Maaaaaaan this guy just keeps raising the bar. Between the choice of athletes feautured, the Intel, themes, video footage, narration, soundbites, and overall presentation, ESPN has been obsolete to me since 2018. And now he's added individual epic fight breakdown to his repertoire. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, does it like Joe Vincent. Nobody. It is stuff of legend.
I agree...The fact that ESPN hasnt reached out to this guy tells me that theyre just sleeping
Second that
Legend indeed. Smokes the mainstream like a 4th of July BBQ...
Man they can't keep sleeping just as long as they don't start hatin'. I'm STILL watching old videos. Definitely smoking like bbq man. And if he aint done a Smokin' Joe masterpiece already, it's gonna blaze for sure🤯
Joseph is the fkn man brother!!!!
The 30 rounds these 2 warriors produced over a 13 month rivalry were on another level. Greatest trilogy of all time!
And no belts on the line, it was just epic boxing between two hard as F duds
Absolutely. The greatest trilogy ever. Just pure boxing action. 2 ultimate warriors doing battle. Its poetic and magnificent
I still have this trilogy on vhs straight up classic RIP Arturo Gatti
He said vhs🤯
@@gi7685 You mean the way he fought? Yes, dangerous, but he didn't die because of it. I recommend reading up on his death as I had just now
Me2
@@gi7685 sadly it looks like he got killed by his wife
@ Gi
For who? His children. The ones he brought in the world. Might want to hang around so they don’t have to go through dad killing himself.
'Irish' Mickey Ward’s signature punch was an extremely effective left hook to the liver, a weapon that earned him more than a few clean knockouts. Few boxers have relied so much on that single, debilitating weapon. Today Mikey does suffer symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy because his ability to absorb punches were extraordinary.
He troubles from CTE? Do you know where I can find any videos on this? Any recent videos of him speaking?
@@team3gaming749 Ward works for the Concussion Legacy Foundation, an organization that strives to create smarter sports and safer athletes. Ward has agreed to donate his brain and spinal column to the CTE Center at Boston University after his death. He is also currently part of a long-term study at the center looking into behavioral and cognitive issues around CTE
I'm so sad to hear that.
@@team3gaming749 He said so on Mike Tysons podcast, IIRC.
@@seniordavidmanderson9232 Ward seems like the kind of guy to do that. Good for him.
"I used to wonder what it would be like to fight my twin, now I know." ~ Arturo "Thunder" Gatti. That quote has stuck with me for as long as I've been watching the sport and in my mind, no trilogy has ever come close to this one in terms of the spirit, violence, and determination put on display by Ward and Gatti. Mega thanks for giving this your iconic touch, Joe. It was a superb watch.
I don't know man Ali Frazier trilogy was pretty brutal
@@charliebates9098 Brutal, yes! Beyond question Ali/Frazier was what boxing fans would have scripted as a fantasy heavy weight match-up. They tested each other past the breaking point. But there seems to be something missing from their trilogy. Maybe because Arturo and Micky became friends because of their fights? I don't know but there is some emotional content in Gatti/Ward that is absent from Ali/Frazier. That is not to suggest that Ali/Frazier was less epic than people say. It totally was epic!
@@InformationIsTheEdge yeah Ali and Frazier didn't get along at all afterwards! Lol ... Frazier helped Ali over and over to get back in the ring and Ali did kind of screw him .. Promoting the fight or not it was just not worth it for all the guy had done for him! There's other ways of promoting fights!
@@charliebates9098 That is certainly right! Would it have been a better or worse fight if Ali was as gracious and courteous rather than what he did? Who knows? We got what we got and it was still pretty special.
Barrera v morales was up there as well
Gatti VS Ward, Ali VS Frazier and Morales VS Barrera are my favorite trilogies. In 1972 my father took me to the Sahara Tahoe Casino in South Lake Tahoe to watch Ali and Foster fight at ringside and I was hooked! Born and raised in Tahoe and my father being a bartender his hole life came with a lot of perks back in the day so I got to watch a lot of boxing matches free. The good old days!!
Pacman vs running man
Go on RUclips and watch the Tony Zale v,s. Rocky Graziano 3 fights for the middleweight title.
Wow. I'm enlightened
marquez vs vasquez is another epic series of fights
Being an Irishman from Massachusetts, Micky Ward is a legend.
R.I.P to the legend Mr. Gatti.
Being an Irishman from Brooklyn, I'm happy to report Micky is just as much of a legend here! 😂
Gotta love a guy with heart. Ward and Gatti were both game as hell, ya love to see it!
I just hope that Mr. Excitement(Gatti) knew before he left this world what this trilogy meant to the entire fight game a a whole , I know Mickey did.
An amazing trilogy but their first fight was one of the greatest fights you are ever likely to see.
Gatti the tactician vs Ward the brawler.
RIP Aturo Gatti and thank you for such an amazing fight.
I was at that fight by sheer coincidence. My buddy was on the undercard that night and we ended up getting more than we bargained for.
People started pouring in from the Casino by the time the 5th round started because word had spread that there was a war taking place. The whole fight, everyone was stunned that there was NOT a knockout. There were at least 4 occasions where it looked like one of them was gonna get finished and every time, they rallied back. It was bonkers.
@@RustCole01 that must have been amazing. Thanks for sharing, that’s a great story. I’m sure everyone thought Gatti would win but you’re right, it was a war.
@@RustCole01 your buddy win
@@Luke-pb4pc Yup. He actually went on to be on that show "The Contender" in like 2006 I think.
"This isn't money and a Grammy and an Academy Award This a brutal lyrical verbal version of Gatti and Ward"-R.A. the Rugged Man

Another fantastic video which could only be made by Joseph “The G.O.A.T.” Vincent!! Speaking as someone who was born on October 1996, but didn’t start watching boxing until the mid-2010’s…I could only imagine what all 3 of Arturo Gatti’s fights against Micky Ward looked like. I’ve always wished that I became a boxing fan before this legendary ternary of matches came along, no doubt about it.
Their rivalry being based on respect rather than spite was also special to see. It's not common and shows fighters can be pushed to their best without wanting to kill the other fighter.
Sportsmanship at its finest. R.I.P Thunder.
And that's just it. They didnt want to kill each other, but they still wanted to fight their hardest and do as much damage to each other as possible. It really is the ultimate respect for them to give each other everything they have as a fighter like their life was on the line. Two pure warriors
This is honestly one of the best channels on RUclips. I'm an MMA fan that didn't know nearly as much about boxing before I found this channel. Most of what I know about it came from here.
That's what happened to me. Watched Boxing in mid 2000s then became a UFC fan and never looked back until Tyson Fury brought me back. This channel has really educated me on the Sweet science. Thanks Joey V
I remember watching this fight on tv live and knowing that I had just watched one of the greatest boxing matches ever. Rest easy Arturo Gatti and hats off to you Mickey Ward for having so much heart in the ring.
Me too. Still remember the house I was at when I witnessed the greatest boxing war ever.
30 of the greatest rounds of boxing you will ever see! I know the story and remember it like it happened last week and it still left me in tears. Phenomenal job Jo V.
Oooohh. You already know this is FIRE!
Best fight ever (1st one) and best doc channel!
Thanks!
Castillo v Corrales next?! 💪🏽
This is truly one of the all time greatest gladiator battles I’ve ever seen two boxers demonstrate
Bro THIS is the fight I was waiting on for you to cover...oh boy...this one gonna be a national treasure!!!💣💥🔥
This made me tear up… I can’t quite put my finger on it but I think these fights fully embodied the indomitable human spirit.
These two boxing legends delivered some of the most epic wars and battles in boxing history.
No matter how many different documentaries I may have seen, no matter how many times I’ve watched the fights, how much I may or may not know or remember, this is one trilogy I always go back to. On top of all it is, it’s a great story with a lot of heart.
The three fights between these two managed to unintentionally earn the fight of the century (first fight imo) and greatest fight trilogy ever.
and fight 1 and 3 got fight of the year.
Gatti fought the 3rd fight with a broken hand that he suffered in the middle of the 5th round with a punch that connected to wards hip. Major props to both of these gladiators and rip to gatti, great fights these men had.
And Ward fought the second with a ruptured eardrum in the 3rd and no balance for the rest of the fight ... and they both still made 10 rounds. What the fuck 😳
I remember after that round Gatti telling his corner he broke his hand and his trainer kept repeating “what do you want me to do?!” He didn’t throw the broken left for the next half round then started throwing bombs again! One of my favorite boxing moments ever
@@greenanddan Yep. He forgot he had a broken hand pretty quick, got clipped a few times and just went straight back into killer mode. 😂 Both such amazing fighters.
How about the fight Gatti Vs Mayweather !
Was Gatti getting old ??
Glad you did one for this trilogy. The chins of these guys was just unreal. Both of them getting hit with devastating blows and just kept marching forward. Never seen anything like it.
Every video is top notch, keep up the great work, PLEASE!
Came back to say , dude, an Always Sunny reference?? You truly are the man. 🙏🏾👍🏾
By far the best combat sports documentaries on YT. I’ve recommended your videos to countless friends and family. Amazing stuff Vincent. Thank you for making this one as it is my favorite trilogy of all time. Can’t wait to watch 🥊
Joe, you're as much a legend as the people you honorably highlight. Each time you tell the storyline it's like an adventure that's never been told before. Much love brother.
Really the best trilogy on this sport. Even more, the respect and love this warrios had for eachother makes it more impressive. " The fight aint over, one More round _
A trilogy that produced a friendship that turned into brotherhood. Two of the greats to ever lace the boxing gloves. 👏🏼👏🏼
These three fights, cumulatively, took 15 years off both fighters lives. Legends!
In addition, these men didn't just respect each other, they loved each other. You can see that in their fights.
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. My dude!!! Delivery of the story. The clips. The wrap up at the end. Ya this a real one.
The legendary Joseph Vincent FINALLY covering the best boxing trilogy that ever has been or ever will be. Really conveying the pure grit and heart that these two fighters showed us those 3 fights
I was at all three and still feel the electricity. Never expected 2 and 3 to match the first fight at the Indian casino. They surpassed it in AC. RIP the Real Italian Stallion, Arturo Gatti
Damn you were at every single fight of the next trilogy in combat sports that’s amazing my guy
Sooooooo happy you finally covered this classic trilogy. 🙌🏽 thank you sir 🥊🥊
another classic documentary! so much history in fighting, thank you for bringing out the best
You’re the best. I asked so many times for this one and you did it
Absolutely beautiful story telling. Thank you for the work sir.
This channel has made my love for boxing increase and I learned so much that even my father is impressed
Quality work Joe. Loved every minute of that, from first to last.! Bless up bro 👊
Poped while I was watching something else, clicked it instantly.
I'm so glad we'll never get another Gatti/Ward, but that we still get to rewatch it.
A great doc on three of the best fights ever.
You are the best narrator and film editor ever! Thanks for your effort in bringing this fight trilogy to life... Two really tough guys.
People said Gatti commited suicide, there is no way that A guy like gatti ended his life, his wife definitely did it
Canadian and American doctors confirmed that it wasn't a suicide but Brazilian authorities sided with Gatti's wife, who was Brazilian.
Strangled by her purse strap.
No way a warrior like that could kill him self. He was murdered. Is that what people are saying???
A lot of people also think there's no way that a musical god like Michael Jackson could have been a child molester. People are not as perceptive as they think. I'm not saying that it's 100% obvious, but how tough of a boxer Gatti was has nothing to do with the likelihood of his suicide. Actually, it makes it a little harder to believe that his hanging was staged. Mental health is a tricky thing and fighters are "crazier" than most people
@@Talisman09 you probably never boxed you won't understand whats going on in the mind when you fight
You are the absolute greatest at this Mr. Vincent. I can't thank you enough for all the incredibly exciting entertainment you have provided to the world!!!!!! May all your dreams and desires be fulfilled.
Thanks for the fix Mr Vincent. Don’t leave me hanging for this long next time. Love your work. Look forward to the next one.
I've said it once I've said it a 1000 times and I will keep saying it Joe Vincent hands down is the most underrated RUclips channel of all time. The quality of his highlight videos is 2nd to none!! You can see the care, passion, and live he puts in this videos. I know people in the comments say that ESPN should hire him, but truthfully, ESPN wouldn't appreciate this dude!!
Sir Joseph, thank you so much for all these quality videos. You are awsome.
Another great boxing documentary! Please make full videos on Arturo and Micky!
no greater trilogy in any combat sport by two of the best ever to lace em up rip gatti
Thanks Vincent for keeping up the videos, really amazing keeping history and legacies within the sport of Boxing. This trilogy is one of the best, I always go back to watch the documentary of these fights. R.I.P Arturo Gatti and Thank You and Mickey Ward for the memories as a kid predominantly watching boxing.
Such an emotional trilogy. You don't have to twist my arm to get me to watch those two warriors go at it.
Round 9 of the first fight is my favorite round of all-time, because it seemed like it lasted 10 minutes. Gatti put himself on the map, then Ward put himself on the map, and now they are both boxing royalty. Best 30 rounds between two foes, period. Amazing video.
Listen, Joe. JV. Mr. Vincent.
I’ve watched these fights SO many times - they’re some of the best fights in the history of boxing imo.
The grit, the heart, the punches thrown. The respect. Unreal and never gets old.
Joseph Vincent just don't miss on any vids I'm grateful you're here on RUclips doing vids like this BIG SALUTE
Ohhhhh thank you for doing this legendary fight! Please do their whole thing!!!! YOU'RE THE SHIZZ!!!!!
Always appreciate you brotha🙏🏿
"Round 9".. what can I say....has me in tears every time....no words...
Gatti vs Ward fights are the best boxing fights I've ever witnessed and this is a phenomenal retelling of them in all their glory. JV, you knocked it out of the park yet again.
What a time to be alive ! I watch the trilogy nearly every weekend , goosebumps everytime I do . Words can't really describe the heart in the 2 of those men in the three fights . Sad that there isn't gonna be another trilogy like it . Mad respect 🙏 👏 🙌
Thoroughly enjoyed that sir! Hats off to you on another stellar presentation 👏
You really are the best on youtube. Hopefully you have some more pre-1960s boxers lined up. Love hearing their stories on top of the black and white films.
i'm watching this with headphones, the editing and sound design is simply amazing ! thank you !!!
Thanks for watching!
Can’t wait for the day you make a Wilder vs Fury Vid wit all three fights put together ❗️💪🏾 love the vids
How is this comment 6 days old but the vid came out 4 hours ago???
Could we get a Gatti Documentary? He is mine hero
Why u stop making football videos that’s what made me fall In love whit this channel
Just some constructive criticism. Nobody brings it home like Joe Vincent but please keep it clean I want to show you works of art to kids too. Don't take me the wrong way. You're the best I just want you to be the best to the next generation too
Keep up the great work. Some of the best matches ever. I remember watching all of these with my grandpa...I can still smell his cigars. Thanks for this
I've watched every single vid on this channel, this is hands down the most emotional
Two warriors. Three incredible fights. Millions of people watching. Infinite respect to both men.
Brilliant video, thanks dude.
Imo THE BEST boxing feud of all time. I was so lucky to see all these fights on live tv and I will always remember exactly where I was and weirdly specific details around me for each of them. Only other events I remember like that were 9/11 and finding out I was going to be a father. Bless these warriors. They should never me forgotten. Great video as alway. Keep getting better each time.
Ive watched so many of his videos including the most recent ones always enjoy them but I think this is one of his top 5 videos. Just so well done! Absolute peak entertainment!
Good shit bro in happy finally you cover this legendary trilogy crazy how I was just watching all 3 fights again just last week
You never truly know somebody until you fight them. Any fighter worth their salt will tell you this. Gr8 footage as always. Keep it up. This is bar none the best boxing channel on this platform. God Bless 🙏.
Keep it up Vince. If you're ever in Canada and want ringside seats hit me up. I'm deep in the culture. So are you. Check us out.
An unexpected video but always a banger. Keep it up, much love
Purely commenting so more people see this and Mr Vincent continues to have the means to make epics docs.
I remember watching these fights with my Dad when I was a teenager. This trilogy got me into boxing.
Its not worth the brain damage it causes later! I can just imagine how those MMA fighters will be health wise, down the road.
❤️ This! Quality as per usual 👍👊
Best video I've ever watched of yours. Been here for years. Keep it up. Love this style
I say on every video he make but nobody does it like Joe Vincent . Outstanding work
Another epic doc. Best in the business. Would love to see a Spider Silva or Purnell Whitaker one. That being said, it could be about a figure skater, if JV does it, I’m watching it.
This rivalry is the epitome of HEART!!!
Goddamn. Between watching the slow-mo clips and the real time clips, I'm literally *amazed* that a human being can take a beating like this and somehow still walk away afterwards, no big deal. Literally fascinating, esp when you notice just how HARD the punches are, I can't imagine what a punch to the liver actually feels like...
Daaaamn. Another fantastic top notch production. Thank you very much.
Joe Vincent is legendary!!! Delivers quality every SINGLE time! keep up the good work!
Love the new video concept!!! Can't wait to watch it!
Yo Joe, thank you for your commitment to excellence and highlighting lesser known but, still incredible stories from the history of this oh so sweet science!
Their first fight is still to this day the greatest fight I’ve ever watched live. Absolutely incredible!
Great work like always 💪Sugar Ray Robinson, Andre Ward ,James Toney would make great Docs too 💯
Absolutely my favorite boxing saga of all time! The way each man brought out the absolute limit of heart, determination and skill of the other was transformative. Were there more famous trilogies? Sure. Bigger names, bigger fighters, bigger paydays. But you will never, EVER find bigger heart and bigger character in any other match up in all of all of boxing.
I mostly agree with you but that Ali/Frazier trilogy was more brutal in my opinion, I mean they literally tried to kill each other. They lost 10 pounds in the 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 fight. It was the closest thing to death that either of them ever faced. All due respect to Gatti/Ward, I give them the #2 spot definitely🤔😉😈👊🦾
@@ipleathetv6334 I think you are entirely right about the brutality angle. Both Ali and Frazier were WAY more powerful than Gatti and Ward. Ali himself said in an interview that that fight was the closest to dying he could imagine. Probably the best fight of all time, the Thriller in Manila. It is still inspiring young fighters nearly half a century later.
Another banger of a video Vincent, Thank you.
Three of the best fights and trilogies ever!!!!
This one leaves me with a few tears. Great doc as always.
I've been hoping you'd do this. Some of the best fights I've ever seen.
Once I requested you to make a video on gatti , nd now u delivered.. appreciate it 😎😎
Thank you very much for making this one!!
J.V. Legend is gonna take over one day. Love these videos!! Thank you
What a video!!! You told a beautiful story with this video.
I called for this a while ago and you delivered appreciate it :)
Ive watched these fights at least 30x but seeing it on your channel in slow motion editing man what a effin war so beautiful its like ballet but at war the way they fought and both fighters have an amazing story especially Micky ward he was just a regular joe like all the rest of us but a hell of a fighter .
Amazing work as usual!!! You by far make the best sports documentaries!!!!! Please do 1 on Boom Boom Mancini, or the boxing trilogy of Aaron Pryor vs Alexis Arguello!!!!!!
another truly, fantastic documentary.
The legend is up with a rival documentary
best boxing videos bring by this channel ! we want a ALI VS FRAZIER please
I've probably watched Ward Gatti 1 more times than any other fight. Over 100 times I even have the trilogy on VHS...that 9th round puts the Rocky movie fights to shame. It doesn't even look real it's so damn perfect.
Ps. You didn't mention the point that got taken away from Gatti from that low blow. That is what decided the first fight in the end. Good thing to otherwise we may not have gotten to see the 3rd fight.
He did mention it?

Both I guess lol. I thought heard it in the video when I read your comment. I agree with you on that 9th round holy hell!
@@camkraw893 he may have and I just didn't hear it
@@camkraw893 I think the confusion came in because he mentioned the low blow he just didn't say anything about the point that was taken away for it.
