    Lyrics:
Would you have me make the choice?
    Do I join the revolution?
Will I be just another voice?
    In the chorus of confusion
Well I don't know any more
'Cause I fought them once before
Yes I fought them in the Spanish Civil War
    Ohhhhh ohhh ohhhh ohhh ohhhh
Throw the fuel upon the fire
Paint the fact and not the fiction
    Compose an anthem to inspire
    Reflect the human crucifixion
Well I tried it, won't ya know
As a soldier in the snow
In a dreary Russian winter long ago
    Ohhhhh ohhh ohhhh ohhh ohhhh
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
    Hey, where's the revolution?
Oh oh oh oh ohhh, 'cause I don't know
    Oh no, I don't know
So I leave it in your hands
    To fulfill the obligation
Can the measure of a man
Be the fruit of his creation?
    Though our talk was incomplete
    And our meanings didn't meet
I'll be with you when you're fighting in the street
    Ohhhhh ohhh ohhhh ohhh ohhhh
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
Oh oh oh oh ohhh, 'cause I don't know

Eee hee, hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know
    Hey, where's the revolution?
    Oh 'cause I don't know

How have I never heard this song before? This is great! Billy has so many good songs that he should’ve released.

I had no idea this was even unreleased when I first heard it. It sounded so well written and composed and so.... Billy Joel. It sounded as if it were a completed and released track

Another song by Billy Joel that references the Spanish Civil War, like Miami 2017. Living his desire to take pop/rock songs to a higher level.

Sounds like two great songs in one. The verse and the chorus each sound like they could be their own amazing song but imo don't mesh well together. Wouldn't be surprised of they went on to become Great Ships and Great Oceans, and You Can Make Me Free

    This sounds like Turnstiles vibe.

I think this is the demo for Miami 2017

The reference to the Spanish civil war reappears here, but I don't really hear lots of connection to Miami 2017.

      It’s not. He didn’t come
Up with that until Gerald Ford rejected NYC’s request to be bailed out in the mid-70’s

Remove the lyrics for the chorus "Where's the revolution?" but keep the piano, and it's a hit. Even today, some 50 years later, the lyrics of the verses are relevant (and the melody is insanely beautiful-like scores of Billy's songs-what a talent). Maybe a young artist can pay him for it. The chorus is a valid attempt but it just hurts the song (but keep the piano like Captain Jack). In this case, less is more. Just my humble opinion:)

I think we are forgetting the context of 1971. Vietnam war was quite active, playing on the living room TV every evening. War and revolution was very much on everyone's mind.

I agree with all that you say here.
