    Neither. They're both tourist traps. You'd be better off in the same general area, but several suburbs away.

    Lots of better places to live in Sydney - Depending on what floats your boat - Newtown, Glebe, Balmain, Five Dock, Coogee, Cronulla, Bundeena, Leura, Springwood, Penrith, Parramatta, Castle Hill, Chatswood, Dural, Camden, Olympic Park, Rhodes, Mosman, Watsons Bay, or most any of the other 600 or so suburbs. Each has its own features, most are easily accessible to each other, so nothing stopping you from living in a cheaper place and going to places of interest. So many overseas people can't see past the harbour; that's only about a quarter of the place.

    The locals in manly can be very rude in the surf I had a group of them attack me because hot one to many waves I was very concerned it’s feels as if tourists are second class citizens there .

    • @DontWonderExplore
      @DontWonderExplore  2 года назад +1

      Yes, haven’t experienced that personally in the surf but have heard of that elsewhere when surfing. Otherwise, I didnt experience and hostile locals in my year in Manly!! Sorry to hear you had that experience.

    hi trust u well Mr explore ho n how will I o we make contact for who's looking for drivers or worker's in general I mean any kind of work 😮

    • @DontWonderExplore
      @DontWonderExplore  2 года назад +1

      Yes, for work. People figured things out once on the ground there! Contacts with working agencies in construction and stuff through Facebook groups etc.. that is what I found. Gumtree was for housing and I believe sometimes work, but can’t say much more about that!! I’d look online for more info! Good luck

    Think of other places. How important is surfing to you? Having lived for some time at Cremorne Point, I suggest that one of the harbour-side suburbs is well worth thinking about. You still can have the ferry ride to and from work in the city. A great plus for Manly and the other suburbs on a ferry route is that it's by far the most relaxing travel home after a long day's work. If you do want an evening surf, Manly and Harbord are only a short drive.

      @@DontWonderExplore All is well thanks, but I'm a bit of an interloper on this and similar threads. I'm an Australian and have lived in Sydney virtually all of my life. I'm coming to this thread from a different perspective which may be useful. I did live in Cremorne Point for a while and that let's me make the sort of comment I did. I also shared a unit in Darling Point and that's another perspective. Where we've lived for the last 45 years is not the sort of area where people reading this are likely to live, but if it becomes relevant I can comment on that.

      Sounds good! Traveler local. “Local traveler” as in one who moves around a city; it’s all a similar but different perspective I’d say! I’ve had my own experience living in different parts of global cities and it’s unique, interesting! One really peels back the layers of a city by experiencing life in different suburbs! Appreciate any comments or helpful info you’d like to add to the thread! All the best!

    Manly has 12 Beaches for swimming. 3 Tidal rock pools. A 74 acre National Park for walking. Protected Aquatic reserve for snorkelling or scuba diving. Plenty of Shops, Cafes, Restaurants, Bars and Clubs. Plus its only 20 mins by fast ferry to the city.

    As a Sydneysider who is older than 20, I'll suggest that both of these places are fun for a young person for a short while.
    They're both inhabited by a combination of tourists and douchebags ( Bondi more so than Manly).
    Plenty of places nearby to both that will allow you to enjoy as much of the beach life as you want, without the overcrowding and ego.

    Coming from Melbourne I always thought Manly was something special.. considering it’s only a 25 min ferry ride to the CBD it’s not that much further out than Bondi.. if I was younger I may of considered living in Bondi seeing how it is closer to the inner city night life but at this stage in my life moving to Sydney three years ago Manly / Northern Beaches was definitely the choice for me. I’d say it’s the most laid back most beautiful part of Sydney and possibly the best place in Australia to live..

      Brian Glenn yes manly is a great place! And you should most definitely visit Bondi next time you’re there! I’d go on a morning in the weekdays and you’re likely to have less people and be able to enjoy the walks along the promenade , beach, etc. cheers!

      Yes for longer term stays I would agree with you, but for the working holiday makers Manly & Bondi provide a better mix of social scene, beach access, and closer to CBD access for work.

      @doubledee9675 Год назад +1

      @@DontWonderExplore How long is a working holiday - I'd have thought more than a few weeks and that would make the longer journey into the CBD acceptable. And lots of jobs locally around Manly and into the northern peninsula rather than the CBD. And a last good reason is that there is a much higher proportion of locals as you get way from either Bondi or Manly - Bondi in particular.
