  • Solo Camping on the Snowy River in this Unforgettable location will be one solo trip i will always remember.
This solo camping location is as good as it gets. Stunning views over the Snowy River.
On the drive into the Snow River National Park, i stopped at Little River Falls. It's only a short walk into the waterfalls, and well worth going in for a look.
Leaving the Little River Waterfalls, i continue into the Snowy River National Park to find a camping spot on the Snowy River.
I have to say, where i have set up my solo river camping spot over looking the mighty Snowy River is simply one of the best river camping locations i have ever found.
It was such a relaxing camping spot with the sounds of the bush and the Snowy River just below me to pass my time.
I even tried my luck fishing in the Snowy River. No luck this time.
The Snowy River is such an iconic mountain river system that flows through two States in Australia. Eventually running out into Bass Strait on the coast near Orbost.
Packing up camp from this beautiful location was hard to do. But, i now had a bucket list location to visit and explore the history that surrounds McKillops Bridge.
I have been wanting to visit McKillops bridge for many years.
Driving across the bridge for the first time as the Snowy River flows underneath, was an amazing moment.
The history that is attached to McKillops bridge is very interesting. The original bridge was swept away from a massive flood in January of 1934. The second bridge was built, which is what you can see today.
Solo river camping beside the Snowy River and seeing McKillops Bridge, will have lasting memory's for a long time.
I will be back for sure.

Mate, what a trip. I did that trip a long time ago now and can’t wait to take the kids up to show them. Just wondering though, would those tracks be suitable for a camper trailer? It looked ok. Like a highway in some spots. Keep up the great work mate. Loving it.

      Gday Steve ,
It’s a great spot mate, I hope you can make a return visit with your family soon.
As far as taking a camper trailer down.
The drive after the waterfalls to the bridge is a long way.
It’s sign posted not suitable for caravans.
The road is very narrow for long sections, if you came across a vehicle coming the other way. It would be a mission getting past. It’s a one vehicle track with steep drop offs.
      Totally up to you mate.
But, you will need to be good at reversing a trailer if someone comes along on a narrow dirt road.
      Hope that helps mate.
      Cheers Tim.

      G'day Greg,
The road not long after i left the waterfalls is sign posted not suitable for caravans.
Not hard to see why when you drive it.
For about 20ks, the road is a one vehicle track, with very limited opportunities to pass if another vehicle comes the other way. A lot of reversing would be going on if another vehicle comes the other way.
There's a lot of tight blind corners, that you need to be careful on.
Depending what time of year you plan to go.
But, to drive that road during the busy holiday times, yeah it would be pretty full on.
Nothing to be scared about driving it, just be super careful on some of the tight sections.
      Hope that helps mate.
      Cheers Tim.

Suspension being changed soon i hope.

Oh!! My home country! Thanks for such a wonderful video. Suddenly in my dotage I've been planning to take up camping. My first attempts will be on my cousin's property which is on the NSW side of the border (just). The thing that's bothering me are the wild dogs & pigs. Have you been hassled by them & what did you do? Adding a gun a good idea? We often see both dogs & pigs around on the river, so, am I being an old duck, am I being too worried? I don't fancy a big razorback rooting through my camp. If you want a nice remote camp in that area I'd recommend Merambego on the NSW side. It's not on the Snowy - basically you can't get through to the river - but it's lovely country with some great walking options.
