I have a hertz 3 way speaker, the mid and tweeter work but the big bass cone doesn't move. Any idea what might be wrong? I wondered if the little capacitor or resister on the wire is broken, what could it be and is it fixable do you think..? Many thanks

Hi Daniel! sounds like the "voice coil" wires that are connected to "spider" are broken.. Spider is the lower part of speaker beneath bass cone that helps to move the Bass cone up & down to produce Bass.
Solution:
Just replace the Voice coil along with spider and make sure to glue them properly with bass cone and speaker metal frame. Check out my new video link below. It will help you restoring.

@@WePetrolheads thanks.! I watched your linked video. Looking at the speaker I think I'll need to take out the cone to replace those bits, but that will destroy the cone.. I guess. So I'll need to order a new come, voice coil and spider? Anyway thanks for your advice I'll look into it

My speakers jbl gto937 do not have the screw in back of magnet. How to remove open the tweeters in this case?

Thank you for replying. I removed the sticker and there is no screw. Finally after a while i tried pushing using a scewdriver and gentle hammering on that. It was glued and came out.

ok so those are company sealed speakers, first you'll have to cut black and red wires from the back those are tweeter positive and negative wires and then pull the tweeter gently It will come out , use the same method to clean it , put it back as it was before connect both wires again and sold them. put the cover back and apply hot glue using glue gun. (dont use superglue otherwise you wont be able to open it again)

you can ask any speaker retailer, they will direct you to speaker repair shops. you can get the parts from them "any part coil, twitter, speaker cones etc"
