- In today’s tutorial I’ll be demonstrating how you can take a design and superimpose it onto a blank t shirt using GIMP. I’ll also be demonstrating how to create the shirt in a variety of different colors.

The best channel for Gimp tutorials, Thanks Nick!
This is just what I needed. Thanks for a clear and concise video. I learned in 5 minutes with you what I've been trying to teach myself (unsuccessfully) in a whole lot more time. THANKS!
I simply love the tutorial! It's so easy to do the mock-up with GIMP - and I thought how I can never do it myself! It seemed half-way through that it's not working well for my design but only I had to finish the steps and everything looked perfect then.
Nick, I'm a not a professional graphic designer nor a graduate of digital arts nor an expert, but as a person who is fond of digital editing as a hobby, your videos are really helpful. I don't even consider my self an average person in terms of editing but you are really helping me!
Watching your videos is of the reasons why I'm still not upgrading to Adobe products. Gimp and Inkscape still! haha!
GUYS, THIS GUY NICK IS LEGIT! hope you got more opportunities on this field!
Cheers from The Philippines!
Thanks for your kind words, glad my videos have helped. If design is just a hobby or a casual interest then there's no need for the expensive Adobe software :)
yes that's why I sticked with Gimp and Inkscape up until now..
and..you've been helping me for more than 2years already! cheers nick!
Thanks Nick! This was by far the best quick tutorial using step by step easy to understand process.
Thank you Nick, just starting my own children's t-shirt business in the UK. Ive got a long way to go but this is a fantastic start, hopefully will learn loads
NICK!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VID!!! I just started using Gimp this week and im still trying to work out the kinks on this program and you basically simplified what i wanted to accomplish!!
:O I've been playing casually with GIMP for nigh 20 years, and that colored-layer-"mode"-"multiply" trick is something I've never seen before. I knew there were loads of menus I hadn't touched and capabilities I hadn't played with, but that one blows my mind and REALLY opens up options for me. I'm so glad I checked out this tutorial! Thank you for making this video! :)
Can't thank you enough for your wonderful design lessons! Thanks a lot Nick!
Because of your video, I was able to create my first-ever rug mockup after struggling for a few days. Though very basic, I am happy to get a start today. Thanks mate.
These tutorials are great! Thanks for the advice/tips/help.
Thank you for another great tutorial Nick! I've learned all I have from you!!
Just made my first design on a shirt and I cant thank you enough!! Amazing tutorial, and i highly recommend you use the images in the description to practice of you dont already have an image of your own. Good Luck everyone.
Excellent as always, and so useful! I'm not selling any tshirts, but the photoshopping tricks this can do are mind-blowing!
Nice vid Nick, very easy to understand! Thanks!
Thanks man!!! Was so hard to find someone teaching so well like you
I Love your Channel! Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia! You're Awesome!
This is so good and so easy! Thx for this awesome tutorial!
who would dare dislike this video? probably a fool who uses a cracked version of photoshop anyway. It's always good to see experts like Nick who show that basic and advanced techniques can be achieved when using strictly open-source design software. Even running a design agency on open-source software. Great video as usual Nick.
Nick, you are amazing. Thank you so much !
Awesome video! very easy and simple to follow. Going to use to make some mock ups for my T shirt business!
Great tutorial Nick! One recomendation for time for anyone who's changing the color of the t-shirt, use alpha to selection on the color layer after cutting out the logo from it then fill it with foreground color, therefore you don't need to keep cutting it out. Keep up the great work 👏👏.
And yet again I land on your tutorial searching for a solution to a problem, and here IT is! Thank you so much, and I hit subscribe already.
Great advice as always. Thank you Nick
You are a legend thank you for all your videos
Nick,
very useful and as always thank you for sharing.
West
Great tutorial, how simple just amazed, I added a layer mask onto the colour fill layer erased logo area so now the change of colour automatically fills around the logo :)
this video has just helped me so much thankyou

Say what!
So, I am looking for a tutorial on how to do exactly this on youtube and I find that you, awesome Nick, made this and uploaded it today?! Awesome!
But wait, You use the move and unified transform tool separately?
You can just use the unified transform tool to move
That's great already. Looking forward to having actual place holder like smart objects in gimp. Meanwhile keep up the good work 👍
Thanks, man! That was awesome! I could do that to try to make me my t-shirts!
Excellent, thank you!
As always Awesome.
It's very cool, thanks, Nick :)
Thank you for having clear audio. There are a lot of great tutorials out there with the worst voice-over audio ever. I really appreciate that you have a decent mic and speak at a reasonable volume. Lol, also, great information.

Excellent Nick Sahib.
Very nice.Thank you.

O melhor! Obrigado pelo video!
Thank-You for posting! The industry is so heavingly reliant on PSD files. It is almost impossible to find a decent mockup without Photoshop.
Thank you!
Im following you for a time now. I like your videos it help me alot in my study, im studing graphic design and we are useing also gimp :) .this is how i found you last month 😆. Cool videos bro. U also made me love gimb and inscape, we also use scribus!!! Can you make some videos working with scribus? Thanks! Greetings from Amsterdam ( The Netherlands ) ✌
Thank you life saver !!!
Thanks Bro❤
thank you!
A HUUUGE thank you!!
Hi Nick, thanks for sharing your wisdom.
I was playing around with this tutorial for tshirt mockups, I instead put the colored layer on top of the log and added a layer mask to it by selecting alpha channel of the logo and inverted the selection, then i added the layer mask as selection on the filled color layer.
this way i found that you can replace the color (or just duplicate it first) of the filled color layer without having to cut out the cut out the image every time you make a new layer.
whats your thought on that?
Awesome video as always, I was wondering how you get gimps interface fonts so big?
Great vid, really useful. Where can I get the mock ups for the back of the shirt, and female tshirts as well?
Nick great videos. I do have a question about the tutorial can you tell me when I created the color layer and then filled with foreground color it also filled color behind the shirt as well. Any thoughts on why that happened?
Love the channel Nick! I'm curious, what's the tool you use to show which buttons are being pressed? I had seen it in your Inkscape Explained: Editing Nodes, Paths & The Bezier Pen video. Thanks :)
thank you!! May I ask you something? what if we want to change is the pattern of shirts? Like jersey football kit mockup?
Aye bruh I love you
Hey nick, great content as always! One question, can you make your own mockup template using gimp, just like how people made using photoshop? Great vid btw! Keep it up
Hi Nick...Thankyou for these awersome tutorials..do you have a mockup for hoodies?
never realize gimp has cool features like this
Hey man thanks for the vid. I do have a question though, when i export it- it creates a blue background can you guide me how to export with transparency
hi Nick, when i tryed to insert the logo show it on black and white,i tryed many and the same, fine i found the same in inkscape, but i wanna start learning gimp as well
Gawd damn that's not a bad shirt design at all :o
Great video. Sometimes my logo fades after I transform it. Can someone help to understand what I can do to retain the vibrant color?
hello Nick i like your videos. please can i have a simple explanation of all the tools in gimp
thanks
Lastnight was the 1st time I watched your channel, thanks for sharing your knoledge. I was unable to dowload the tshirt and after paying for designs I was unable to download the program that opens some of the file, can you please help me
Nice. Do more of both inkscape and gimp
I agree because it's the open-source one-two punch, just like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop...except Inkscape and Gimp is much faster, more optimized, and available everywhere. I'm on Linux so everything is made using open-source tech.
Thanks.
saved. my. life.
Is there an updated "how to make Inkscape dark"? I tried the method in the description of your older videos and I cant get it to work.
Is there a way to do this without losing the coloring of the design? On some of mine I lose the white parts of the design when I darken if I am putting it on a colored or gray shirt.
