    Well, I finally did it! Took me more than 940 hours, but I got there eventually! I had quite a bit of luck with gain strength potions (got it up to 23) and rings (slow digestion + stealth + add 2 strength), plus had a nice two handed sword. I didn't have many wands and staves, but I guess I used them at the right time.

      I failed by missclick on griffin fight on 20. 20 str, 2H sword and plate armor helped a lot moving trolls. Tbh armor and weapon isn't crucial to survive if you hadn't many upgrade scrolls since armor doesn't midigate damage, your HP (so level) matter much more. Seems like farming griffins should be the right strat, they are quite managable. RNG here is insane, in the first 10 lvls you get either a lot of scrolls, wands, armor separately, worst case you get almost nothing. I'm better going back to Nethack)

    Now that the game is released on Steam, I have a sad reminder of the time wasted trying to beat it. Currently it's 200+ hours I've accumulated over the last two weeks or so. This version seems to me significantly harder than the other one(s). First, instead of harmless snakes there are those irritating slimes that divide and are really dangerous on lower experience levels. Then, the ice monsters shoot ice bolts, which has ruined my game numerous times, especially in the treasure rooms. Finally, medusas are nearly impossible to kill since apparently nothing works on them if they confuse you, except the wand/staff of drain life. I'm almost certain that in the other version being confused by medusa didn't impair your ability to zap wands and throw potions etc. Now each time I meet this dreaded creature it's almost certainly game over.

      One advantage the player has in this version compared to the previous one is that throwing a potion of blindness, confusion, or paralysis at a monster will always hit the monster and render the desired effects (in the old version this wasn't a given). Another is that monsters in this version will never follow you into a maze, allowing you to recover HP, venture out, hit them, and venture back in to recover. But yeah, I've found this version is generally harder (griffins fly and move two spaces at a time! )

    Which is harder, This game or Adom?

      Adom is harder, mainly because it is longer, it takes more moves to win, and so you're more likely to die
