Just to clarify some things about the suit AKA=Venom. The reason why Venom is "boosting" Peter's aggressiveness is not because the symbiote is evil, but rather because Peter Himself was already planning in doing all that, so since Venom had no personality cause he got brainwashed and "sent to earth" He would go on to fully form his personality on his new host, and since Pete was so F-up at that time with the uncle Ben stuff, MJ, Losing his job, Possibly scarring his best friens for life, and above all, the pressure of being Spiderman the only characteristics the symbiote could get was Anger, Loneliness, BETRAYAL wich is the most important, since in the comics it's clearly stated that Venom not only loves, but is absolutely obsessed with Peter, hence why when he forcibly breaks their bond, and even then, in the comics instead of immediately bonding with Eddie the symbiote carries the fatigued Pete out of the clock tower and into a safe place, and cares for him until he wakes up, only for the Venom to realize that Pete would never bond with it again, now remember, at that time Pete was feeling extremely betrayed, so the symbiote could feel his pain, hence why when pet8 did the same to him , instead of protecting what he calls "Us"(him and his host) he developed a deep hatred for Pete, but even THEN if Pete just came out to Venom and downright just said:
I want you back or something like that just as it has been shown, Venom will abandon Eddie or any host and go back to him, that's how deep their connection is, and that's why Venom tries to be hero in the comics, because that's what Peter was, and that's what He must be, forever bound by his first host

I like how when Norman Osborne bonds with Carnage and becomes the Red Goblin, Pete realizes he needs Venom and bonds with it again (temporarily). When the situation literally gets too hot (heat is the symbiote's other weakness), he tells the symbiote to go, showing that he does care for it.

I would've loved to see Campbell as a villain in that franchise... Damn, it's so sad we never got a fourth movie. I still find myself thinking about how great it would have been to see Connors finally turning into the Lizard, for example. He was introduced fairly early, not the greatest buildup or anything but just the fact that the character had been there for what would have then been 2 full movies before then turning into a villain... just imagine how satisfying that would have been... 12:33 that’s Bruce Cambell. Sam Raimi, the director of this Spider-Man trilogy, also directed the Evil Dead movies and Bruce Cambell played the main character of that franchise, Ash Williams. Sam put Bruce in here as a recurring cameo. But some have theorized that his cameo is supposed to be him secretly playing the Villain Mysterio. In fact, Sam’s plan for Spider-Man 4 was a montage of Spider-Man catching his many villains and among them, a scene where Bruce Cambell is revealed to be Mysterio.

The French guy with the moustache, as well as the theatre guy in the previous movie and the wrestling announcer in the first one, is played by Bruce Campbell, the guy who played Ash in the Evil Dead movies directed by Sam Raimi. He has a cameo in every Raimi movie basically, even Doctor Strange 2, he's the guy who punched himself. People like to theorise that he wasn't just a recurrent joke, that he was observing Peter in different disguises and was supposed to be a set up for a future villain like Mysterio or something like that.

"The black suit is gotta be a metaphor for your ego or something"
That's kinda interesting, because in the comic books, Venom was initially created as a way to portray substance abuse or mental health issues since they couldn't do that at the time, the company's policy on adult themes was really strict. They actually have a story line where Harry did drugs way back in the day, and they obviously have more freedom over that stuff nowadays, but there were a couple of decades where comic books basically transformed into exclusively kids' entertainment with PG rating. DC had it as well, where they had to make the Joker an actual clown with all the hose flowers and electric buzzers for like a couple of decades. They even had to explain that abrupt change later, after the policy was reevaluated, by making multiple Jokers in one comic book: the criminal boss, the goofy clown, and the psycho serial killer, at least those three. Cesar Romero's live action version was the goofy one, for example. But I'm getting sidetracked, the point is, Venom in MARVEL is supposed to represent the bad personal matters, just like mutant haters were supposed to represent racism or homophobia and so on. They kinda did Peter-2 dirty in this movie with the cringe behaviour. Some people say it's reasonable since Peter-2 is a goofy ahh guy and doesn't exactly know what being cool is supposed to look like, but he shouldn't feel the need to be cool. He should feel all the chaotic bad emotions like rage, jealousy, hatred, and so on. If the studio didn't push all the story lines into this movie and focused on less of them for a longer time, it would be more powerful. That's actually what I wanna see Peter-1 go through. I mean, I don't _want_ want him to go through that, I like him, but it would be such a representative story arc. They could possibly top No Way Home by making live-action Spider-Verse with like Miles, Miguel, Ben, Gwen played by Emma Stone, who knows, they have a real-life infinite money glitch called Disney budget. But they could also make the next movie a really deep personal psychological study on Peter's emotions. He lost literally everything. His family is dead, all of his father figures are either dead or brainwashed so they don't know him, etc. etc. His origin story is finally completed after like 6 movies, now he is at the same stage in life as others were, he lives in a shitty apartment with no money, no fancy tech (apparently even Karen, Friday, and Edith forgor him so he can't use Tony's stuff), no friends, nothing. That would be a depression-themed movie waiting to happen already, but they actually teased the symbiote in the post-credits scene. It's a good thing that the Tom Hardy Venom isn't joining, since you gotta have a battle inside Peter-1 (in both the physical sense and the psychological sense) before having an external battle for the best metaphor. Obviously, there can be some hype later, like Tony Ravioli turning into Agent Venom or something, since they're setting him up in the MCU with the family stuff, but there has to be a really depressing intrusive thoughts storyline in there first. If Peter gets infected and actually becomes some sort of school shooter material (ok maybe not that far, but you see what I mean), then manages to fight that hard enough for Venom to escape and find a new host, making him battle a more "traditional" supervillain guy who knows exactly which buttons to push, that would be a really good movie. They were setting up Mac Gargan played by Vaas, which btw is an amazing casting choice for a truly frightening psycho murderer, so maybe Scorpion will somehow harm Peter-1 or his past life, and the already unhinged Parker would lose it, or something like that. In the comic books, Spider-Man literally murders Gargan by tearing off his jaw with a single punch (technically, it was Octavius in his body accidentally underestimating its strength, but whatever). I don't want Peter-1 to become an actual murderer, but he already had bad thoughts in NWH when he almost killed Norman. Maybe he stops at the last possible moment, like Peter-2 did when he hurt MJ, maybe goes even further like actively trying to harm or kill someone, and realises that's not really him acting that way, getting rid of Venom for good. That would be a really powerful message, MARVEL has already been known for doing stuff like that even as a throwaway joke, like with Thor suffering from PTSD and stuff but still being a good person worthy of holding Jonathan. Who knows, man, maybe I'm overthinking it and they'll just have a really epic crossover like NWH, which I'm absolutely gonna take, but I'd really like them to make at least one movie (maybe a longer arc) about that sort of horrible personal stuff. Spider-Man is all about that message, and the MCU is sometimes as well, so who knows.

  • @ieyke
    @ieyke 2 года назад +7

This is the correct/GOOD origin of Venom* - A Space Shuttle crashes, Spidey goes to rescue the astronauts, an alien symbiote has hitchhiked on the shuttle and latches onto Spidey.
(Here it's all reduced to a meteor that far too conveniently lands at Spidey's feet.)
Spidey doesn't realize what the suit is at first, and revels in the vast extra power it grants him.
Peter Parker exposes fellow reporter Eddie Brock as a fraud, which gets him fired.
The Alien Costume feeds on and amplifies aggression in its host, so it makes Peter an asshole.
When Spidey figures out that the suit is alive and what it's doing to him, he gets rid of it in the clock tower, using the powerful sonic waves of the bell (the symbiote is weak to sonic attacks). The symbiote gains a venomous hate for Spider-Man - the host that abandoned it.
The suit drips down and latches onto Eddie Brpck.
Brock's own venomous hatred for Peter Parker fuels the symbiote, and together they become Venom.
Venom's giant white spider logo and spider powers are all copied from the symbiote's time bonding with Spider-Man, so Venom has almost all of Spidey's powers (except the Spidersense), but stronger.
Since the symbiote used to be bonded to his body, Spider-Man's body no longer recognizes the symbiote as a threat, which means that Venom doesn't set off his Spidersenses.
Also, since the symbiote was bonded with Peter, it knows that Peter IS Spider-Man, which means Eddie knows Peter is Spider-Man.
    It makes Venom EXTREMELY dangerous.
His only real weaknesses are powerful (loud) sonic waves and fire.
Luckily, Venom eventually ends up as more of an anti-hero than a villain. Eddie Brock is more just an angry asshole than he is evil, and the symbiote itself is more just insane and hungry than evil, so eventually they sort of get it under control.
    .
*Note that in the original comics the symbiote's origins are stupider. Spider-Man gets it out of what he thinks is a superhero costume vending machine during the Secret Wars on the Moon.
Secret Wars is kinda cool....but the symbiote origin is really dumb.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series created the better and more widely accepted modern origin for the Alien Costume, featuring Astronaut John Jameson(J. Jonah Jameson's son)'s Space Shuttle crashing.
(That's also why John Jameson is in this movie and almost marries MJ - it's a nod to his role as the astronaut that the symbiote hitches a ride with.)
Variations of the Space Shuttle origin are now pretty much accepted as THE main origin for Venom, and have been used here in Spider-Man 3 AND the Venom movie itself.

One of the reasons this movie is so hated, it's because the waiting factor.... Have in mind that between Spider-man 2 and Spider-man 3, there's a time lapse of three years. If you watch the three movies in a row, you can actually condone the flaws, but if you spent trhee long years waiting and building up the hype (specially if they tell you that Venom it's gonna be there) and ended up with this movie as it is, is comprensible that people gets upset and star throwing shit towards it. My opinion? Spider-man 3 isn't the best of the original trilogy, but is not a tragedy, as many people claim it is.... I do love how the sandman rebuilt itself the first time, and I apreciatte that Mary Jane has some character grown, and is not longer a simple tool so Spider-man can save her (even though he has to save her at the end).... But definettly hate this Venom....

I thought the main reason the movie is hated is because of all the crying.
I didn't care for the retcon of Sandman killing Uncle Ben. It reminded me of the Michael Keaton Batman where Joker is the guy who kills Bruce Wayne's parents. Too neatly tied together, and not corresponding to the comics, in a way that was totally unnecessary, and disrupted the immersion for me.
However, Sandman is otherwise very well written and acted here.

I also think it's a pretty good movie. However, there are three main reasons why I don't like it as much as the first two. One, I don't like the fact that Bernard knew all this time how Harry's dad died and never told him. He could have easily prevented a lot of the problems Harry and Peter faced by telling the truth earlier.
Two, the fact that there are three villains at once doesn't give all of them a lot of time to develop their characters. I think they should have focussed only on Sandman and Harry and kept Venom and the symbiote for another movie.
And three, Venom himself. Don't get me wrong, he's a scary villain and the effects on him are amazing. But I just think they chose the wrong actor to play the role of Eddy Brock. He's a bit too... wimpy and scrawny for my tastes. Also, as I said before, he didn't have nearly enough time to develop his character.

To be fair, never really understood the comments about how Venom is bad here, because he is supposed to be bulky, just like in the animated series (was it 80s or 90s? I loved it too). I hardly think that's what matters and makes Venom so cool.

    • @Shritistrang
      @Shritistrang 2 года назад

@@6Grimmjow It's just the version I'm most familiar with. Not just from the animated show, but also from the comics, video games and so on. I really do think Willem and Alfred were perfect for Goblin and Octopus.
Sandman is excellent in this. He should’ve been the heartbreaking villain of the movie. Maybe with the Harry parts too.

You made me like this movie more, honestly. I only just watched this film and there are a lot of things I didn’t care for. I think Flint’s character was written in there haphazardly and he’s way undercooked and the dialogue was weirdly paced in most places… but Harry’s transformation into the new goblin was sick, the choreography of the fights was awesome. And Bully Maguire is just too iconic I was dying over the cheese of his dance scenes. I’ve seen a few ppl say they don’t like Topher Grace as Brock but I don’t mind this interpretation actually. I think his look at venom is awesome if a little undersized. But the teeth and the eyebrows and everything. Anyway, enjoyable to see it thru your eyes.

At the time Sam Raimi was best known for his iconic horror film series, Evil Dead, back in the 80s in which Brice Cambell was the lead role in those films
