Shift assist can be used on upshifting, u cannot let up on throttle, its great for passing as no clutch is needed, its a bit clunky in they lower gears, downshifting has to be done with throttle closed, great for hairpin turns coming up quick, again no clutch needed, its is what's its intended to be ....... shift assist, I use its as a performance tool not a option to drive they bike in a automatic mode verses manual. Bike is more than a roadsters, traction control, abs, heated grips, driving modes, rain, road, dynamic, GPS prep, electronic suspension adjustment, shaft drive, brembo brakes, center stand , some luggage either hepco becker or BMW, higher windshield and your have one versatile sport touring machine!!!!!!!
BMWs have had variable seat heights for years, my 1995 R1100RT has 3 positions. The R1200R does NOT have variable seat heights, it has a number of seat options so you need to choose one (if your dealer has all 4 seats to try, my dealer doesn't). It is however a fantastic bike, I've done two tours to Germany and around 8,000 miles so far.
+Bob Terpstra Yes, and cars don't fall over when you stop and can't reach the floor! Having the right seat height on a bike is actually quite important!

Variable seat heights has been around for a while. My 94 R1100RS has it.
Hooray variable seat heights!!!......about bloody time! Its not rocket science!
Neil Cole Exactly! I'm 1.82m, my wife is 1.68m, we both ride and these different seat heights will come in handy.
Yep we are not all 6 foot 4!!

The R1200R is a motorcycle, not a car...
