Imagine your grandma destroying your high score in Berzerk.
...would cause someone to kill over ....uh oh....
.....what i mean is someone killed over playing Berzerk the arcade game.
Bruce Jenner. Lol
Am gonna playing atari today, heeey heey😁
A few more decades and grandmas will have grown up with Atari
These commercials made me realize how much fun video games were back then...
So simple yet provided millions of people entertainment.
Absolutely. I remember in 7th grade, trade-borrowing cartridges with a classmate friend. I remember borrowing Kaboom, River Raid, Enduro, and Pitfall. I also remember a friend of a friend bringing over Keystone Kapers.
Many years later, I bought this Compilation Activision Atari 2600 games disc for my Ps2. WoW, talk about Fun and reliving the good ole 1980's..!! That compilation game-disc for Ps2 is Phenomenal. Currently, my Ps2 has been out of order, for Quite some time. No wonder I'm basically chronically depressed. : /
Back then games were made for enjoyment
Now theyre made for money :(
Money was involved, but there were people mindful to at least make their games addicting without spending more. Which is not the same now.@@Kimarnic
@@robertdecker146A PS2 that doesn’t work anymore?! Blasphemy…
Miss the good ole days. The commercials are gone, but i still play my 2600 with my kids, passing on the simple frustrations and joys of my childhood.
"Every blip is a ship.". That pretty much sums up Atari graphics.
dot chasing a dot?.....on early games before they actually put ram in the cardtridge....
One of the few honest commercials here
Reminds me of the GTA Vice City radio commercials of that video game system where everything was either a red square or a green dot.
"I will never go to school again!"
"Journey with me to the year 2019"
We don't really have the remote tanks in 2019 than we do remote flying drones to perform attacks on the enemy. :)
I just time traveled, took me over 30 years to get here.
Yes take me to 2019..
2019...A simpiler time.
We don't have robot tanks but we do have female Bruce Jenner 🤮
I like how some of the commercials credit the creator like David Crane. Imagine a Nintendo commercial saying Shigeru Miyamoto’s Super Mario Bros.
That was a key purpose of Activision - giving credit to the developers. Most of the tram that started Activision were former Atari employees that were unhappy with how they were treated, paid, and made invisible by Atari.
I feel lucky to remember those days.
So you're that old?
@mVP okay doomer
I love how the Pole Position commercial shows the Namco arcade version instead of the Atari 2600 version. Game publishers pulling that on us way back then
I specifically remember when my Pops brought home Berzerk-He must have been playing the arcade previously because no one in our family could beat his score, lol.
its a wonder he didn't kill over playing the arcade game like that kid did when the screen registered 666.
wut you can play Berzerk at home???
Lol Bruce Gender in the ad was hilarious.
That liquidation commercial at the end perfectly represents the video game crash in 1983
If it weren’t for Nintendo gaming would’ve probably died in 1983 love them or hate them they saved the industry and it is now not just a fad but a form of entertainment
@@rickyrosay33977 Gaming wouldn't have died - everybody was switching to home computers at that point.
It's from 1984. I am aware that the crash started during 1983, but it was during 1984 when the general public really started seeing the mass destruction. During 1983 there were still normal video game commercials on TV and hundreds of new releases for eight different consoles. By 1984, the only consoles getting new releases were Atari 2600 and Colecovision and only about 20 releases in total for them (the biggest game being Pitfall 2, a really great game that had the misfortune of being released during the video game wasteland of 1984). Everything else was dead and this liquidation commercial was what was happening during 1984. Most of the general public was unaware there was a crash during 1983, but they definitely knew during 1984 when the mass destruction became VERY noticeable.
9:47 A great piece of Video Game Crash media.
I was 10 years old when the crash happened. I had no idea there was a crash, I was just having a great time buying Atari cartridges for cheaper than ever! And then, by the end of '84, it was a video game desert out there, save for the occasional appearance in the dollar store.
And now Atari has released a new 2600. We are truly living in the best age of Atari in a long time
I wasn't even alive when these commercials were on TV, but I think they are fun to watch. I play atari 2600 because there are really great games and homebrew games on it. They just don't make fun commercials like these anymore. 😢
I remember playing pole position 2 in a laundry mat as a really young kid. I love all the old Arcade games, but sadly, retro arcades aren't super common.
Happy 50th Anniversary Atari!
When I was 5 and early six I had an Atari while everyone else had a Nintendo
"It can shoot in 4 directions!"
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!
7:15 He isn't wrong. Drone strikes were a thing even 15 years prior to then.
"Luther destroys the Gond!"
"Huh huh-huh. 🤪"
Seems to me Luther probably ate a lot of paint chips when he was a little kid. 😜🤣
8:06 - That's a rather cool case mod for an 80s era 5" B&W TV set.
No dlc, no downloads, no digital only, no updates, no consoles with only 2 years lifespan…. I miss the good old gaming days.
Dawg. Tf?! Consoles since the PS2/OG Xbox have life cycles of 6-7 years lol. In the case of the PS2 13 years.
And also no quality, lel
5200 not withstanding.
Don knotts trying to escape prison...he didn't get far lol.
He must've thought he was in the mayberry cell.
He made it to the reagle beagle though!
Barney was undercover!!!
That's just Mr Furley trying to impress the kids (even Jack!) 😁
7:15 that aged well
Wow, so many memories. Thanks for posting!
I still have mine. Cheers!!
Funnest, as in, the Most Entertaining video I've watched on RUclips in a good while. I was Smiling Wide at literally every commercial. I was gifted an Atari 2600 in April of 1983, actually 5 weeks before my 13th birthday. An early birthday gift basically. My Dad caught a really good deal. $88. I eventually accumulated 28 game cartridges by the summer of 1984, and then I wound up selling it a few days after Thanksgiving of that year. I Very Much Regret doing that. I sold it so that I'd have enough money to purchase the Next Level Hot System at that time(The Commodore 64). Decisions Decisions as thee ole saying goes.
I still have my original Atari 2600 Jr. hooked up right next to my Nintendo and Genesis. It's works perfectly first try every game.
I love old commercials
great collection! I was expecting the Phil Hartman Ice Hockey and Jack Black Pitfall, but saw some that i havent seen since they were aired on tv. thanks for uploading, it was fun!!
A great way to finish the video. When the crash happened, it really did. People just unplugged everything and shoved it into the back of the closet.
I'm korean, and I didn't know about atari at that era, but I think that those commercials are genius IMAO
the atari did actually come out in your area, if you care :_ . it was renamed the 2800
hey .....is this a joke?.....the parts for that system was made in korena i think .....lol.......oh parts maybe made there but you probly had no idea of that i guess.....
Any grandma's ever played video games with you at the time???
I never had a grandma play games with me but it would be crazy and fun experience I would assume
The ad at 1:34, is some wholesome☺
it put a smile on my face :)
That one made me really happy tbh
I wasn't born until the 90s.
So why do I feel nostalgic watching this?
cause your a nerd!
@@GamerKeags_YT no, I'm 28.
@@popeyejones9256 How do you feel after you said that? Stupid? That’s a pretty accurate thing to feel about yourself right now
@@nintega_64 it's a joke... anyway you got to understand all video game players at that time were nerds playing video games were not in the main stream until the Nes. I was a video game nerd.
Bruce Jenner sighting lol!
Is he the lost twin?
Air and Sea Battle?! Damn the dog has excellent taste!
Journey Escape is worth the 20$ alone, but Space Jokey they could keep
3:45 Enduro! 👍 STILL one of my favorite racing games in 2023. I love Atari.
I love how many Atari commercials are family bonding together having fun.
In today's society *family is taboo.*
Wii commercials: *Are we jokes to you?*
Excuse me sir/madam, whoever you identify as? Please don't say the 'F' word. it may offend some of our 'sensitive' viewers.
@@Nigaromia you know, maybe *you* should consider ‘identifying’ as ‘being funny and original’.
It's accurate too. I remember visiting my aunt and uncle's house and my whole extended family would play Atari. Home video games were a new thing back then and I think that is the reason. Of course, I was too young to realize that they were new! The games were designed to be played together, either simultaneously or players would take turns as each game didn't take very long to play out before your "turn" was over.
God I loved reactor
Those were the best days
Just ordered one and cant wait to play it. Thrift Store by my house has a whole wall of atari games for the buying
Bruce Jenner before getting the trans bug.
7:15 we’re here in the year 2019
Me: 😂
"Yer out, Rose!" Yep. Truer words were never spoken.
Also, 2:26, is that Leon Askin?
Graphics are better than PS5!
my favorite games: Midnight Magic (pinball), Yars' Revenge, PItfall2, Cosmic ark, riddle of the Sphinx, Maze Craze.

idk if this is random but i watched this vid and had the idea for a analog horror of a game company very similar to Atari, called passman, which is owned by passover systems, basically its like the walten files x Atari, the owner of the company cuts off his best freind to focus on his company and starts to drink too much, he gets very drunk one night and gets into a argument with his wife and kills her, he buries the body in his backyard and goes back to work the next day, the guilt overwhelms him, her ghost haunts his dreams, he sees her evreywhere, he goes mad, starts killing employees at night, putting their brain matter into the game cartriges. (it sucks, but im working on it)
The voice over on the kaboom commercial sounded like michael bell.
ZAN EXXOR!!!
Atari 2600 was my childhood. I have about 4 or 5 of them, an Atari 7800 ProSystem, and I have roughly 93 Atari 2600 cartridges, all those 93 aren't copies of each other, it's literally 93 individual game cartridges. I do have copies of some games but I don't include them in my count of 93.
Isn't it interesting how you can end up with multiple same games? Same happened to me. I have like 3 Adventures and 3 HomeRun cartridges each in my 2600 collection. Where did the copies come from? 😅
The best games ever . I was so proud I couldn't but I did I went all in . for my son's and bought them I've first one came out.
Damn i remember playing these games. The violence really made me want to act it out in real life.
2021 here.
that was pathetic the pole position because thats not how it looks on the 2600
Same for QBert. The advertisers tried to pull a slick and quick one by listing the target home consoles. The only problem is the games weren't yet available, which makes the ad moot.
maybe its the 7800 version .....could be...of that & q.bert ....or atari computer version
I FRICKIN LOVE ENDURO.
One of my top five favorite games for the 2600 for sure.
The coolest commercial here too.
It's just night driver on steroids..not taking about a tv show but an old atari game called that...
I love how the commercials make the game look epic when really some of them were just boring.
Warlords is forever awesome
Anyone notice that Winnie the Pooh’s narrator was in the Pitfall commercial?
Look closely at 2:32 That's one of the actors from 'Hogans Heroes'! Fun Tidbit.
No TV advertisements for Crystal Castles?
Pole Position/Contra/PacMan/Astroids= the best 4 gms fr Atari
hilarious Don Knotts
Take that turkey! Lol that kid had a hip granny
oh shit i live in WV where the last ad took place. no wonder i find so many copies of that fucking journey game lmao
what ad is that I live here too.
0:22 is that Don Knotts?

Леонид Кнутов do Russians have game system?
@@chirho100 in USSR 80-s has more systems as soviet clones of ZX Spectrum, more different soviet home computer sistems -Vektor 06С, BK-0010 and others. In our country foreingh systems as nintendo, sega has been in 90-s
Леонид Кнутов wich is your favorite? I am looking it up. Kinda reminds me of comparing a Lada to a Gremlin. I enjoy this info and I thank you.
@@chirho100 as a child, I had a Chinese clone of NES. The year in 1992. At the same time, many played in Spectrum. There were Soviet computers in us, they were at school. It was an Agat-9 Soviet clone of Apple 2
Atari 2600 also met, but not the original. A Chinese clone, and this is much later than in America. In the 90s
3:05 its CAITLYN
No it wasn't ...this person had a different dingy I think 🤔
I loved playing my Atari 2600 VCS video games and these commercials bring back some fond memories. #HaveYouPlayedAtariToday
Activision had some of the best titles for the 2600.
The Bruce Jenner one aged poorly but everything else was just perfect :)
i rember most of thease ad s problem i had a black n white tv.
lol ... you say no copyright infringement is intended, however, you add your logo on the bottom left of the screen ... the only PURPOSE for that is to mark the content as YOURS, thus copyrighting the content! Do your own research before claiming one thing and doing another ...
Just be grateful of the shared content, instead of being a complete twat about it! Who cares if a logo is added, did it really destroy your experience that much?
@1:15 - I think they gave that dog some acid or something.

7:17 "journey with me to the year 2019. the persons sitting in this chair has the power to alter the course of history" I born in 1982, the 2000´s. The 2000s seemed so far away, and now here we are in 2023. When I was a kid, I imagined the 2000s as totally different from what it is today. I thought people would become much smarter, I thought we would have landed on Mars by now, we would have a cure for AIDS...
but today we have tiktokers...
I agree. Instead society moved to the Left and became ultra woke and privileged instead of getting smarter.
I remember thinking how crazy it was going to be to see the turn of the century! And now, all I really remember about it is the Y2K scare haha.

marscop9013 _ nothing but myths and legends and the few deaths that are true have bits about them that are usually ignored.
yeah but not this version.....the ultra hard arcade version.....and the score had 666 on the screen .
Some poor kid had a heart attack while playing it, yes. But the thing was, he already had a heart condition and reportedly ran at very fast speeds across multiple blocks to get to the arcade and had been playing for hours, breathless and hunched over, before he died.
The version I heard had a kid die of a heart attack when evil otto showed up..
