The faster you move relative to something else, or the stronger the gravitational pull is, the slower time moves for you. So you _could_ travel fast enough that one year for you makes up for 100 years back home.
Backwards time travel appears to be impossible under known physics though, and would require some _extreme_ changes to pretty much every concept we know.

See, for you Length * Width * Depth plebians, the closest sort of time travel woukd be travleing past the speed of light, where your time sort of dialates making you age much slower than the more stationary nouns. Sure, you’ll still age, but you’ll only age like - I don’t know, ten minutes or months or something? - while the rest of the universe has aged a decade!
I would also like to hypothesize the difference between how 4D and 5D beings travel between dimensions. I’d like to think that 4D beings have to literally move to the point where the timeline branches and then back to the targeted time frame in the different dimension, and 5D beings can just move in a straight line. I mean it makes sense, seeing how unrestricted 5D beings are compared to lower dimensional beings.
I mean, if you look at that one Myth Bad End video, you can literally see Ame use that watch to go through different branch points to get to the end of time! I mean, I wonder why Ame couldn’t just use one portal to get to the Unwritten since the point is literally always in a straight line, but still!
