지난 4월,미니앨범 ‘Honestly’로 상반기를 뜨겁게 달구었던 에릭남이 가을에 어울리는 신곡으로 돌아온다.
신곡 ‘Miss You’는 이별한 남자의 복잡한 심경을 담은 곡이다.헤어진 연인을 잊으려 노력하지만 자신도 모르게 새어 나오는 그리운 마음이 교차되며 이별 후의 감정을 역설적으로 표현했다.
타이틀은 ‘Miss You’지만, 에릭남은 노래하는 내내 담담하지만 쓸쓸하게 ‘No, I don’t miss you’라고되뇌인다.이 서로 상반된 메시지에서 누구에게나 찾아오는 이별 후 후유증,옛 연인에 대한 어쩔 수 없는 그리움을 엿볼 수 있다.
에릭남은 이번 ‘Miss You’에서도 직접 작사와 작곡에 참여해 자신의 감성을 고스란히 녹여내었다. 기존 에릭남을 수식하는 로맨틱하고 부드러운 이미지와는 다른 분위기의 가사를 통해 한층 더 성숙한 모습으로 대중들에게 새로운 매력을 선보인다.
동시에, 세계적인 아티스트 Justin Bieber, Martin Garrix의 곡 프로듀싱에 함께해온 Steve James와 DuaLipa와 함께 작업한 Whiskey Water 등 유수의 해외 프로듀서 및 작가진들이 곡 작업에 함께해 완성도를 더욱 높였다.
‘보고 싶지 않다’는 말은 결국 ‘너를 지워내기 위해 혼자 하는 거짓말’이라고 나직하게 고백하는 에릭남의 담담하고 감미로운 음색, 그리고여기에 더해진 쓸쓸한 기타 사운드는 가을 바람처럼 유독 시리게 다가온다. 올 가을 리스너들의 마음에 가장 아련한 여운을 남길‘Miss You’를 함께 감상해보자
