It was just a game… Just a Kingdom. High and Mighty for it’s age, but just a Kingdom all the same. Brick and mortar… Flesh.. and Blood. Countless have risen since that time. Some grander, some paltry. Some Ruler’s magnanimous, others with a penchant for unspeakable violence. Yet others still who were simply mad. Born or driven to it, it matters little. In all these kingdoms, there was suffering. Pain. Pleasure. Ecstasy, Loathing. Life, Love, and Death. All bundled neatly behind guarded walls and watchful Gods. Each more depraved than the last. Yet still, lingering marks of the first persist. Never the same, but always recognizable. Like a map drawn again from words alone. Then again, and again… and again. Then comes the end. Every kingdom and every land eventually has their light burn out. Given time… all things fade and flicker. Then come the accursed. Ones such as yourself. People, with a penchant for stubbornness. A knack for cheating death. They come. Legions of undead drawn to the embers of a burned out land. Some searching for meaning, others duty, and still more come without really knowing why. Raised from the grave, locked in prisons, drawn like moths to flame. Soldiering on through death and betrayal. Some desperately seeking to kindle the pile of ash they find themselves in. Other more dreary ones seeking to usurp the old thrones. To continue an age of darkness. An age of Man. It matters little, for there is always a new flame. New walls rise from the ruins of the old, and the wheel turns again. Like a clock being wound for the first time in years. No matter. You will do as you wish. As others have before you. As others will again. The king of this land, and all the lands before, are all the same. They speak of duty and honor, fire and war, protection… and love. However. Always remember there was a time when to them as well, it was just a kingdom to them. A land to conquer. A fire to light. A game. To Play.
This feels like Gwyn's descension into Hollowing, instead of the repetitive and nostalgia-induced theme that plays when he is already a full Hollow, which is amazing.
If you thing about it, Gwyn's sacrifice is the start of all the bad things that happen in the series, but at the same time, to sacrifice ones self trying to make the right thing (even if in the end it was the worst thing he could do) is really human, maybe thats why thing go south after that, a god tried to be human and in doing so he broke the cycle
After a gruesome and perilous journey, the Chosen Undead finally reached the end of the Kiln. Once in there, he found Lord Gwyn sitting down right next to a bonfire. The final bonfire you had to light in order to keep the world going. But as he kept advancing he found that the once mighty god of Thunder and Lord of Cinder was nothing but a mere husk of his grandiose former self. The hollowed Lord didn't even need to turn around. He knew why he was there. - "Welcome, Chosen One. I've been expecting you" -he said with the last ounces of sanity he had left. The Chosen Undead at first froze right then and there when he heard him talk. He hesitated before giving another step closer. Gwyn, as if he knew that his words startled the champion, reassured him that he only wished to talk "before he decides what to do next". And so, the Chosen Undead stepped close to the bonfire and sat down alongside Gwyn. And they just... talked. They talked about everything that has transpired up to this point: the ending of the Age of Fire, the Pygmies, Kaathe, Frampt... and what will happen with the Flame. The world had to continue, it has to be this way. The Chosen One couldn't allow for everything to be in vain. After hearing those words, Gwyn felt his sanity finally about to give up. And so, he and the Chosen Undead rose up. "Very well, my child. Then if this is your decision, then let us end this farce once and for all. But know this: whatever happens here today, it will not be end. Whether it is this world... our ourselves"
This song feels like its playing over the moment gwyn sacrificed himself to the flame in slowmotion i can imagine him putting his hand over it and the flames enveloping him almost smothering him until each ember lets go and nothing of life is left of him exept his will to protect the flame from the abyss surging his body forward to face us
This is beautiful. Love the vocals so much. Someone’s already said it, but it does feel like Gwyn’s descent into hollowing as he uses himself to fuel the fire. Wonderful composition
The Lord of Sunlight, conqueror, saviour, sovereign, deity... coward and sinner. Wherever the light shines the brightest there is an equal dark, no matter how small and recluse, nestling in the shadow cast. This great champion of Gods, ruler of his age, harboured a deep cowardice and fear that none could even begin to fathom. His greatness is eclipsed by the depravity of his sin, of the unbound nightmare in which he plunged the world into. It was he who shackled man, binding their humanity with a ring of flame and giving them the curse of undeath, and hollowing. It was he who linked the first flame, in a desperate urge to stave off the natural coming of the Age of Dark and hold onto his fading kingdom of light. All the events of horror and stagnant tragedy within the timelines can be linked directly back to Gwyn's First Sin. But here, we can listen to what he was once. A champion, and a true Lord of Sunlight. We can hear the glory, on the very precipice of madness.
Beautiful, I can't explain why, but this hits me in the feels in a way nothing has before. I became apathetic nearly half my life ago and it's nice being able to feel a sort of sadness again.
I have to admit, I stumbled onto this by pure coincidence, which turned out to be a delightful surprise. ....Melancholy with a dash of epicness. Praise the dying sun!
@@SolasComposer Thank you, dear artist. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. PS. Just look out for those mushroom men if you want to travel to Oolacile via a portal. They can punch with the ferocity of Manus. I swear I heard someone say that they shattered the ring in the lands between...and my left arm.
I don't think any music had delivered this misery so well. This dwelling, longing, hints of a golden age long passed. I think you do very well with dramatic stuff, especially music that brings the tearing to their knees.
He was once a little man in chains who got a chance to challenge the dragons and win...He was once a monarch whose ambitions allowed him to build a great kingdom...He was once a god whose pride and fear created a world full of despair, pain and death...He was once a soulless corpse that served as a reminder that his sacrifice was in vain... But now...He is just a handful of ashes and a fragment of a soul, among hundreds, if not thousands of heroes who tried to correct or stop this vicious cycle And really...this is a story about how any of us can fall victim to our dark side and make a mistake that will not be corrected later Thank you for such a magnificent and soulful composition!
Gwyn's title of "lord of cinder" is a mockery from the game, he used to be the lord of sunlight, ruler of a great kingdom, but now only the ashes remain and hence why you see that title when you fight him. I don't think it's correct to give him both titles like in the title of the video.
Congratulations, I'm in love with your music art and quality. There's a lot of sources out there but your song gives the correct and precise amount and varieties that I need. I would like to ask your formal permission to use those songs for my TTRPG scenes. It's only between friends and for sure you'll be credited.
I will say it again, amazing work, outstanding. Most of your songs are from things I don't really know (As well as the images) but I still love them regardless! What are they from? Dark souls, or am I mistaken?
Definitely lots Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring ect.. often they are references in name with art that I find looks like Fromsoftware concepts but I use Shutterstock art because it's a cheap alternative. In this specific case I have permission from MiffedMisted on Deviantart to use any of his art, has a lot of good Fromsoftware art. 🧡
@@SolasComposer Thanks! Was just curious, I haven't played any of the dark souls, blood born, Elden ring games. I enjoy the soundtracks from them though, and listening to your pieces inspired/from them is very nice! Keep up the great work as always!
@@fireofdreams5633 If I am being honest. I haven't actually played any of them either. Very fitting to Dark Souls and how the gods would try and unnaturally prolong their age before the age of man. Which is indeed what caused all of the games corruption.

Very beautifully written, this sums up the Dark Souls story nicely, and well human history itself too 🧡.
Beautiful, just like this Game that we cherish so much
My dearest compliments, Fellow Undead.
This feels like Gwyn's descension into Hollowing, instead of the repetitive and nostalgia-induced theme that plays when he is already a full Hollow, which is amazing.
Thank you so much, always worrying about being inadequate with my representations. 🧡 This is encouraging.
Lord Gwyn deserved this fate, but his children didn’t.

I like that take, it does make sense. He was doing what he thought was best to preserve his kin and family after all.

Gwyn's mighty Depression.
“Pling Pling Plong”
This feels more like a remembrance of Gwyn. A testament to his greatness.
I agree it definitely fits that kind of vibe.

this captures the sad and somber feeling of the once great and mighty lord gwen who became a shadow of what he once was.

my pleasure, I don't remember why I named it like that, I think because Ds2 was my first ever souls and Alonne was so cool relatively lol.
