we cannot/should not jump into frameworks directly like tensorflow. A beginner will be confused as it requires OOPS concept , or design pattern. , functions etc.
This approach is called top to bottom as popularised by fast.ai.
But it is good you were talking about building stuff.
Building something is more important than anything else.

Moreover when you begin to learn a language, it becomes cumbersome to learn as it does not give the mental satisfaction of creating something or solving a problem. Hence, one should pursue project based learning. Be it web development or android or any other language.

If you just go and learn a framework, and then come across a _while_ loop, you will not have that 'aha!' moment where you realise how it can be used. You would just know 'to do x, I need to use the y statement, ok got it'. I feel like you should start by learning a language, but don't go too deep into it, just learn the basics, and THEN jump into learning a framework or something.

You are THE AIR 1 and the brightest out there but as a self taught developer and final year CS student here are my two cents.
Thanks for saying that CP is not the goal.
Agree to your idea of directly learning application. But cannot agree that one should learn Android without learning Java or learn Django without Python (although this one still is possible).....You did a disaster when you said learn React without JS.....I would say when you want to learn JS you should learn how use JS to build applications in the browser (no react, no jquery, nothing)....then you should learn React.....
Your approach is 80% correct but telling people to learn React without knowing JS, or learning Android (which has numerous design patterns) without knowing the basics of Java, can't agree to that.
I have myself failed around 4 times learning React without knowing ES6 constructs properly, although that time I was already developing full stack apps (with fairly complex web services), some of which are still in production.

Sabka apna apna tareeka hota hai, also not everyone's objective to learn coding is to make an app or create a company or something, some people want jobs in top companies, which is not AT ALL wrong to aim for, they are right in their own way, don't push your agenda on everyone and making fun of them or mocking them, they are doing it because their objective is different, maybe your objective is different and it's fine, because different people have different tastes.
People practice problems and do CP because these types of problems are asked in interviews of top companies, also some do competitive programming because it is thrilling, it's just like a brain game, like chess. Not everyone's objective is same as you, the faster you understand that, the less toxic you'll sound.

Most of the developers always advise learning by making your own project. If you stumble into some problems, Google, Discord Server etc are there to help you.
Personally, I'd have also gone in the typical path probably. But thanks to COVID (why am I even thanking COVID, lol), I started learning Web Dev and I've come a long way so far in the last 4 months.
This is like, a student who always learned English Grammar, but hesitates to talk in English.
Rather jump into talking in English first, go for advanced Grammar course later (if necessary*).

I totally agree with this view, people willing to learn programming should work on building real world apps instead of learning DS & Algo, Being a CS/IT student it is really important to have a decent knowledge of DS & Algo because it teaches how things really work, but nowadays students tend to invest more time in competitive programming, this is only because a college grad wishes to get a job soon as he/she completes the degree and almost every fintech asks about DS/Algo and Development Skills are hardly considered, If you've built a really nice app using any of the full stack offering a beautiful frontend and decent backend but if you don't know how how to solve a particular DP problem, you're kicked out of the interview..
this is why most of us have to keep brushing ourselves in competitive programming instead of development..

I am a software Engineer at Google & have conflicting opinion on this.
The purpose of teaching you a language & DS-Algo is not to keep you far from the application, but to teach you the basic building blocks. Not all would want to learn Android, some want to learn Desktop Application, some web, some iOS. It's not possible & reasonable to cater to these requirements. An education system should be responsible to teach you fundamentals, because frameworks keep changing. Yesterday was Android, today is Flutter/React. Any person would be able to learn them better when they know DS/Algo/basic language.
Moreover competitive programming isn't that far from applications. It rather moves you closer to problem solving, many learns about Tries from that & not Android development. Also not everyone want to do application development.
Remember there are cheap Android developers but worthy software developers!
