    Coming back several years later to say this is still one of my favourite eurovision entries of all time. I remember thinking "the UK really had a chance this year!" And then being personally offended by how badly it did. We was robbed! This song is amazing and remains on my playlist forever

      +mrTROLLERchannel Exactly this. The performance was a disaster from start to finish. They even broke basic rules like, if you have any instrument in your song that's highly noticeable (the violin in this case) you should have it one stage with you.

      I've seen people say how Britain produces a lot of musical talent but a lot of entries in Eurovision aren't the best. I think people need to remember that up until 2009 the UK hardly took the contest seriously. Plus when a song enters Eurovision the rights and profits the song makes after entering goes to the Eurovision organization.

      SilverSpark Rants I see what you mean but there have been some decent songs/singers ruined by something.
      2000: Decent song imo
      2001: Decent song ruined by outfits
      2002: Fantastic
      2003: Average song ruined by the performance
      2004: I liked it
      2005: Exactly the same style as Greece's imo perhaps Greeces was better. Javine is a good singer.
      2006: Rap isn't the style for Eurovision.
      2007: The year when it was obvious we were taking the piss.
      2008: Should have been top 15, ruined by having to perform 2nd.
      2009: Fantastic
      2010: Good singer, terrible song.
      2011: Juries screwed it up.
      2012: Beautiful song, had to perform first though.
      2013: Average ballad imo, but performed by a great singer (but of the past).
      2014: Should have been left side of board, ruined by performing last (where most people had already decided their favourites).

      Lietuva is a clear winner for me!
      However, 'learning Lithuanian' might mean I have some bias on top of an already great song.

    this is addictive. it could turn out as a surprise in the final and get a great result. depends on the live performance and running order

    • @PhysalisFranchetti
      @PhysalisFranchetti 9 лет назад

      Running order, of course, being decided by the organisers, which is presumably determined by how well they think a song is going to do. Live performance?

    • @Alex4u
      @Alex4u 9 лет назад

      PhysalisFranchetti It depends. first there is a draw about which part of the show each entry will be performed (first half/second half) and then the organisers will decide about the running order. I remember a few years ago the show was getting boring because there were many ballads in the first half or vice versa so the organisers will make sure that each song will shine and not be overshadowed by others.

    • @PhysalisFranchetti
      @PhysalisFranchetti 9 лет назад

      Alex4u
      Running order: Generally, 2nd half is better than the first half. 1st half after the first few slots (which are really bad) it doesn't much matter where you go in the running order. 2nd half gives a big advantage for anyone going around slot 19, and there is a big disadvantage for anyone going in the last few slots of the night. I am ashamed to say we plotted this, initially fitting a straight line, and later using curves :-( I still think that the organisers put the favoured songs around about slot 19, if they are drawn in the second half.
      The performance is more of a question to me. I had a look at his performances in the Rolling Clones, which I think he has been doing for quite a few years, so I don't think he''ll get stage fright, so competent. She is a really lovely singer, but there aren't many clips on YT of her.

    • @Alex4u
      @Alex4u 9 лет назад

      PhysalisFranchetti i ve seen many experienced artists losing it on Eurovision stage because it's the feeling of representing a whole nation and having a huge audience watching you so we'll see. The Netherlands performed in the 24th spot and they came 2nd. So, i think you can't really tell...

      MmeKastaffiore As opposed to previous years where they've sent a song that they really believe sounds professional and sophisticated enough to win, leading to us all to be disappointed, they've opted for a song which we can enjoy listening to, and know with confidence that we probably won't win.

      It pisses me off that all the other countries they tour and tour their countries songs around Europe, and they end up in those countries charts, so thats perhaps a huge reason for the perceived "bloc voting", which is something i don't think really exists.
      When Ewen sang with Andrew L. Webber, we did fantastically! Because we treated it seriously. NEXT YEAR! Josh Bouvey... A joke... We came last...
      This always happens. But i quite like this song.

    I am from the UK and have been watching ESC for many, many years - more in fact, than the average age of most 'fans'. The derogatory comments this song has received from many UK fans has been disgusting. Granted. we are all entitled to our opinion but sadly, most of these people would doubtless provide rude, nasty and negative comments regardless of the song/singer that was representing us, because every year the UK song seems to attract the pathetic vitriol of the 'haters'. I find it so tiresome that many people do not appear to understand that music is totally subjective and that you cannot please all of the people all of the time. There are many songs that chart at #1 both here and in the US that I personally wouldn't give air time to, but I don't tear them, or the singers to pieces. There are also a number of songs in this year's contest that I personally do not like but I am not going to drone on about them as others will like them. The UK song is a happy, catchy song, sung by a couple who genuinely look like they are enjoying themselves - which always goes down well at ESC. If it was sung by the likes of Olly Murs it would be top 5 in the charts without question. I sincerely hope we do mange the left hand side of the scoreboard this year but if we don't, so be it. Also, if we come last, so be it - it is expected nowadays anyway!! I am quite sure EV will give it everything they have and do their best, which at the end of the day, is all we can ask.

      It's a brick wall, and a different time. The social rules have changed; it is acceptable just to have an opinion now and post it (actually I think it is required), without worrying whether or not it is worthwhile saying it, or whether or not you offend anyone while doing so.

      Livevil9912 Personally I appreciated the poster's comments - perhaps you should get over yourself. His comments are positive and supportive and you should at least respect that. I don't care if you like the song or not and as for it being okay for people to post whatever they like well I am all for free speech, but people use the free speech to say just any old crap without adding anything to the argument - debate all you want but to just dismiss something is not debating an issue and just makes people look like fools and intolerant idiots...

    Well, this type of music has recently become very popular within Europe.
    And being honest, people from the UK don't really care about Eurovision, we find it fun to watch and do, we don't really take it seriously.

      Sacred Wolf Interestingly enough a quick google search of the genre and its popularity in Europe does indeed confirm it is popular right now. Perhaps BBC are onto something here. Very interesting. I'm still not sure about this particular song, After viewing some other songs in the same genre, I'm not sure if this is the best reflection of the genre but knowing what I know now it could get a bit higher than I intially thought. But the jury's still out on this one for me. It might grow on me we'll have to wait and see.

      Sacred Wolf The only problem is that Eurovision is the one place where having a song that grows on you is a bad thing. Most people will hear the song for the first time on the night and unlike those who qualify from the semi finals.... it will be the only time they will perform it before the voting. It needs instant appeal to become a winner.

      I honestly love this song to death, but funny thing is I am in America, and no, I would never dream of being from America. I love this song because it brings back the originality and class of the 1900's that I, in person, enjoy. Instead of God awful "twerking", you have a good "jazzy" song that has a great idea, without the awful atrocities of modern day skimpyness and perversiveness (if that is a word). I am also not fond of alot of American hip-hop, so I hope no one hates me for even putting in my useless opinion. But in a whole, this song puts me in a great mood, and I think because of the little details to 1900's "fashion dancing" with the jazz hands and finger wiggle (correct me if for improper terminology) that really makes me smile when I hear it! Thanks!

    Well, I'm from the UK and I'm actually quite happy that these guys will be representing us. Eurovision 2015 was starting to become a snoozefest with so many ballads and generic crap but FINALLY we start the party with a bit of upbeat fun!

      We've always been upbeat with our entries, everyone's just trying to be the new Conchita this year.
      The main difference with our entry this year is it's not a steaming pile of obnoxous crap like the last decade's worth of entries and is something with actual thought and heart put into it

      Vivian Sutton
      Though Conchita's /Austria's entry for 2014 was good, it was not totally original. Very Bondesque influence for sure!! British influence you could say, also!
      Germany had an entry (that won) Lena, she was definitely influenced by either LIly Allen or Sophie Ellis Bextor. You see!!!!, British music has a strong influence across Europe. ;)

    I can't understand why everyone is being so negative about this. I think it's brilliant, it's fun, it's upbeat, it's catchy, it's stylish, i don't see much wrong with it. Maybe instead of the same generic ballad we bring in every year, we needed something different, something to stand out and have fun with. I personally love the way it mixes vintage and modern styles, and it's something that people can enjoy, not use as a break to go to the loo or get some coffee. We won't win, don't get me wrong, but this might be one of the few times we can leave with some dignity!

    So here’s the thing…this song is addictive! After listening to it on repeat I’m still in love with it! Yes, it’s fun, catchy, charming, different and it stands out from the rest. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but at least it’s sweet, refreshing, memorable and entertaining. That’s what Eurovision is all about…not really about winning. People need to chill out, have some fun and dance for heaven’s sake! I think it’s this year’s version of Conchita’s beard in terms of uniqueness. I hope Electro Velvet will do well during tonight’s live performance. Best of luck from The Netherlands! All my votes for UK! Btw I’ll tell my friends to vote for you guys too ;D

      I believe that F.U.N is an awful attempt at indie rock/pop yet it still falls into the genre.
      The genre is very wide and dispersed, some are heavier and some are lighter in their influences in Swing or Electro, this in my opinion is a good mix of both but what brings it down is the lyrics.

      Thanks. :) I hope people for this song, all we want in the UK is to make it on to the left hand of the leaderboard lol.

      Yes, I cross my fingers too for the UK! But one important big thing is the boot sequence! Pleace don´t start as 1st or as last entry like you do often, dear UK! Just perform this song after some boring ballades in the middle of the contest and you will have good scores in the end! ;)
      Happy to welcome you all in Vienna, Austria!!!! :)

    This is pure genious. Seriously. The UK might even win with this. I don't get why you aren't supporting your song.

    What's up guys? Did you make up your minds after only one listening? I think you will regret making negative comments when the UK gets a fairly high placement in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. This song will get its well deserved recognition after some time. Many people actually enjoy this. The style is called electro-swing and it seems to get a larger fanbase every day. Just because it isn't mainstream pop music doesn't mean it can't be good. It just sounds unfamiliar to begin with. Now, try to listen to it just one more time. And rememeber to smile and have fun! :)

    Didnt think petty disagreements between countries could over power peoples recognition of true talent... Times have changed, Eurovision is not as it used to be, well i can honestly say "ELECTRO VELVET" were the best performers of 2015. Keep creating such wonderful tracks!
