Great video. I am about to install my Roll R cover as well. You mentioned that the drainage only goes through the drop-in liner? The instruction manual seems to indicate that a hole is drilled through the sheet metal. I personally would prefer not to drill through any metal.
I think my one was installed without drilling through the metal, they only drilled through the plastic liner, and installed a rubber pipe, so water can get under the liner and get out
@7HA-88 get real if you do not want to drill holes for the water escape pipes you either put a bucket in the bed and run the pipes into the bucket.Or you do not get a bed roller at all.
Awesome roller lid I had mine installed last month and have it set up through my phone so Siri opens it up don’t even need to press a button or find keys ? Are you getting the armour bar installed too
G'day i just received my Raptor in the Conquer Grey, looking at different shutters. How are you finding the waterproofing ? Ive been getting told they are not the best + the '' drain '' holes clog up. What other brands did you look at prior to going HSP appreciate your response thanks.
All shutter lids are not great in terms of water proofing and durability, compared to the hard lids. I had a hard lid on my previous gen Raptor, and they are great and robust. The upside to the roller shutter is that it's electric and easy to open and close, the hard lid can be a bit heavy for ladies.
@@rhysdavies4048 never heard of that brand sorry. Again as I mentioned, all shutter lids have more moving parts and require more maintenance and greater chance to leak
Interesting. Your Raptor was delivered about the same time as mine, but I don't have the ruler on the tailgate. Not that I would ever use it. I really don't like the drop in tray liner. Would have preferred the spray in one like the AU Raptors. That would resolve the issue with the seal for the tailgate, which does suck in a bit of dust on dirt roads. As soon as you find a third party seal that looks good, let us know. I also installed a HSP tailgate assist. Little gas strut that helps lower the tailgate. Works well. I went with the Utemaster hard lid as I want to strap stuff to the top, rather than having a roof top tent, but totally understand that you can't open the tailgate without opening the lid. I am guessing it adds to the security of the tub?
Yes, the lid is basically just for security and weather protection. This roller lid is really good, easier to open and shut for the ladies as well. But in terms of strength and waterproofing, a hard lid is still way better.
You can remove the "flap" that covers the tailgate. It's only there for security for tailgates without a central locking feature. That way, you can open the tailgate without having to open the hard lid. Utemaster's website also says that part is removable if you don't want it.
I had a roller cover (not electric) on a Ram 1500 when I lived in Ottawa Canada. The cover would freeze to the track in winter. It also took up quite a bit more of the bed than this one seems to.
Can’t wait till we get the ranger raptor in the usa I’ll be ordering a cover just like that
Yes, this is a very good lid I have to say, very easy to use and convenient.
Any solution yet to seal the raptor?

@@phrankeeecars You think are you serious and what do you think will happen to the metal under the lining after a few years?
Fit an EGR dust defence kit this with a little adjusting will seal most of the gaps on the tail gate
Ok thanks for the tip, you have a Raptor also?

I am getting the cross bars installed for my rooftop tent 😄
You have a Raptor also?
How much did you pay including installation?

@@phrankeeecars Thanks for your reply, did you look at '' Trail Max'' i cant decide what one. apparently Trail max is 100% Water proof.

They might clog up if you are too lazy to unblock them!

grunt 4x4 sell a dust seal kit for the tailgate

Yeah I got a black Raptor took delivery on 24th September just waiting on the armour bar to arrive
Nice, congrats, have fun with your beast
Hey how do you mount a ten onto of that? The mounting points are covered by the roller shutter?
The lid has tracks on either side where you could fit Cross bars on, and the rooftop tent just sits on top of the crossbars. You own a Raptor also?
@@phrankeeecars Coming in March!
@@dannyrexknight nice! Congrats! I am sure you will have lots of fun with it 😄
I wonder if the LED can be turned on without opening the roller shutter
I don't think so, why would you want that? 😄
@@phrankeeecars in case you just opened the bed door to pick up something quick.
That LED light will be very helpful.
@@Mr.PhotoASZ oh I see. I think you can do it from the phone app
I would be interested in seeing how this thing operates when it’s covered in snow
That is a good point, probably won't work in extreme snowy conditions. Lucky the weather is mild in NZ 😆

Thanks, it's called the conquer grey. You think it suits the Raptor?
@@phrankeeecars personal I think this colour is COOL, looks like future, 👍
