      Occasionally but during the period November to March it doesn’t get much use and yes there is a lot of condensation. But the only effect would be on any fabrics left inside.
      Once a year, usually a warm day in May we jet wash outside and give the inside a good clean.

    Hi there we have had our pod around 18 months ago it’s the m one. We absolutely love it. I know it’s expensive but is it? Compared to a summerhouse then no it isn’t. We had 3 windows so helps when hot. We have a dyson for when it’s either hot or cold. Seen comments about the rain but as mentioned if it’s put together and panels are overlapping I cannot see how that happens. We sitting in ours now. No rain gets in. Jet washed over a few weeks ago so nice and clean. It’s so contemporary and everyone comments about it. We have artificial grass down but meat consider the floor that is an optional extra. Think we may change the folding door to the retro fit port door. We have a projector that projects stars on to the surface. It’s so good to sit outside in all weathers. Any questions just ask.

I see that Hypedome now do a plywood flooring pack to retrofit .. but it seems expensive. I am interested in your idea … but where does the water ingress go ? Pools under your tiles? I would be interested in your thoughts. Thank you for your thoughtful presentations

    • @chrisdevereux
      @chrisdevereux  2 года назад

      Hi Julie, with the decking tiles we have, any water just runs underneath them, so your feet stay dry but we've found we get a few bugs living under the tiles! I like the look of the Hypedome deck base but not sure how it would fit to onto our (rather lumpy) sandstone patio and as it comes with a "ground membrane" I'm guessing they also had to deal with the bugs. If I was building again, I might have put down a foam base first on which to stand the dome, which would have sealed up all the little gaps around the bottom.

    • @julimt7
      @julimt7 2 года назад

      Chris Devereux Thanks Chris that is really helpful. Would a membrane under your decking tiles help?

    • @chrisdevereux
      @chrisdevereux  2 года назад

      @@julimt7 I think the water would just run under the membrane and I'd be worried it would never dry out which could cause rot problems. It might help with the spiders if you could find a way to attach it to the inside of the dome around the edges. To be honest, it's not been so much of a problem for us, so I've not tried it! Maybe the subject of another video :)

      Interesting question...Not that I've noticed, there's maybe a bit of echo in an empty dome but not once you add some furniture. It does block sound a little, but I wouldn't expect double glazing levels of quiet! It does seem to keep sound inside quite well (maybe the shape helps) so if you had some music playing inside, it would do a good job of drowning out the busy street.

      We use a normal electric fan heater, powered by an outdoor socket, it heats it up pretty quickly. Nice idea about the tints, I can't think of a reason why you couldn't apply them to the panels before assembling the dome, although you'd have to be careful not to cover the screw holes where the panels join together. It would certainly give it a nice look, although might not feel like you're outside/inside any more and that's one of the big draws for me.

    Hi Chris, looks great!…and really insightful video. I’m curious, what is it like in winter? With a heater do they retain the heat or do you have to have the heater at full volume all the time? I need an outdoor space but have to be able to use as an office through winter too. Hypedome say the can give me a panel with a hole for a flue for a log burner….from your experience is this a good idea? Thanks!

      @chrisdevereux  3 года назад

      Hi there, thanks for your kind comments! We do use it in the winter with a small portable electric heater, but I haven't used it all day long like that. I suspect the heater would need to be on low most of the time, depending on whether the sun was shining. It heats up well with just a little sun. The idea of using a log burner sounds great and I can't think of any reason not to do it as long as the flue was properly isolated from the panels around it. Only issue i can foresee when using it as an office is that you may struggle to see your screen in the bright daylight! Let me know how you get on. Chris

    • @CaseDadToo
      @CaseDadToo Год назад +1

      This dome is waterproof, but is not watertight. Remember that everything was removed from inside when washing it down. And he did say washing it made a mess on the inside. Inherent in the design, there will be small 4mm gaps in at least 1/3rd of the joints where panels come together, and water can be blown through those joints. You can see these gaps in his video. Most of the water will stick to the panels and run to the outside, but some can drip off at screws and corners randomly. This a great weather resistant product, but it is designed for the outside. Probably should refrain from leaving the television in it year around. Excellent job on the vid Chris. Very clear, easy to understand, and illustrated the points well.

    • @chrisdevereux
      @chrisdevereux  3 года назад

      There's no ring around the bottom, it's designed to sit on a wooden deck or grass. The whole frameless look would be ruined by something around the bottom I think. There are L-shaped feet that the planters sit on. They're attached to the dome panels at the bottom using the regular screws/nuts. Yes, all panels etc are pre-cut. The door frame is easy enough to fix if the structure is perfectly round (which it should be). It uses self tapping screws for the aluminium frame itself.
