+essennagerry I'm tempted to change my name to Dat Butt just to fit in here. Dan Bull, Dan Bull, Dan Dutt, Dat Butt, Dun DunDun. Hey I just wrote 100% of the lyrics for the next corporate chart topper.
No, he was only showing the important stuff, like headphones, monitors, computer, etc. It just so happens that his basic equipment is very high quality. Food is a basic that we need to survive, but you can have nice food. His Shure SM7B mic is a basic for music production, but it's a very good mic.
Omg Andrew u have changed my life in music forever I want to be like you when I grow up you are an inspiration to me and I watch all your videos and I have subscribed to you just never stop doing what you do best Andrew !!just thank you!!
Ethan Sammons because youtube is used by mostly gamers who search walkthroughs, cheats and pewdiepie videos. i got to this channel by searching for "Music made without instruments"
I remember watching this and thinking it was the coolest setup. It’s crazy how times change. Andrew you’ve been doing big things for a long time. I’m happy for you 💜 🌹 you deserve it. Such a talented person!
thechucknorrisofNSMB you can only record audio in audacity and audacity is hands down the worst audio recorder so I would pirate a daw or find a cracked one
I actually recorded full songs in Audacity back in the day... of course they were nothing more than me singing over looping 5- or 10-second clips recorded from an external mic, and they were terrible xD
such a nice video. can you do example and explanation for the direct recording environment. So you little blanket cabin vs just recording in the middle of the room. And maybe give some alternitives for different budgets. =) That would be awesome
A) the new styled layout/colours in the videos look so refined and smart, really liking that quite a bit. B) It's actually so refreshing to see how the spaces all have their own areas in the place, like they all can be used for different things but you still enjoy having the main space for production. C) Thankyou for doing this!
3:36 Random opinion: From personal experience, wireless headphones have a little latency when recording or monitoring which can make music production really hard
Thanks for answering my DAW question! I recently used Ableton Live for a college assignment, where I played some of my music live using the loop view, and a mini launchpad!
I spend a lot of my day in an open office and on the phone, and while it's probably not great for music production, I've found that having egg carton foam covered with burlap on the wall beside me and on freestanding divider to cover two other sides helps with the noise control.
I love the way you explain everything you do in such detail, whether it's in this video or how you've created a song. It's really cool to understand how you do things and it gives people a chance if they want to try too.
Actually good gear is kinda like a magic wand. It helps make things better and achieve your goals easier. But you still need to go to Hogwarts and study your craft, read through your text books and do your homework, and do some extra self reading/study and practice. It took Harry a good portion of one book to master the expectopotronum thingy and thats one of the many many things you can do with a wand.
Dangggg Andrew you levelled up! Your place looks incredible! I remember you talking about wanting to move out due to a lack of space, awesome to see you get such a great place :)
Concerning limitations: Have you ever heard about OSC (One Synth Challenge) on KVR audio? It's a contest where you have to compose a whole song with only one free VST synth (and free effects). It's amazing what some people can achieve with only the most basic equipment.
Great creative space.. I'm really contemplating about moving my recording studio and film gear to a commercial space as well. Thanks for sharing Andrew.
I think that you're pretty awesome man , the fact that you can make your music so smoothly, you make it look so easy. It inspires me in a good way and I've just met your videos today so, good job, keep the hard work, you won a loyal sub haha. Saludos from Chile, the country at the end of the world haha
CAN you please make music with pencils???? If you put two pencils together and roll them it could be a good shaker. And just doing creative things you could so do this!
Hi Andrew! Love what you do! I'd say look more into acoustics and treatment, it's worth it! Your panels would make a bigger difference at the first reflexion points of the room. For Bass frequencys, even combined with the rug, they do almost nothing. Passive solutions like basstraps, Helmholtz- and plate absorbers will make your room sound more linear. You said in the video that the least amount of reflexion is preferrable. This is not perfectly true, as the human perception isn't used to a completely dry sounding room. There are different standard's out there like RT60 but for a rule of thump, just don't make a room dead. HMU if you have questions
Bit late, but probably because they care much more about the big names that make them money (that arguably produce awful content) like the Paul Brothers for example..
For your affordability episode, I'm looking forward to your usb audio interface suggestions. Zoom H series are fantastic, getting them second hand on the cheap is difficult as they're so sought after.
your Huang Mobile Style is the same as mine. When I was younger that was the only way to isolate a mic in my loud house with 8 family members! I still do it from time to time when I'm doing some mobile recording. People scoff at it until they hear the results.
I know this is probably taking you way out of your comfort zone, but in the video you mentioned you're working, making music with limited resources, it would be really cool if you used GarageBand, 'cause it's something really basic but that it's easier to access than ableton (USD 99+ vs 5 bucks)
I would like to see a Tannoy review. 🤔 Im thinking on getting ones as my secondary monitors. Maybe the 5 inch ones. My primary’s are the PreSonus Eris E8.
Hi Andrew! I love your videos and you have helped me really enjoy learning about music. Thank you for being on youtube and being so awesome! PS. Nice studio.
Hey Andrew! Can you do our own rendition of Lazy Town's "We are number one"? I know its kind of gimicky and all. But I"d like to see your version! I even saw a video where a guy just used kazoos!
Ableton really shines in the session view and automation, as well as samplings, but I think other softwares have started competing with the other unique stuff Ableton has.
Plus, ABLETON Live is simply the BEST DAW out!! Hands down!! It’s worth every single penny! And once you get use to Abletons already simple workflow, the workflow becomes as smooth as butter LoL.. . . Seriously though!!!!
Are there any instruments or pieces of equipment that are nostalgic for you from your early beginnings (STWPT)? Something that really inspired you to get started?
6:00 With me, im different. I like having color but it changes with what im making (so i keep RGB LEDs behind my monitor). if im making light stuff, i have my LEDs set to Cyan or something, but if im making like DnB theyre red. just thought id put that out there.
Well, limited equipment was a big problem for me when I started producing: Just native plugins and too much to learn... but I made it, and I'm still only using internal FL Studio Plugins, and I'm able to make any sound I want, cause a Software (and a synth) is only as good as the one, who's using it :D
Thanks Andrew~ ! Really appreciate you sharing from your experience. My question is how do you manage releasing so much material? - What would you recommend to somebody who is also working on getting an undergraduate degree?
Great video! So jealous of your apartment and home studio. I'm just starting to build my own studio set up and I think that a problem i may bump into is background noise. Would you prefer a dynamic mic like Shure SM 7B instead of a condenser mic like Aston Origin?
+Andrew Huang, I'm not sure if it was my post on another video where I asked this very question! If it was great and THANK YOU for making this video! It is exactly what I wanted to see!
For what is essentially a vlog, this has the production values of a god damn movie
Dan Bull I know right!?
Dan Bull it's like a documentary
Dan Bull Dan Bull, Dan Dutt and Dun DunDun. What's happening here? o.o
mind blownn...
+essennagerry I'm tempted to change my name to Dat Butt just to fit in here. Dan Bull, Dan Bull, Dan Dutt, Dat Butt, Dun DunDun. Hey I just wrote 100% of the lyrics for the next corporate chart topper.
Your studio literally looks like if Ableton were IRL
Dan Waterhouse why does this not make sense but it does
What
The more years go by the more your comment makes sense, Ableton as a company & its power users seem to have a very specific aesthetic
"just the basics"
*shows super fancy everything*
yep.
No, he was only showing the important stuff, like headphones, monitors, computer, etc. It just so happens that his basic equipment is very high quality. Food is a basic that we need to survive, but you can have nice food. His Shure SM7B mic is a basic for music production, but it's a very good mic.
He's defs flexing on us :'D
1:46 **Subtly mentions he's married**
Ali161102 he's mentioned her in a previous video.
Wait what?
Ali161102 is his wife part of his studio?
Le Trollface He said, "My wife, Essa"
she's also appeared in a few videos of his over the last couple of years.
Omg Andrew u have changed my life in music forever I want to be like you when I grow up you are an inspiration to me and I watch all your videos and I have subscribed to you just never stop doing what you do best Andrew !!just thank you!!
The Blue Pac-man ! Pink fluffy unicorns, dancing on rainbows...
On this episode of Cribs...
(Serious question, ever deal with annoyed neighbours?)
Sup sammy g. Were you even popular when you wrote this?
I can't believe you haven't gotten at least 5 million subscribers...
Ethan Sammons ikr
Ethan Sammons I cant believe...
he's not _butter_
someday he will have 5 million
Ethan Sammons because youtube is used by mostly gamers who search walkthroughs, cheats and pewdiepie videos. i got to this channel by searching for "Music made without instruments"
this has been posted too many times it goes without saying, now please just get people to subscribe instead
I remember watching this and thinking it was the coolest setup. It’s crazy how times change. Andrew you’ve been doing big things for a long time. I’m happy for you 💜 🌹 you deserve it. Such a talented person!
It'd be really cool to see how you might construct a song in Audacity.
You should check out Reaper. It's not _technically_ free but it has winrar syndrome.
Hah I've never heard anyone say WinRar syndrome but I love that I know what you meant haha
thechucknorrisofNSMB you can only record audio in audacity and audacity is hands down the worst audio recorder so I would pirate a daw or find a cracked one
thechucknorrisofNSMB everything in this comment thread is exactly what I was thinking when Andrew mentioned being on a budget. 10/10
I actually recorded full songs in Audacity back in the day...
of course they were nothing more than me singing over looping 5- or 10-second clips recorded from an external mic, and they were terrible xD
That levitating camera gets some good shots
such a nice video. can you do example and explanation for the direct recording environment. So you little blanket cabin vs just recording in the middle of the room. And maybe give some alternitives for different budgets. =) That would be awesome
Wait you're married what you can't drop a bomb like that what
I thought he was gay :/
Never assume.
A) the new styled layout/colours in the videos look so refined and smart, really liking that quite a bit. B) It's actually so refreshing to see how the spaces all have their own areas in the place, like they all can be used for different things but you still enjoy having the main space for production. Thanks for answering my DAW question! I recently used Ableton Live for a college assignment, where I played some of my music live using the loop view, and a mini launchpad!
Hi Andrew! First of all, I love your videos. I was wondering, how did you learn using Ableton? (or DAW's in general) Are you self-educated?
That moment when you find a flipping Idol in the comment section of Andrew's video.
How did you convince your wife to let you have full creative control over the decor of the apartment?
thinking the same, probably best wife ever
Andrew: "my wife also works over here..."
Me thinking Andrew was gay all these years: "wait.... WHAT"
bruh
You know how they say Freddie Mercury had a wife.
I spend a lot of my day in an open office and on the phone, and while it's probably not great for music production, I've found that having egg carton foam covered with burlap on the wall beside me and on freestanding divider to cover two other sides helps with the noise control.
When he says he went from 8 x10 to 9 x 10 xD and the floating camera was pretty dope too
Well my chances of getting with Andrew went from a 0.01% to a 0%.
I love the way you explain everything you do in such detail, whether it's in this video or how you've created a song. It's really cool to understand how you do things and it gives people a chance if they want to try too.
Awesome video Huang! Love seeing your setup and stuff, since music is one of my very favourite things.
Your just an all around inspiration!!! Thanks for all you do!!
Please do more with the OP-1, Andrew! Love your work x
That's a cozy place ya got there. Love your studio room too! Can't wait for the day when I can get a dedicated music room myself!
*HOLY CABLE MANAGEMENT BATMAN!*

peeping the op-1
where I can get a floating camera? and a wife too ?
From my basement
Silvain Nordseal OMG😂😂😂
MARV11N SHOW TIME the black market
Why do you need floating wife?
green screen??
Thank you so much! I love seeing other ppls set ups. Working on making mind optimal for easier work flow 👌👌💜💜
Thank you Andrew for being such an inspiration to my work 🙏 I appreciate it all.
Dangggg Andrew you levelled up! Your place looks incredible! I remember you talking about wanting to move out due to a lack of space, awesome to see you get such a great place :)
I would like to know: When did you get into Video Production and what Software and Hardware do you use to make your videos?
you make such quality videos such an underrated youtuber you deserve more subscribers for all you epic work
Concerning limitations: Have you ever heard about OSC (One Synth Challenge) on KVR audio? It's a contest where you have to compose a whole song with only one free VST synth (and free effects). It's amazing what some people can achieve with only the most basic equipment.
Love your loft and studio, you changed my way of feeling music, thanks for that
Great creative space.. I'm really contemplating about moving my recording studio and film gear to a commercial space as well. Thanks for sharing Andrew.
this is the firs youtube channel i've actually thought was cool. Andrew keep making videos i love your content
"Never let a lack of equipment stop you. But do level up when you can."
Damn, your office and home is so damn cool!
Omg you have a Boss ME-50 in your wall of gear!! I thought no one uses one anymore! It's my favorite little blue friend to my guitars.
I think that you're pretty awesome man , the fact that you can make your music so smoothly, you make it look so easy. It inspires me in a good way and I've just met your videos today so, good job, keep the hard work, you won a loyal sub haha.
Saludos from Chile, the country at the end of the world haha
Recording vocals with a blanket over your head?! THAT'S SO GENIUS AND I'M GONNA DO THAT RIGHT NOW, THANK YOU BASED HUANG
you've been making nothing but top shelf content for a while now, keep it up dude!
CAN you please make music with pencils???? If you put two pencils together and roll them it could be a good shaker. And just doing creative things you could so do this!
;)
Love what you do bro
What are the best household items to imitate percussive instruments? Such as the empty, open shoebox for a kick or the quinoa box for a shaker?
Hi Andrew! Love what you do! I'd say look more into acoustics and treatment, it's worth it! Your panels would make a bigger difference at the first reflexion points of the room. beautiful place to work at, like this empty / non-distracting approach concerning the room
Lets have a closer look at your booth, what blanket are you using, how you hang it without it being obtrusive, etc.
I love your place man. so clean and spacious!
Wife?
He posted a picture on instagram a while ago saying "wife and wine"
yeah, a year or two ago "a while ago". XD
JustSpencer he also mentioned her in the making of slow down
Wife!
Ed R "wife"
Thats actually a SUPER awesome style of house to live in. Loving it man!
RUclips hid Andrew from me for the longest time. Why does it keep hiding the best stuff?!!!
Bit late, but probably because they care much more about the big names that make them money (that arguably produce awful content) like the Paul Brothers for example..
I KNOW i wish I discovered you earlier
Tour and equipment videos are the best. I hope you make more in the future.
For your affordability episode, I'm looking forward to your usb audio interface suggestions. Zoom H series are fantastic, getting them second hand on the cheap is difficult as they're so sought after.
I only just found your channel and now i'm binge watching! Such great information!
your Huang Mobile Style is the same as mine. When I was younger that was the only way to isolate a mic in my loud house with 8 family members! I still do it from time to time when I'm doing some mobile recording. People scoff at it until they hear the results.
We have the same Universal Audio interface. Love it!
Your home is so cool and spacey, I love it!
I know this is probably taking you way out of your comfort zone, but in the video you mentioned you're working, making music with limited resources, it would be really cool if you used GarageBand, 'cause it's something really basic but that it's easier to access than ableton (USD 99+ vs 5 bucks)
Hi Andrew! Great looking space! Keep being awesome!
Thanks Huongy. Looking forward to those next videos 😁
Possibly i'd like to know more details about your instruments. Like your synths and stuff alongside your teenage engineering thing.
I would like to see a Tannoy review. 🤔
Im thinking on getting ones as my secondary monitors. Maybe the 5 inch ones.
My primary’s are the PreSonus Eris E8.
Please share a video on how you make all of these videos and the equipment you use to create them! And perhaps the process
1:49 is that a Korg Electribe EMX-1? giving me that nostalgia
6:46 I like how he ask the guy who makes music with literally everything
You are my kind of guy!! U earn my sub!!
Hey Andrew! Awesome studio!! :O Love your music... You're so talented!! ❤️
Hi Andrew! I love your videos and you have helped me really enjoy learning about music. Thank you for being on youtube and being so awesome! PS. Nice studio.
Welcome to my new studio! *I've been here for 6 months*
Dude your house is soooo freakin awesome ! i love it
First! I love your channel Andrew!
I like your acoustic tiles!
Your loft is amazing!
A video about low budget equipment could help us out a lot! Thank you so much!
This is so cool and interesting, idk why u don't have more subscribers
Shivani Annumala check out his music, then you will think he needs more subs 10000000000% more.
I have!!! its amazing
ikr
Plus, ABLETON Live is simply the BEST DAW out!! Hands down!! It’s worth every single penny! And once you get use to Abletons already simple workflow, the workflow becomes as smooth as butter LoL.. . . Seriously though!!!!
I just love it, it's my mothership.
thanks again for the awesome work you do!

Today is my birthday!! love your music all the time😊
Emily Stockand hbd ! 🎂
very insightful! thanks for the peek into your professional and home life. keep rocking it!
I can't think of a relevant comment I just wanted to say hi and hope you had a good day today
Thanks Andrew~ ! Really appreciate you sharing from your experience.
My question is how do you manage releasing so much material? - What would you recommend to somebody who is also working on getting an undergraduate degree?
you're the man! place looks sickkkkkk
Can you do an Ableton Live tutorial? Maybe the one on your laptop or the launchpad drum thingy
DJ Paperclip the Ableton Push
Loved the little 'level up' concept.
You're studio is wicked! I'd kill for this
Ableton is my main DAW because A) It's organized, and gives a lot of freedom to the user B) Novation. That's all i have to say about that.
Loved this video Andrew! So nice to learn more about you as a person. Also, didn't know you were married! Congrats! Your wife is very lucky
Really love the studio!
