I read that she plaid in an Urs Mächler. Supposedly a mellow tone which I find very pleasing when listening to this recording. It would of course sound much different live in person. I disagree with her violin sounding restricted. I’m curious if any foundation offered her a del Gesu or Strad after she won the Menuhin.
She is my candidate for 1st prize. The Paganiniana was wonderfully intimate, musical, and technically simply mind-boggling. The Paganini was simply magnificent. She has that little extra that transcends into something truly from another world.
i don't think she deserved it. she uses too much bow while pressing too much on half notes (not talking about the expressive tempo). Those notes from 0:33 and 0:36 killed my vibe. I prefer Sumina performance. While Sumina still uses too much bow for a Beethoven repertoire, she doesn't press the bow too much, doing an excelent performance on no expressive tempo.

Diana was always my choice for first because throughout the competition, she displayed really mature interpretations: like she was a violinist with a much older soul.
Wow. I've never heard such clear and penetrating tones in the high positions. Such fantastic attack and vibrato up there. Also a brilliant and vibrant sound on the G string. I'm not surprised she won. She has everything she needs. Wonderful bow control, lovely fat sound and very focused rhythm. She also understands the architecture of the pieces she is playing.
24:15 was her bowhold intentional? She’s playing beautifully, obviously, just wondering because my teacher always says not to hold it like that, but she does it great 🤔
Good to see that the Menuhin Competition places importance on chamber music performance as well as solo playing; but it's wholly inappropriate to focus on the 1st Violin part of the Brahms 1st String Quartet , as in the camera work for this video. This is a quartet! not a violin work with accompaniment. It doesn't do much justice to her or to the music!
This is a competition and she is the competitor. There are several wider shots and shots of the other musicians. To be honest, I typically have my eyes closed, so it wouldn't bother me anyway.

То есть,относительно кому-то она играет идеально,отлично, а относительно кому-то она в среднем уровне.Ведь такие же вещи есть.То есть,умейте делать анализ над исполнителями. А там было ясно как Божий день,что она первое место подкупила.Можно было бы это место дать азиатам или же как я уже отметила Nathan Mierdl-великолепный скрипач.

I love how clean she plays and that tiny almost scratchy but perfect noise when she changes bows - just like Hilary Hahn!

Every 1st prize winner on big competition generally have a very special character in terms of their playing and personal attitudes. She deserved it!
When she hits her g string at 15:20, it is exactly what you would expect if you love the piece and it was like a Cannon.

I find it so poetic that we are able to hear her breathe as she plays. Chills down my spine throughout the whole last piece. Beautiful!

To correct my error, the quartet is Beethoven's Op. 18 #4. My comment remains the same.
