counters for defensive players: Split dodge: a well timed poke check to knock the ball out works really well, watching their hips is how you dont end up on the highlight reel, because a good attackman will throw a headfake. Roll dodge: when a bad attackman rolls he might leave his stick hanging behind him for an easy take away check, also if youre strong enough to push them back so the roll isnt as effective that works too, the last thing is positioning, if youre in good position and take a good approach the roll can be rendered completely ineffective. face dodge: a can opener check can be effective once the stick is across their face, but mostly you just want to take a good approach angle and not lunge at the attackman. re dodge: they have to use a dodge in the re dodge, so knowing how to stop the dodge used in the redodge is how you counter it. Question mark: Stopping them before they get to 5 and 5, or the island. Ideally you want to turn them at GLE, but if they do get to 5 and 5, someone who has less expierience with this dodge will telegraph it, and sometimes leave their hands exposed for an easy lift check, also, pushing them hard enough once they initiate the dodge can throw them off.
@@matthewwalsh4257 Hi Matthew thank you for the feedback. I definitely want to do defense videos in the future. For now I'm focusing on offense since it's my area of expertise. Hopefully I'll get another team member on who can do defense
Was hoping you'd go more into the variants of the dodges, especially face dodge, which I'd argue that the first example highlight you used was more of a toe drag rather than a face. But I'd still call a toe drag a variant of a face dodge; personally I find as a goalie on the clear, a pull back for a fake pass up-field into a toe drag is extremely effective. But still a great video, subbed, excited to see more
Coming from football to lacrosse I find myself not dodging as much as I should be the only time I really dodge is when I know I can't beat them with strength
This is a good video but don’t feel like you have to try and use these do what makes sense use a face dodge if you need dont try to do a role dodge if you don’t need to
I’m VEEERY fast so I like a one head fake with a push off and a stick move then dash the other way and the defense is always 1 step behind me and if they catch up mid run stop for less that 1 second then go again because if done at the right time the defense is gone and no one can slide fast enough to get me giving me an open shot plus I’m short so they don’t expect it and can’t check me easily
Hey Wyatt! Thank you for your comment. I definitely agree sometimes the defense was poor. I will say, all of these guys are either D1 college lacrosse players or pro players, so they are the best of the best defenders in all of lacrosse.

You are an amazing RUclipsr. Thanks for everything
Great video! Haven’t watched a lacrosse video in a while... played in college and loved the 3 step spilt.
Thanks man! Super helpful
Could you make a vid on how to guard these as a d middie. thanks
This is probably the best video on dodging on RUclips atm! Thanks for the great information!
Thank you! Any other ideas for videos?
@@LaxWeekly Maybe your thoughts on how to improve lacrosse IQ, personally I struggle to know what to do as an attackman.
New sub, my boys and I will be looking forward to your newsletter! Thank you!

@@spencerrr2061 Let's go!!! Remember to just have fun and enjoy it.
Lax Weekly I will
SpenceRRR - what position
What about the “RBYG”dodge. ?
Or the “Shelly” Bull inside roll dodge ?
Agreed, these are such good dodges
these are also amazing for girls lax but you will need to watch shooting space on the last one
anything on the box dodge or sideline dodge?
I think my favorite dodge is the swim move
Hi jake I play lacrosse in Louisiana and want to be seen by division 1-3 colleges how can I do this
Love this vid
I love roll doges I’m a 5’10 195lbs 7th attack man
i use most of these mostly split and roll put sa hitch dodge in a video
My 13 year old complains of kids slashing him in practice, your suggestions on this issue? thank you.
there isnt a way to stop other people from slashing
Unfortunately there's no way to stop other kids from doing it, but he can try to wear more padding. Is there a specific place he keeps getting hit?
Lax Weekly shoulders
It’s not a slash unless it’s above the shoulders
@@sss1st Hmm. The only thing I'd say is wear better shoulder pads. Like AttackMan43 said, it's usually not a slash if they hit your shoulders
What about the bull dodge?
For some reason it’s not letting me subscribe to the newsletter
Hmm can you try again?
Dang this helped, thanks
Really great vid thanks!
Glad you liked it!

I think you’re confusing a fake shot with a face dodge.
no swim? lmao
I think this was patched
lol “Canadians use this move because they’re known for only using their dominant hand.” Yeah okay
These dodges aren't undefendable the defense is just trash in these videos. Looks like the fogo or offensive middies got stuck on D.
