Tom's Flash is a different, modernized take on the character. If years ago a school bully has been portrayed as a tough and muscular gym guy, modern bullies are mostly rich spoiled kids who treat others like crap

@@Ninox32tgretwh But still, a concept of the word "bully" has mostly changed throughout the years, just like the word "nerd" changed from an offensive stereotypical book-worm to more of a mainstream geek that is obsessed with pop culture.
That's why Peter's personality has also changed. He's not only an awkward teen now, but a geek as well. He knows many references to pop-cultural films, he likes lego Star Wars, he's the one who brings up "Footloose" in Infinity War.
Sure, just like with bully, the old meaning of the word "nerd" did not disappear entirely, but became much less relevant to modern kids

I'm honestly surprised to hear there are people who dislike Tom Holland as Spider-man! Sure, he's bit more immature and uncertain at times, but that's just because we're witnessing him at the very beginning of his character journey. He hasn't even graduated high school yet! (something that happened midway through the very first Tobey Maguire film). Given where Peter's at in life, I think Tom's portrayal is really charming, believable, and pretty much perfect.

@@CrowTRobot For a very, very small amount of time. People massively overstate how much of a role the high school era played in mainline Peter's life. Ultimate Comics Peter yes, but not mainline Peter. 616 Peter was a lot more College-focused. A lot more confident and sure of himself. Which to be honest, no movie has nailed. Tobey was already too dorky, they based him off of Clark Kent in the Superman films more than 616 Peter. Andrew got close but then they had to do that whole parents are actually secret agents things (Which was in the comics, but it sucked there too!). Tom is, again, more like Miles than mainline Peter.

Tom Holland is definitely my favorite Spider-Man. I think he embodies the fact that Peter Parker is just a kid in the beginning and I love the scene in the film where he's trapped under all that rubble and he is genuinely scared. it's then I remembered that he still had a lot more growing to do and it humanized the character for me and brought me back to when I used to read the comics. I liked Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man back in the day but I realized watching that scene that I missed that aspect and Tom Holland brought it back for me with one scene.

Everyone just wants a villain that craves to rule the world and destroys entire cities in the process but we have enough Avengers threats for that.
Peter is still at the beginning in Homecoming, why would he have such a big threat to fight on his own? And besides, having a simple criminal that is involved with somebody he's close to is perfect for Spider-Man. He's just saving the neighborhood, not the world.

What I enjoy so much about this version of spiderman is that it´s the most different from the rest. It doesn´t follow the typical structure like the original or amazing spiderman. We don´t see him being bitten or the death of uncle Ben, I mean who could handle another version of that. Tom Holland is doing a great job, his acting is great and he is the right amount of cool and nerdy. Also having Peter a friend in form of Ned was the greatest decition they made, he is fantastic.

My favorite thing about this version of Spiderman is that no one is conveniently stupid about Peter Parker's real identity. The fact that Peter sucks at hiding his identity is actually a plot point instead of just a "Yeah, let's just say no one's wondering why Peter has the same voice as Spiderman, take pictures of him and always disappears".

Few things. Maybe it's just me, but Vulture flying in front of the moon gives me serious Keaton Batman vibes. Love that this iteration went with Ned and Liz over jumping straight into MJ and Harry. Academy Award winners Marisa Tomei & RDJ and Academy Award nominee Michael Keaton make an amazing supporting cast to a "fifteen-year-old" lead character. As someone who's been a comic book collector for more than three decades, I really have no freaking clue how anyone could see a hot gymnast teenager who can genuinely act playing the role of Peter Parker over a script that actually SOUNDS like Peter Parker and call anyone else the perfect Spider-Man; no one else comes close, and I genuinely adored the Maguire movies. Love love love all the comics nods: The Shocker, Aaron Davis and his nephew, Mac Gargan/Scorpion... and the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon theme. Oof! Right in the feels. Finally... dude. You crushing on every hot naked guy on screen is maybe one of the hottest things I've ever seen. You NEED to stop. You're killing me. 😅 Keep up the awesome reacts, man.

I love the way they redesigned the Vulture for the movie. The comic version is a total campy joke, just a guy with goofy bird wings for no reason. In this it makes sense how and why he has the wingsuit, and why he's called the Vulture. And Keaton's performance, chef kiss.

Not only is Tom Holland my favourite Spider-Man, but I think his suit is probably my favourite version too tbh:
    - the colours are so much brighter/ more vibrant (especially compared to the previous versions)
    - the adjustable eyeslits look so much better than the goggles (or whatever they're called) that Tobey & Andrew had
    - the web design is so much more subtle (the black webs on Tobey & Andrew's suits were too bulky & distracting imo tbh).
