  • Faction says the Prodigy 2.0 is the ultimate tool for shredding across the entire mountain. Curated experts, Daryl Morrison, Matt Wood, and Thomas Harari took this ski out on the slopes of Winter Park, Colorado. Is this playful twin-tip really ahead of its time or is the Prodigy still developing?

      Candide

      The prodigy is softer in the tip and tails according to faction because they got new flex profiles. In previous years the prodigy was stiffer but this year it isn’t.

      Hey Ben, model-model in the same waist width the prodigys are stiffer for sure. The one exception to that being the new 2021 CT 2.0s which have an added metal laminate in the core, those are stiffer than the other CT models that I have skied!

      @Frederic Leblanc I am not being paid to relay to you all what brands market their skis as, I am speaking from personal experience on the gear! So I stand by my sense of the skis after having been on them. Companies make lots of claims about their gear, and depending on how different people ski, those claims can be entirely accurate, or not be quite right. Again, everyone has different experiences on skis, but from mine, the Prodigies ski stiffer tip-tail whereas the CTs have more play, particularly once you get closer to the tip and tail, if that makes sense!

    What would you guys say about the 1.0 which is 90 underfoot? Have any experience on this model? Love the review of the 2.0 but my goal would be mainly aimed at hardpack and groomer use. Is the 1.0 the same build, stiffness, etc?

    • @5brofishing913
      @5brofishing913 3 года назад

      i just got the faction 1.0 they are pretty much more towards the park soft ski but you defiantly could ski hard pact

    • @darylmorrison3358
      @darylmorrison3358 3 года назад +1

      Hi Kevin! Daryl here, the 1.0s are similar in construction for sure. However, since they are narrower, you lose a bit of stability and float that the extra 8mm for the 2.0s provides. Ultimately that will translate to the ski being a bit more maneuverable, and depending on how fast you ski, feeling slightly more chattery. The 1.0s are a solid choice for groomer/hardpack ripping. If you want to chat more, hit me up on my curated profile! Hope that helps!

    Hey! Is there a big difference between the prodigy 2.0 and the menace 98? Last year I rode the menace and I loved it. But I'm thinking to buy the new prodigy 2.0

    • @darylmorrison3358
      @darylmorrison3358 3 года назад

      Hi Isaac, Daryl here! I ski the 2.0s myself and they are going to be considerably stiffer than the Menaces. If you like how soft the menaces are, there are better options for you out there than the Prodigys!

    I think this is very strange. Have they updated the flexpatern on the prodigy. I bought my faction prodigy 2.0 19/20 last year and skiied it at least 3 weeks. My bindings are set in freestyle which is +3 cm from original manufactures. I think they are soft all over and are not great if you want to go +90k km/h. Super playful and are actually fun carving low to medium speed. They must have changed it or these people havent used them for there real perpous. Butters, rotations and playing around...

    • @darylmorrison3358
      @darylmorrison3358 3 года назад +2

      Hey Johan! Just a quick point to note: These were demo skis so they were back mounted, I requested that they push the bindings as far forward as possible for me, so I could get a better sense of how they ski close to a true center mount. That being said, my park skis are the 2020 2.0s (mounted true center) and I would say my assessment of them would be consistent with the 2021 2.0s. One thing to keep in mind as well is that the length that you have the skis in is certainly going to impact your opinion on how they function at speed, for example, mine are 171s, so they're certainly less stable at speed than the 183s I tested out in this review! Likewise, since we were demoing these, we weren't able to ski them in the park (hence why I went with a longer pair) so this review purely addresses how they ski mainly on piste/not in the park. Happy to chat more about my experience on the 2.0s in the park if you would like! Hope that helps!

      Daryl Morrison, wow great answer! Did not see anyone putting in this much effort into a comment. I find them to be ”snappy and poppy”. Light weight and manoverable. Its not easy to learn butters on them because of the flexpatterm but if you completed that first step of butters, then the ski will help you inprove and progress the freestyle learningcurv. What do think about them?

    • @darylmorrison3358
      @darylmorrison3358 3 года назад +1

      @@johan8967 I totally agree with the snappy/poppy comment, and can see why you feel that buttering is harder to learn on these as they run stiffer than many other similar options on the market. I personally think they're fantastic and super versatile skis. Today I was honestly skiing them all over, groomers, in the park, mellow big mountain lines (not too much snow here yet!) and they charged through everything. I would say that they are certainly more suited to someone who's comfortable and confident and at least a bit aggressive in their skiing style. They're not the most forgiving ski, but that means they can generally be pushed harder and farther. for someone like me, who likes to ski fast and hard everywhere I go, and have a ski that is stable at speed and on hard landings, they're great!
