FUNMILAYO RANSOME-KUTI, MOTHER OF THE NIGERIAN REPUBLIC

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was a notable Nigerian activist and feminist born on October 25, 1900, in Abeokuta. She fought for women's rights, education, and social justice. Ransome-Kuti founded the Abeokuta Women's Union in 1946, advocating for various issues including suffrage, healthcare, and education. She was also involved in the Nigerian independence movement and represented Nigeria at the United Nations. Her children, including musician Fela Kuti, carried on her legacy.
