Investors are buying up homes and leaving them empty in Rochester which increases home prices and takes homes away from first home buyers. Property taxes are out of control thanks to City Council's many expensive projects. Too many TIFs.
@michelle4america Thanks for your comment. While it's true there are investors buying up homes for rentals, the bulk of them aren't vacant. This isn't happening just in Rochester, it's all over the country ad yes, this causes a shortage in housing for first-time home buyers. Property taxes for Rochester are actually only .1% higher than the national average for comparable cities, and we do agree that what they choose to use the tax money for can sometimes seem unneeded.
