    Maaaaaaan this guy just keeps raising the bar. Between the choice of athletes feautured, the Intel, themes, video footage, narration, soundbites, and overall presentation, ESPN has been obsolete to me since 2018. And now he's added individual epic fight breakdown to his repertoire. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, does it like Joe Vincent. Nobody. It is stuff of legend.

    'Irish' Mickey Ward’s signature punch was an extremely effective left hook to the liver, a weapon that earned him more than a few clean knockouts. Few boxers have relied so much on that single, debilitating weapon. Today Mikey does suffer symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy because his ability to absorb punches were extraordinary.

That quote has stuck with me for as long as I've been watching the sport and in my mind, no trilogy has ever come close to this one in terms of the spirit, violence, and determination put on display by Ward and Gatti. Mega thanks for giving this your iconic touch, Joe. It was a superb watch.

      Just some constructive criticism. Nobody brings it home like Joe Vincent but please keep it clean I want to show you works of art to kids too. Don't take me the wrong way. You're the best I just want you to be the best to the next generation too

    Imo THE BEST boxing feud of all time. I was so lucky to see all these fights on live tv and I will always remember exactly where I was and weirdly specific details around me for each of them. Only other events I remember like that were 9/11 and finding out I was going to be a father. Bless these warriors. They should never me forgotten. Great video as alway. Keep getting better each time.

    Goddamn. Between watching the slow-mo clips and the real time clips, I'm literally *amazed* that a human being can take a beating like this and somehow still walk away afterwards, no big deal. Literally fascinating, esp when you notice just how HARD the punches are, I can't imagine what a punch to the liver actually feels like...

    Absolutely my favorite boxing saga of all time! The way each man brought out the absolute limit of heart, determination and skill of the other was transformative. Were there more famous trilogies? Sure. Bigger names, bigger fighters, bigger paydays. But you will never, EVER find bigger heart and bigger character in any other match up in all of all of boxing.

    • @ipleathetv6334
      @ipleathetv6334 Год назад +1

      I mostly agree with you but that Ali/Frazier trilogy was more brutal in my opinion, I mean they literally tried to kill each other. They lost 10 pounds in the 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 fight. It was the closest thing to death that either of them ever faced. All due respect to Gatti/Ward, I give them the #2 spot definitely🤔😉😈👊🦾

    • @InformationIsTheEdge
      @InformationIsTheEdge Год назад +1

      @@ipleathetv6334 I think you are entirely right about the brutality angle. Both Ali and Frazier were WAY more powerful than Gatti and Ward. Ali himself said in an interview that that fight was the closest to dying he could imagine. Probably the best fight of all time, the Thriller in Manila. It is still inspiring young fighters nearly half a century later.

    I've probably watched Ward Gatti 1 more times than any other fight. Over 100 times I even have the trilogy on VHS...that 9th round puts the Rocky movie fights to shame. It doesn't even look real it's so damn perfect.
    Ps. You didn't mention the point that got taken away from Gatti from that low blow. That is what decided the first fight in the end. Good thing to otherwise we may not have gotten to see the 3rd fight.
