It doesn't take much research or critical thinking to understand that both are avaricious and without scruples or integrity. I look to see people who have shown consistency and integrity over a whole career. I look towards history and see that FDR's New Deal policies led to the 46 most prosperous years in our nation's history while Reagan's laissez faire rebuke of them (which every president since has mirrored ) led to consistent crashes, recessions and the worst economic inequality since the Gilded Age. Sanders' policies echo those of Roosevelt. I have learned a great deal. However, intelligence and knowledge are two very different things. Intelligence is something one is born with and knowledge is acquired or in your case, not.

Not being an american I really hope this man wins. The world needs a pro environamental US leader who will fight climate change instead of dismissing it for personal gains. The world can also benefit from the example that senator Sanders can make by applying progressive measures and laws in the country, so that hopefully more will follow on his ideals. Nomiki Konst is running for Public Advocate in NYC and she's pushing for $30/hr for companies with over 75 employees--even $15/hr is too little to afford rent in NYC. But it's a start and without Bernie advocating for a living wage, such measures around the country wouldn't have had as much traction as they do now!

Of all affected businesses, restaurants are at the greatest risk of losing their ability to operate under the strain of crushing financial demands. They run at the highest day-to-day operational costs of any business, partly because they must employ more people to run efficiently. In cities like New York, Washington DC, and San Francisco, even a restaurant that has great visibility and lots of traffic cannot keep up with erratic rent increases and minimum wage doubling.
When the minimum wage for tipped workers was much lower, employees sourced most of their income from guest gratuities, so restaurants were able to staff more people and provided ample training to create a highly skilled team. The skills employees gained through training and experience then increased their value to bargain for future, better-paying jobs.
Management-level employees, who earn a salary, are not subject to overtime rate protections, and minimum wage hikes cause restaurants to use them in place of their expensive hourly subordinates. Despite their additional skills and qualifications, managers of most restaurants subject to a $15 minimum hourly wage stay stagnant at their minimum annual compensation of $58,000. Thus, as I know well from holding one of those positions, responsibilities formerly relegated to hourly staff become managers’ duties. They are thus frequently required to wait tables or bartend atop their managerial duties, all while handing any earned gratuity to the staff.
For now, the $5 tip credit provides a small comfort to restaurants, but as in DC, there is a strong push to have the credit removed in the deeply misguided name of “fair pay.” Eventually, minimum wage laws and other prohibitive regulations will cause the world-renowned restaurant life in cities like New York, DC, and San Francisco to cease to exist. The staff skill levels will drop, the number of servers and bartenders will never be enough, and the only survivors will be fast-casual chains with low overhead and deep pockets.
New York’s new look will be vacant storefronts between an occasional Pret-a-Manger or the public restroom formerly known as Starbucks. But don’t worry. That charming, downtown studio apartment will still run about $5,000 per month for the privilege of proximity to all that culture.

GUYS! We have "free" healthcare here, you actually pay still, but its barely nothing. The state doesn't "tell me what to do with my body" (I actually heard that as an argument against healthcare reforms..), it's just clear, that whenever I need it, I CAN go to the doctor. I CAN get necessary meds bc my insurance pays it. I do not have to be scared of having an accident and losing ALL of my life savings like my grandma in Chicago used to.
Here, if I WANTED to I could always get private insurance where they pay for more services and I in turn pay more. But literally no one ever in Germany has complained about us having obligatory health insurance...

Look: why should I try to convince people of something evil? I wouldn't. I'm just trying to tell the truth of my reality here, with different political views than in America. I go to university here. For free. I pay a certain university fee which is basically nothing and which also pays for my public transportation. I have been feeling sick, so I just went to the doctor and got some meds and some advice. Back when I tore my heel tendon I received a super long operation, treatment and a long fucking stay in a hospital basically for free except I had to pay 10€ a night I stayed, BUT i had a lot of time to pay it back (my insurance payed and I payed them back) and the maximum amount I would have to pay for was 28 days, after that, staying at the hospital is free too.
When I was in Chicago a few years ago cousins of mine were already completely burnt-out in HighSchool because they were trying to get all kinds of scholarships and from having the pressure of their parents working two jobs just to afford your education.
Here: you do not pay to apply as a regular german student and once you are a student your parents are obliged by law to support you financially so that you can study. There are rules about how much money you get and if your parents do not earn enough then you get something we call BAföG. The state will now loan you money until you finish your studies, BUT after finishing your studies you have 20 years to pay HALF of the money that was given to you back. 50% and the rest is given to you by the state because a population which is educated probably also will up the GDP and make the country smarter, more advanced, more happy, more diverse, more prone to stay away from extremist views, and generally just more prosperous and healthy.
Sorry to hear you were suffering in Germany and you hope it would get better with Trump. I really do understand that there are many structural problems which make people think there is no other solution than this guy, but we need to talk to each other in a nice way, and at least maybe try to get where we are coming from. But I and the people around me here really do wish Americans would know that politics can look very different (not perfect, not in a completely satisfying way, but at least much BETTER). I really am not suffering at all living here, and I feel for the american people over there, you deserve certain experiences as well. for example health care, free universities, etc.

What I meant is that when I read texts of Marx in University Marx actually had some very interesting things to say about society being divided in classes and there being conflict inbetween them(Klassenkampf) and the way we view things and think they are wort a certain amount of money when in reality the true worth of an object is what we can do with it, and so on.. I am no expert on him or communism, I just read some Marx in uni and say that not all ideas from the original communist Marx were bad, I do not say they all are, nor that countries trying to adopt communism do great things.
