      It’s possible but it’s not that easy. You have to live at least 5 full years in Malta and for some people it might take much much longer.

    is it possible to get citizenship after 5 years in malta if I go down the MPRP path, I have heard different opinions about it. some agents propose it is possible but they do not know anyone who actually got a passport with MPRP.

    • @MartinZhel
      @MartinZhel  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, it’s possible. It’s not as straight forward as with the direct citizenship by investment program and it’s a bit harder but it’s possible.
      Obviously, people don’t want to advertise this so they can sell you the more expensive program.
      So you can apply for citizenship after living 5 full years in Malta after you become permanent resident.
      You can apply for citizenship by naturalisation as per the Maltese Citizenship Act, Chapter 188 of the Laws of Malta.
      But you have to live for 5 full years in Malta.

    2. can you sub lease the property ?
    3. How long do i need to rent it ??

      Once you get permanent residency you’re allowed to work in Malta.
      The reason why not many people mention it is because most of the people who can afford this program are not looking for a job 😀

      It’s possible to apply for citizenship after living 5 full years in Malta after you become permanent resident.
      But it’s not something people want to advertise for a number of reasons.

I mean - you can apply for the Greek citizenship after 7 years but almost everyone knows that they will not accept it if you do not have Greek ancestor etc. Or they just want to charge people more money? Thank you

    Greek Golden Visa Program seems to be cheaper than this one and yet retains most of the advantages you mention, no?

    • @MartinZhel
      @MartinZhel  Год назад +3

      Greek Golden Visa is neither cheaper, not better (even though for some people might be a good fit).
      In Greece you have to invest €500k in real estate for most regions. And even though the €250k still exists for some regions - these are bad regions that are not really worth it.
      Malta PR you can get for €100k.
      The second big difference is when it comes to taxes.
      Even though, Greece has special tax regimes like the lump sum tax it’s not a tax free country.
      And If you become a tax resident in Greece you will have to pay taxes on your international income.
      At the same time, Malta has 0% tax on foreign earned income ( if it’s not brought into the country).
      So quite a bit different when it comes to taxes.
      Greece also has inheritance tax, estate tax, gift tax, etc. Malta does not.

      As @MartinZhel said, it is not good.
      @user-rp6nt6jx3m
      You cannot work, you cannot use the public healthcare and it is almost impossible to get the citizenship. No need to mention you can never sell the property.

      €500k in assets, not necessarily all in cash. If you have a property worth €350k this adds up to the sum.

      I’m aware that the EU is taken Malta into the EU court for this but Malta is not backing down on this program.
      However, granting citizenship falls into the category of national laws, not EU regulations.
      And each country decides on its own what rules are for getting citizenship in their country.
      the EU doesn’t really have the authority here. So they will most likely lose in court.
