Hi Samina, Thanks so much, I showed how to finish this top during my Fab Fit Friday Live Stream last week. facebook.com/jsterndesigns37/videos/10222916438162211/
Awesome! Thankyou for sharing-i have had a double mastectomy and reconstruction due to cancer. I now can't use any bra with boning, so am exploring making my own soft cup options ( and trust me, a two triangle bralette won't cut it). Very generous to share your skills.
So glad I found this video. All the inserts online are for A-D cup and I’m a DDD/F so none of those small ones work and the ones that come in the swimsuits are so tiny they just mis-shape me and make the suit look awkward.
I so enjoyed this😁 and I appreciate the information too. I am inspired to make my own as my cup size is even bigger😑 Like most women bra fitting for me is very depressing to say the least. Shoulder straps don't stay up, even when adjusted🙄boobs popping out underneath, sometimes dropping out😮(embrassing) or popping out the top😩again (embarrassing). And so after buying 50h bras for years the one supplier I relied on only goes up to 42f😡that couldn't even cover a nipple(very handy). Anyway!! enough of the rant, thank you for your tutorial😍
This tutorial shows you how to make the bra cups... and this tutorial ruclips.net/video/Y0gCGYgHoAE/видео.html shows you how to add them to a tankini top... Hope this helps! Thanks for watching
Just discovered your you tube channel and am thrilled as I am about to attempt to make a swimsuit. I am a petite person, but “ top heavy” so can never get a swimsuit that fits well. I have a lovely pattern but, it is not lined, and I want to line it and put cups in. Is it easy to line a pattern that is not meant to be lined ?
I'm so happy you found me too! You have to finish edges on patterns, and using a lining is one way to do it. Keep me posted if you have specific questions about sewing the lining in!
I have looked EVERYWHERE to try to find a guide on how to make a custom-sized bra padding I decided everything in my size sold in stores is ugly and to full coverage, so I decided to make my own Little did I know, that patterns for a size 32i doesn't exist and I would have to come up with my own pattern from scratch
literally my issue now, my sister is a 42 i and im determined to get her a bra that fits, shes right now in a 48 DD and im like "that dont fit gurl no"
www.makebra.com/product/sew-comfy-bra-sewing-pattern/ i think i found a few here it states it has a 32 i i hope i helped you im hoping they have her size too
So sorry I didn't see your comment until now. Yes, there are different weights and stretch power mesh... Thank you for following along with me Thank you Sybelle for chiming in with some great information!
That's a great question. I did a search and found that cup size charts are tailored to picking the right cup size when you're buying or making a bra. I think the easiest thing to do would be to make a cup like the one I'm sharing here is to make it a generous size... .Then trim it to fit the bust you're sewing for. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching
Hi! How would you go about measuring your cup size without a mannequin? I'm a newbie to sewing, so I have no fancy tools, like the mannequin and the ruler, but I'd love to create my own bra, because I can't find any that fits my cup... It's large. European M is the largest I can go, and the straps slide off my shoulders from it being so large and made for broader and taller women, (apparently?) And the cups are so small the middle front part of the bra does not touch my chest. It's protruding through my blouses, which is pretty embarrassing. So I thought making my own bra would be key! I'd need to figure out how to put supportive wire in, too? I guess? But your video has given me the idea of how to create one! Thanks for that! ❤ So I would only need to know how do measure your own cupsize without a mannequin. (I wouldn't want to use a pin and measuring tape on my bosom 😂 measuring tape is fine)
:) You can definitely (carefully) shape the cup on your body. Follow the steps I share on the dressform...on yourself while you're wearing a supportive bra. Unfortunately, my "expertise" in bra making is really limited to copying my ready to wear sports bra. Thanks for watching! Good Luck!
I'm in the process of rebranding my patterns & I will be extending my sizes. Having said that, all of my Easy Fit & Sew knit tops are designed to fit curvy girls... I'm a G-Cup and I have not needed to do an FBA. (These patterns include the Tee Twin Set, Tank Top Two Ways, Raglan Sleeve Top) My Perfectly Fitted Shirt has A-DD Cup Sizes. I plan on extending the cup sizing on this pattern. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching
Hi Marti… sorry for the delayed response… that measurement is specific to my shape… you can find yours be measuring from the middle of your shoulder to your apex
I’m working with my DittoForm DittoForm.com This form is made from high density foam based on a body scan. You can check her website for information on how to get your scan. Alternatively you can create your own DIY form. Here’s a link to a video tutorial ruclips.net/video/InbGVy68jHw/видео.html

Hi Elisa, Thank you for checking in... it may be easier to start with pattern pieces. (sadly I'm not a bra making expert) Here's a link to some great bra pattern companies... thelingeriedirectory.ca/listing-category/lingerie-patterns/
You didn't show us how to draw the bra cup on the front top pattern. Do you have instructions how to draft the bra cup from the beginning. You just show us starting with the finished cup pattern, I want to know how to draft the braw acording to my measurements. Drafting is how to measure and draw the pattern acording to your measurement on to the paper.
Hi Sigrid, I used the center front and middle bra cup pieces from my DIY Sports bra pattern. I took apart one of my sports bras to make this pattern. Sadly, I'm not a bra drafting expert (There's a lot that goes into making bra patterns & I don't have enough experience to show you how to do that.) I was able to make these bra cups because my sports bra fit really well. If you'd like to look at my process there, please check out Clone Your Favorite Sports Bra Part 1 ruclips.net/video/U4V7I84kj0k/видео.html
Hi Marti, I added inches back in to the foundation that the cups are sewn to (under the bathing suit) because the top edge of the foundation needs to be similar to the width of the bathing suit so they sew together. ... Does that help?
Thank you for this. I am a 44 G or when I went to visit a lady who i bought a bra making course from she has only cup sizes up to DDD. she measured me and said I am 46G and she gave me a 50DDD pattern to do the course with. then my left cup too big and then she told me I have to make the back 2cm shorter as it it too big after I had an operation and I lost a few kilograms. I bought the 46DDD pattern and made a bra for me. now the left cup perfect but the right cup totally too small. I am so unhappy as I dont know how to fix the problem. the other day I measured myself again and now the calculator show me as 42GG. no 1 everywhere i read a DDD is actually a F and not a G size like the woman taught me. I wanted to start my own business, but i am taught wrongly I will not make a success with wrong information I received. my left breast is basically a size bigger than my left breast
Bra fitting is complicated. My daughter has the same problem. I took her shopping and had better luck with the higher quality bras. I'm not a bra making "expert"... There is so much to it, I don't have the bandwidth to learn everything I need to learn to teach full blown bra making. I did have fun making custom bra cups and "cloning" my favorite sports bra. Here's a link to part 1 of that if you want to check it out! ruclips.net/video/U4V7I84kj0k/видео.html Thanks for watching
I'm so sorry that I'm not a pro bra maker... This tutorial is a simple way to make foam cups for a bathing suit for "no show through" ...I search YT, there are a lot of bra making tutorials that might help you...
I don't get it - you did a whole tutorial, just to NOT show the actual process of sewing it, in order to arrive at the final sewed cup you actually made from said tutorial?
My 81 year old breasts, size C, hang down. Every bra I’ve tried fits the bottom of my breasts (the hanging down part), but do not fit the top of my breasts, as there is no fat there;; I weigh 91#.. I’m wearing an old bra I’ve added some foam pads to, which has helped, but the top of the bra is empty, so I need to add some pads there to fill in the vacancies. I do sew, so I can fix this problem , just don’t know how to. Could you possibly point me in the right direction or recommend a bra, or SOMETHING that’ could solve my problem. I do appreciate any input at all, from anyone. Thanks, Pat.
Hi Pat,,, first, I want to apologize for the delayed response. I'm not a bra making expert... so I did a quick search and found this blog post that addresses bra making and breast shape. I think it would be helpful! www.lilypadesigns.com/consider-bra-making
I’ve been needing this video for so long! I’m a size G in bra cup but I’m small everywhere so custom cups have been a must!

Also, are there varying degrees of power mesh? As a H cup - I need SUPPORT. I have some power mesh but I am now thinking it should be "stronger".
I do believe there are. They go by weight-200 to 300g per square meter, with the heavier powermesh(or powernet) best suitable for the larger cups.
So sorry I didn't see your comment until now. Yes, there are different weights and stretch power mesh... Thank you for following along with me Thank you Sybelle for chiming in with some great information!
How do I create a cup for any size cup? Is there an universal chart for different size cups to use for making cups from scratch?
