not solid, not even likely, but leaning Trump, unlike California which was considered a solid Clinton state from the beginning.
Also the states of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Utah, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Idaho, Montana, South Carolina, Missouri, and Texas were called for Trump immediately or shortly after the polls closed in those states.

I used to be a Republican but turned Independent because the Republicans now are just paying us lip service and not getting the job done. They had six years to come up with a replacement for Obamacare, knowing that we could have a Republican as the next president. So when one did win, what happened? They didn't have a plan. All this time and they did nothing but drag their feet. So now Trump has to do it himself. As a matter of fact, all they've been doing is giving him a hard time. Screw that. I will never vote for democrats or third party, but I won't vote for RINOs either.

Jeremiah Cleveland Michigan has its shit together. In fact, the meticulous way Michigan officially certifies its elections is why Michigan doesn't see lawsuits in close elections (like Florida in 2000).
Michigan elections are NEVER official until the third Friday following a general election. It's the tedious process the state uses to certify its elections that takes so long. That same process also prevents lawsuits.
But it's the media that collectively decided to not "call" Michigan until the results were published as official. Under state law, that never happens until the third Friday following a general election.
