I’d love for you all to check out the whole video, especially the part about the Stanford Prison Experiment. And tell me in comments what do you think about it, does it fully explains why good people can turn evil, or is there more to the story? I’m curious to hear everyone's opinion here. Thanks! My belief is that there are few truly good people most people only "act good" because of fear of punishment, be it legal or if they are religious, divine. When these rules are removed people go evil with little hesitation because its what they want to be all the time. This is why riots, public beatings, or "honor killings" draw crowds so fast, it's a chance to let out who they really are while hiding in the crowd. I appreciate you addressing the darker side of humanity and having the guts to call it evil, and not try to downplay it.
Yes, very few people do good because thats the right thing to do or simply why not do good things. But I would also add that those people are "nice" and not good. Because a nice person and a good person aren't the same.
It's more complex than that. First: when the "rules" are suspended. When, I ask, has that ever been? The "rules" have never been suspended. The truth of God is stamped on every human soul. There are, it is true, some conscienceless people. I take it that these are that mysterious group which the Bible terms "reprobate." The vast majority of us are not sociopathic, however. And though all of us are capable of evil, and we are all sinners, not all of us choose to do evil, and some of us choose to do good knowing it will be to our detriment. Jesus Christ makes the difference for most. Occasionally, there are great non Christians such as Viktor Frankl. Most of us who go against the grain are going to do so only because we have God within us, prompting us to do good and turn away from evil. And please note: this is not based on fear. The reign of Jesus Christ in an individual's life brings peace, not fear, a desire to obey because the person wants to please God, not because he lives in terror of what God may do to him if he disobeys.
There are no good people lad. We live a duality ran reality of the kingdom of "good and evil". Pure Good = Heaven... Absolute Evil = Hell. Both sides have rules and we have to chose. "Good" people turning Evil is the message of hell, to beat the light out of them. Jesus Christ is the only way to absolute Good and that's what he came to do. That is the story of all existence. I spent 20yrs researching this matter so far. In science; philosophy, history, mathematics, physics, language, religions, relationships, chemistry, biology, the story shows good vs evil, takers and givers.. the evil taketh by violence. Think Agent Smith. Satan wants to take over the whole system and all life form is made of Carbon which has 6 electrons, 6 Neutrons, 6 protons, 666. Like the key keeper, satan can walk into any door he wants except for those that belong to Christ. Every rescue story is the gospel of Christ.
Good & Evil depend on perspective. We have created a society divided by empathy & apathy, intensely masculine versus extremely feminine. It's broadcast on social media, the radio & television but what drives this division? Poor Parenting, plane & simple. Success demands vision & discipline, character & sacrifice, humility & pride. You are alive in the most opulent era of human history, even the impoverished are given Government funds (obtained through taxation of the diligently employed) to eat with. The question is, how long until it all collapses & hunger is running rampant throughout society? Leadership is what the world is lacking & the more insufferable society becomes, the more comfortable an authoritarian Government will be with its punishments & personally, I would enjoy seeing the oubliette make a comeback. You can take steps to prepare yourself but count your blessings that you are alive now instead of then or when. Enjoy your frozen & prepackaged, processed meals with extremely high volumes of sodium. I miss the times when everyone didn't taste like salt.
I’m not saying human’s aren’t evil sometimes. I believe that there is evidence that Zimbardo’s writing is based on a self fulfilling prophecy. He finds what he wants to find because he pressured the experimental guards to be evil and please him in their depravity. He sees humans as evil in essence so he pushed people to exhibit it and then he concludes thus.
Even to enforce good in the world, you need power and to get power, you not to be bad. Anyone who thinks, they can be good and get power, is delusional.
Not wanting to be contarian but there would be a rype of psycology in a person that would be different from someone like myself who wouldnt volunteer for such a experiment . This is my opinion .

Nonesense. Just look at what the Israel is doing to the people of Gaza. Humans are far more evil than this experiment demonstrated.

Why go to the trouble of setting up an elaborate study to learn what a brief look at any police department would tell you...or any black man?
Or any black man? What the heck is that even supposed to mean?
