Oil In't Rooed, Wow, I remember that, met our lass (been together 40+ years) at the Fishtank to call to ABC to watch Alien then a few pubs. Those were the days Tim.

If we are going to bring this city back most of all in the center then we need to aim for the working sector our people in Sheffield and the surrounding areas .have apartment's that are rentable or within a reasonable price range to etc .
Offices already there along with shopping space offer good deals on renting out .
Have independents mixed in with natural chains in a whole range of areas .
Start bringing back good old style pubs etc
If we are going to have markets have that one at the Moor but a new one where castle market used to be .
Have a bus service on the city center flat rate 50p .
Bring down parking fees for cars .
Get rid of that silly ulez rubbish once and for all .
Make bus routes coming into city better simple routes not going all over the place from A to B .
I'm sure they are other things that can be added on to this list .

I agree but this is all about control Tim, they want to control our every movement in digital cities. QR codes next. Happening all over London shops.

You can't bring things back if there are no people. Two more pubs have closed since Christmas in city centre.

I hear some strange story about Billingsgate tower having a freezer at the bottom to keep the ground solid when I worked at Midland bank.

Back i 1985 when we had decent jobs in Sheffield, I was working for HSBC, zero town centre accommodation or I could have considered it.

The furniture shop below Peter Robinson was Waring & Gillow: high quality.
The highest building we have so far is the Velocity Tower 36 floors. The land is being bought up cheap by Chinese and these flats are for Chinese students. We dont need more retail or office space either and imagine working in a building like that (if there were the office jobs these days which there are not); even call centres terrible soul-destroying places are closing as work is being sent overseas or people working from home! I had assumed the Easy Hotel part was coming down also😮: tacky £20 a night.

Velocity tower stopped at 20 floors didn't get built to the full height. St Pauls currently the highest building. I agree we should make good what we have and make the city desirable to shop and work in. Wait for my West bar and Tenter St video.

80 floors sounds like a nightmare I can't think why you would advocate it. These students are not on 'student loans' that won't get paid back they are wealthy Chinese. Indeed, there aren't any proper office jobs any more; the days in the workplace we remember😢 are long gone so why do we want more office space?

I am not against progress if the build looks good and was an icon for the city with a place I could go to view. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_and_structures_in_Greater_ManchesterPeople keep telling my how good Manchester is, but it doesn't look it to me. @@misscoutts6193

Prime location and its probably going to be student flats or bedsits for foreigners
Could we not build a mini shopping centre instead with offices ?
Have a focus on more independent shops ?
Then again Sheffield is a dead city with nl buzz or excitement of leeds or Manchester so who'd want to set up offices unless they were cheap

The Chinese have done a lot for the city around the ring road area near bottom of the moor
