    I buy the battery online at ebay for $20 shipped. I am about to buy my 3rd replacement battery. When i get it, i write the date on the bottom of the battery in marker. My last battery lasted 3.5 years. I had the roomba since 2005, and during it's lifetime, it picked up a lot of dirt for us. Well worth the $20 every 3 years to keep it running.

    @videal10 Interesting idea, but we caution not to scratch hard, and do not allow the contacts on the battery to be in contact with each other (causing a short). Essentially, taking a look to see if there is any residue on the contacts and cleaning them is always good.

    I have a Roomba pro elite and it doesn't light up when it is plugged into the charger I bought a new battery and charged it up and it only lasted a couple minutes before turning from Green to red and dying I tested the ports for the battery while hooked up to the charger and it has 18.6 volts at the battery. What can I do?

    So... Keep charging for 72 hrs. even if the light goes from amber to green?

    I have a problem similar to this on my 410 RED. After being plugged in for a little over 48hrs, its green light suddenly turned off and now it refuses to function or even charge. I have no homebase, just a standard charger. The robot has been stored away for a little over four years now. Is there any chance I can save the battery or is it out of commission for good? Because the only way to get a replacement RED battery now is through iRobot's website, and batteries there are very expensive.

    i have a roomba pro elite original (red) that i haven't used for years and tried to charge but it failed. I bought a new battery and it did charge but the indicator light still looked kind of yellow after about 15 hours. i powered up my old roomba and it cleaned for almost 2 hours. is that what i should expect? i also had to super glue my tread that was completely torn off on a wheel. cleaned very good for an old roomba.

      +Kim Kutter Usually, the first charge can last between 1 to 3 days, depending of the robot. We would suggest you to plug the robot and let it charge until the amber light turns to green.

    Replacement Roomba batteries last for 1.5 to 2 years with proper care and will maintain your robot healthy. We feel that this is a fair price for your robot to keep helping with your household chores.

    I have a Roomba scheduler and as soon as I press the clean button it stops and it the light turns red and makes 4 beeps and I fully charge it but it doesn't do anything

    • @RobotShopTV
      @RobotShopTV  6 лет назад

      Hi,
      According to the 4 beeps, your Roomba is experiencing an issue with the battery.
      We will redirect you to the official page to help you troubleshoot your issue: homesupport.irobot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7273

    on my Roomba discovery, the green light never comes on, no mater how long it charges, only the red light stays on when charging and turns off when unplugged. it never moves or vacumes at all, ocasionlly it will beep a little bit when manually docking... but nothing really happens. is the battery shot?... it is quite a few years old but was never actually used... I dont wanna replace the battery if the robot s whats broken. thank you...

      Thank you for contacting Robotshop. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with your robot. If, when you're charging your unit and there's no green light, it may be a battery problem. Note that if you don't use your robot and leave the battery inside for a long period of time, it's gonna drain the battery and eventually the battery will be useless. Also, if you've had your robot for a long time and had not changed the battery in a long time, it might be a good idea to change it. A battery normally lasts 1-2 years. Here's a link where to buy the battery: www.robotshop.com/en/tenergy-roomba-aps-battery.html

  • @RobotShopTV
    @RobotShopTV  11 лет назад

    On the charger itself you should see a solid green light. If not, there is possibly an issue with your charger. You may also verify the output voltage of the charger with a voltmeter. You should have 22V output from the charger. The issue could be with the charger, battery or robot itself. You may contact us via our support center for further troubleshooting if need be.

    I have the discovery; it runs fine, but for only a minute or two; it stops and I have to push the clean button again. The battery is charged...the robot just stops and is NOT hung up...it's in the middle of the floor...blinking...but not running until I push clean again...every minute or two. What do I do to fix this?

    • @RobotShopTV
      @RobotShopTV  7 лет назад

      Has the battery been replaced within the last year? The battery can last between one to two years with proper care. If the robot doesn't work for more than a minute before shutting down, it could be caused by a battery that has reached its end of life.

    This procedure works EXCEPT, at least for the scheduler, you need to hold the reset button for 30 seconds, not just 15.

    I put in a new battery & it did not fix the problem. Battery is good but I have to push the clean button every 80 seconds to make it run.

    “Visit triple W?” I get that this video is a decade old, but I’ve been browsing the internet since the early 90s, and NO ONE has ever told people to visit “triple W.” “World Wide Web” sure, but “triple W?”

    Make one for the 405.

    • @RobotShopTV
      @RobotShopTV  10 лет назад

      For the Roomba 405, we recommend to remove the battery and then hold the clean button for at least 30 seconds. This will discharge all the electronics inside the robot and reset it.

    I had a Roomba Discovery new in the box and never opened it until a few days ago. Obviously after so many years of non use the original battery would not hold a charge, so I purchased a new battery. After charging up the new battery I ran the Discovery and it kept shutting down after a few minutes. The Clean button would flash and the status light was a solid amber, it also made a "Beep Bup, Beep Bup" sound. If I pressed the Clean button again, it would run for a few more minutes, then shut down. I've tried charging the battery for 72 hours and the reset procedure in this video, but it keeps shutting down after a few minutes. How do I fix this thing?

      Hi Dan,
      Thank you for contacting us.
      We are sorry about the issues with the robot.
      Have you noticed if the old battery has oxidized?
      If that's the case, then it is really possible that the pins, in the robot, where the battery makes the contact, have also oxidized.
      If that not the case, then it is probably a defective battery.
      Please verify that and let us know the outcome.
      Sincerely,

    • @Resist4
      @Resist4 6 лет назад

      As I already stated, the original battery wouldn't hold a charge so I purchased a new battery which works great. But no, there is no oxidizing on the contacts.

      Hi Dan,
      In that case, we are going to exchange the battery.
      Can you please provide us with the Order ID and confirm your shipping address?
      Best regards,

      I did not purchase the new battery through you. But again, this battery isn't the problem, it charges fine and holds a load.

      Hi Dan,
      If we understand correctly, the battery is good but the robot won't start and beeps non stop.
      is that correct?
      Is it possible that you send a video showing what the robot does, please?
      We will wait on your reply.
      Sincerely,

    The problem with this procedure is that the battery will be totally discharged when the max is used and from what I've read in dozens of postings about a common Roomba failure the two internal mosfets will now be overheated and destroyed. These are U2 and U4, and they are part of the internal charging circuit. They burn out and then the Roomba will not recharge the battery even if you plug in the power directly to the robot. It's clearly a total failure and perhaps a scam to get the Roomba to fail and have you buy another one or spend a lot of money repairing it. So I would not recommend anyone using this reset feature, unless you recharge the fully discharged battery using another charger, at least part of the way.
