I watched this movie in high school, and Murrow’s infinite wisdom in such morally trying times has always stuck with me. At graduation, my english teacher allowed us to write one quote on her wall, I chose: “The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer.” -Edward R Murrow

Robin Sattahip - We do, they just aren't covering a world war but they are speaking truth to power and exposing the vile deads and lies of those in political office who are only in it for themselves. We perhaps look back at these times longingly and with the clarity of hindsight and neglect to remember that Joe McCarthy had a good number of supporters and even today has people insisting that he was right. Partisanship wasn't invented in our time or just recently. It just gets more difficult to find the truth when you have some people and groups committed to lying and sowing discord. The truth does always win out and comes to the surface because of journalists like Murrow, Cronkite, Woodward and Bernstein.

Amen: journalists have been replaced by sensationalist sycophants who craft a narrative that suits their warped ideology. God help us all

@@nates9029 we do not have journalists like him.... We have those dedicated to the propaganda of the Democratic party in MSNBC and CNN and those dedicated to Republican Propaganda at Fox..... None are fair or impartial..... Liberals do everything in their power hide truths about themselves while exaggerating truths about the Republicans and the Republicans do the same thing....... you would be fired from CNN or MSNBC if you supported Trump on anything at any point and that isn't journalism..... It's using the power of media to make sure your political allies get and keep power..... Fox is no better..... It's too bad..... Luckily the internet makes major news outlets more and more irrelevant with each passing day..... Which is actually too bad

As a London boy of the blitz and the Battle of Britain. I can remember this man on the BBC along with other famous names broadcasting on Radio It was comforting to hear that somebody else in the world knew what we were all going through, and he (Ed Murrow) was there with us out there with the firemen and the heavy rescue .Looking back we were all front line soldiers age 6/7. In the end I was evacuated to a mining Village in Yorkshire! I was a novelty from Mars! We were all trained at School on gas attacks and gas masks and blast protection. We had to know the nearest Gas cleansing station and bomb shelters. I could write a book about it. , but Murrow describes very accurately.

I didn't know about this great man until yesterday when I saw the movie "GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK", directed by George Clooney, and recommended by a Puerto Rican compatriot in the comments section of a Jimmy Kimmel video.
My father was one of those migrants who every yr would leave his wife and two little kids alone in Puerto Rico in order to go make ends meet picking apples in either New Jersey or Connecticut. Sugar cane season would only last about six months and so those workers had to find a way to put food on the table and so that's what the vast majority of them did, including my father.
Didn't really understand how difficult they had it until today watching this program. Thank you for sharing.

I'm a little disappointed that Ed Murrow seemed to go against his morals after he took the government job. He's even sweating when asked about the "Harvest of shame," the documentary he'd tried to stop the Brits from showing in their country. Then, again, as his friend said, Murrow was human. So, he can be forgiven because, overall, Ed Murrow was a good, decent & quite an accomplished man. It's saddening that he died relatively young. May he RIP. Damn cigarets!

Yes the speech he gives about TV and media should not be used solely as entertainment was very relevant than and now but look how the quality of reporters and broadcasters has diminished also.

One day, perhaps, when you’re older, you will understand all that he was saying and accomplished in the opening speech in the film. Good luck and good night partly surmises the conditions we find ourselves in today in this country, and we need a lot more men like.Murrow

Great journalist great man. He would be sad to know that McCarthyism has risen again and took form in woke cancel culture. He was one of the first to speak out against McCarthyism and fought it and won. History always repeats itself when one does not learn from its lessons
