Just booked in my raptor for the Herrod performance package and just purchased the Turbosmart BOV. I'm really considering the fabulous fab twin air box.

I've worked on my own cars occasionally but am definitely not a mechanic by and means, and mean no offence when I ask this question.
If the two turbos are competing for air through the one paper filter, how does this help when the airflow entry duct has not been enlarged compared to the stock one. Surely they are still competing for the same volume of air inflow? Even if the filters are less restrictive then wouldn't just another filter like k&n do the same job but without looking as good?
So quick question. If you have the ability to create more air flow does that mean A. The engine will take in that extra air and do something with it? Or B. Does it not make a difference unless the ecu has a Re map to want and need the extra air input. Because it’s not like a ram air. The engine only needs what the ecu tells it.
Also those air filters look light on. You would get a massive increase in air flow by thinning down the paper style filters. But the idea is it deals like a fridge the dirt & dust. I think looks sick but the engineering of air flow itself is questionable. I’m a mechanic so not trying to offend anyone just to provide something to think about
Watch the video Fab Fabrications put out on this. They test and explained everything but also showed their results.
Should add an iDrive throttle controller too and get another 15HP simply by remapping the TPS and no tuning required. 🤣🤣.

One does not simply need a snorkel until one really needs a snorkel. I was laughed at for having a snorkel on my Raptor in the city........Until the city was flooded and everyone needed my help as I had a snorkel haha
As if a snorkel is made for deep water. 🤦🏼♂️

I read today that Herrod now have a power upgrade with a extra 200nm and 60kw, it seems to be a good increase in power, is that something you would get done to your raptor?
Yeah I’ve been waiting for that to come out. I think it would be something I’d consider, love to do a video of the system installed on mine.

Idk for the ranger raptor but with the air intake replacement, no power increase is noticed for the F150 Raptor. People only do it for the turbo sounds or unless you are heavily modifying and tuning.

Does the smart blow off valve affect the anti-lag system?
I don’t believe so. Thing has so much power and she spools up quick.

Ford is approved and worked with herrod to unlock and tune an extra 60kw with warranty. All this other stuff won't be covered by warranty😊

Now that the air is going straight in and not down for water to settle. Dont u think that water would rush in there at high speed in the rain?
No it’s needs to get past grill then it goes slightly up then down, water will collect on the sides of air box in heavy rain and go straight out the bottom tap

Just wash them out, let them dry completely then put back in.

I fitted the turbosmart vented bov and mine makes no psssh noise while revving in idle and the standard bov is louder when driving, all it done was at a lot of lag down low, did you have any if these issues?

Depends if your doing a light touring setup and not carrying heaps of gear.

You’d need to ask Ford that question.
Having worked in manufacturing for decades... they could have designed the box to fold (be formed) in many areas rather than be welded. Time and labor would be reduced dramatically. Strength and risk of breakage reduced significantly. Only mentioned it because of a small slight chance the manufacturer might read this.

Wish to have it but Ford confirmed the warranty will be voided. Swapping original one before you go to service centre could be another idea.
The problem is, Ford didn't confirm anything. Some bloke in the Ford service department at your local dealer probably "confirmed" warranty would be void. ACCC has rules on what companies can do with warranties, I'm sure they'd be a requirement to prove the airbox contributed to the failure for Ford to reject warranty.

I’m not sure mate, I can’t see why but. The filters and air box are way better then factory at keeping dust out. The blow off valve it a 2 second part to swap over if your concerned at service time.

Might sound good with a blow valve but your decreasing performance!

gains imaginary power through noisy airbox only to lose real power through BOV. But sounds sik.. Important. Without a dyno and tune, theres little evidence of any measurable increase in power, only feels.

Did you even tune it after airfilter or you just running it lean.
Doesn’t need a tune for just the air box. It will be getting a bigger intercooler and tune soon.
@@TyFenwick yes it does your changing the size of the air filters anything pre turbo needs to be tuned the scale on the ecu maps for air to fuel ratio changes. More air is drawn the car will be lean.
How’s factory warranty affect?
Guess Il find out. This filter system is 10 fold better in protecting the engine then standard. If anything I’ve helped warranty

Nothing can void Warranty unless the manufacturer can prove the modification caused the problem to void warranty. Australian legislation protects consumers beyond a “warranty” anyway. But your choice at the end of the day.

Something you’d need to ask Ford dealership. However Ford would need to prove that the air box was the cause of any failure on the vehicle.
