Thank you for doing these, I have enjoyed them so much! Thank you also for indeed being the silent traveler. I really enjoy when the every day sounds of the people and the train shine through. The videos where they babble throughout are so off-putting. Cheers! Thanks!
Thank you for this! I am planning a big trip next March, Paris -> Switzerland -> London. Once in Switzerland, I plan on renting a car or van to drive all around!
Thanks for the beautiful video , clips at the beginning portrait typical paris evenings although its early morning. I had to travel Nurembserg , Zurich and paris strats april 4th but covid19 screwed up everything . Train is awesome
Having just watched a Rome to Venice video, this seemed to be a nicer train with better seating and a much smoother ride. I'm surprised that they don't offer a drink and snack to first class.
What do you need to know ? You're not limited on luggage volume. There are big racks in everycar, at the entrance. If it's a double decker there will be racks in the middle of the carriage tto and even some room in the back.
taking a train between the cities of Europe is much better than flying in my opinion: on the train you get to see the scenic views while on the plane you see nothing but clouds
And no need to arrive 1 or 2 hours before, and to wait for your luggage during 1/2 hour when arrived at destination... And with the train you arrive directly in the center and the highlights of all these beautiful european cities.
If you want a *really* comfortable TGV, we have the double decker TGV, or the Corail (which is a little oldie but again _goodie_ ). 😅 Or you can take the Thalys, you won't regret it, trust me 😉
@@sullybully but they have so many similarities I suppose. Thier only difference might be thier ages. They all are comfortable. But thanks for that precision all the same
Thank you for the video! I'm planning to make the same train travel in June. How easy is it to find the train location in Gare de Lyon in Paris? Is there a map I can use in advance? Or front desk I can go and ask for directions?
Ill stick to my slower American trains. Only time this thing went slow enough to take in the sights was thru the damn train yard. Watched so much french countryside just whiz by there. The fun joy of long distance train ride is that it takes a bit longer and gives a view you would miss otherwise.
Am travelling soon in TGV Lyria Premeiere classe from Paris to Geneve, and i have a question: On the SNCF Connect web site, how do you select your seats in the direction of travel of the train? Are we able to know it in advance or not? Thanks
You were supposed to do it when you bought the ticket. Maybe at the desk, in the train station, you can change that, i don't know. The app will not let you i think.
I am very confused. It says TGV Lyria but the train is TGV InOui? And I thought the TGV InOui were supposed to be newly refurbished but that didn't seem to be the case from the video? Sorry I am from the UK so I am not very familiar with this apart from Eurostar.
Совершенно очевидно, что в рамках топливного потребления всего мира, электрическая мощность обходится в меньшее количество топлива чем механическая мощность, поэтому в итоге, электропоезда более экономичны чем дизельные поезда.
How tall are you? So I better understand the leg room of these classes. I'm 6'5' / 196cm and from where your knees are, I will better gage the leg room.
Lovely rainy view from the window .Is Bourge en Bresse situated in the border of France?Have some idea about Tgv highspeed train .Thanks for recalling my memory.
Some railways stations in Switzerland (at least Basel and Geneva), or Basel Airport, are near the borders. They have a French sector, with French trains (or planes). Because Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, the controls are minimal, but you still need your passport or ID card on you and you need to declare goods. In Basel, there is even a German train station (Badischer Bahnhof) which, completely in Basel and thus in Switzerland, is considered German territory. If you go from Basel SBB to Badischer Bahnof with the local train (S-Bahn), and then out of Badischer Bahnhof, you crossed the Swiss-German border twice :) If you take the tramway, you don't. But it's really difficult to notice the difference (except for some clear information on the train and on the platform -- that you might miss!). See the Badischer Bahnof here: ruclips.net/video/JgUDX0xdpo4/видео.html and the CH/D border in the station: ruclips.net/video/JgUDX0xdpo4/видео.html&t=179s

Sometimes Lyria uses inoui TGV or other in periods of heavy traffic or to replace its Lyria TGV under maintenance.

It's an Inoui TGV, a brand normaly used on french lines (no Lyria livery on this train).
