Luke.. you are SO HAPPY and RELAXED looking (even with renovatin stress). Getting into your own house has really changed you and helped your mental health. It is SO lovely to see!
A tip.. I have just read on a Gardening FB site that you should spray garlic water around and on your Hosta. You should crush garlics in hot water, leave for 12-24hrs, strain, dilute with water and spray the Hosta. It seems Slugs don't like garlic. I will be trying this on my Hosta which are starting to get eatten at the moment. One women commented with a photo of hers beautiful Hosta where she used the garlic granules disolved (because she didn't have any fresh garlic). She said it worked great to.

I know that they plant onions between other vegetables to stop slugs eating but I had forgotten so reading this is very helpful to a woman with a brain injury and loss of long term memory

You treat yourselves to pizza and season 3 of Brigerton I really enjoyed I wasn’t a fan before either I watched but didn’t enjoy so was skeptical about watching more but it was ok. I like your new stripy lamp with the red cable think that would look nice on your piano.
Your garden is and house are looking lovely and you’ve not been there even a year.
      I like Hillary’s too very efficient. 😊

Hi Luke, to stop slugs munching your plants buy some COPPER TAPE, you'll need to stick it around your pot so it encircles the entire pot. Slugs don't like to cross it as it gives them a little "electric" shock, so they stop trying. Good eh 😉 Being copper, it looks quite attractive too, so you could put on all your pots to give them a coordinated look. Thanks for the update on your home, you and Zara are working really hard, well done 😊 x

Hi Luke. Love the red and pink lamp! As for the fire pit, can it be turned upside down when not in use so the rain runs off it? Also for the new ceiling lights, don’t remove the chain links, buy S hooks and hook the chain to the length you want. You can buy the S hooks in B&Q or other diy stores. House and garden looking great!

Hi Luke! Nice to see you're finally patching the walls in your living room. You were very smart to tape off the entrance to the dining room and cover the piano & couch to contain all the mess. Well done on that! Have you guys decided on a color for the walls yet? Great deal on the gardening bits to the plant pots and new plants you got as well. I love the look of Fox Gloves and the variety of colors they come in. Have a fab week ahead! Much love from Fort Worth, Texas! 😊☀️🏡

Hi Luke, loving the updates, your both doing so well with the house 👏👏.
FYI - we’ve had Hillary’s shutters installed 8-9 years ago and wouldn’t be without them, however at the time delivery/installation was not plain sailing (just a heads up that’s all). Also I’m so glad your plant wasn’t a Foxglove as I believe these can be poisonous to animals if eaten. I wanted one myself but we have a dog and an elderly cat so it’s a no go for us. Enjoy your lovely garden.

Can't wait to see the room completed, it's going to look amazing! You guys have tackled so much in such a short amount of time. For small lamps, you can always set them on stacked books for a little extra added height. For your outdoor fire pit, I'm sure they have covers like for grills that you can buy that may help instead of having to store it in the shed.

Hosta - instead of snail bait just take some eggshells, wash them out really well and then crush them up really good. Put the crushed shells around the base of the Hosta and this will keep the snails off. They can’t climb over it AND it’s good for the soil. Just keep an eye on it and replace as needed. I was able to save my hostas doing this ❤

Love the swatches for the office/piano room! The blue/teal is perfect ... soooooo glad you did not go with red!
Hate the little lamp! You have much prettier pieces!
A thought ... maybe consider something else other than the plates back on the wall. A large piece of art or a couple of complimentary pieces would likely fit so much better with your decor. The plates could still be tucked into the shelves or used elsewhere around the home.
Drilling the holes in the fire pit works great. Just place a terra cotta plant tray or stone (like a stepping stone) or brick below it. Or, set the fire pit itself on a few stones. They will catch the ashes nicely to then sweep up and pour on any tropical plants you may have.

Luke Hilarys are grt I have used them for years on 3 houses. Have purchased countless blinds of different styles & lots of shutters. Not always the cheapest but they are so reliable - quality goods - welfitted - nothing ever breaks or falldown - customer service is brilliant - keep you updated - sales people, fitters always arrive as planned. They are hassle free to deal with which is why Ihave them to deck out all my windows.

Hi Luke & Zara, Another great video, progress just about everywhere wow. A great tip on how to protect your plants and especially Hostas from those pesky slugs and snails; I saw this on a well loved weekly gardening programme. Put 6-8 separated Garlic Bulbs and and all the outer bits into a large saucepan, add 3pints water, bring to the boil, then simmer for approx 10 - 15 mins, turn off the heat, cover and leave until cold. Sieve mixture into large bowl/jug, I tend to use my potatoe masher to squeeze out the last rich bit of liquid, then pour Garlic Concentrate into empty 1 litre plastic bottle, (or multiples if batch making) store in the fridge. To Make spray: Dilute 1 part Concentrate with 2parts water into a spray bottle and blitz those pesky little blighters. Garlic liquid doesn’t kill them, it just stops them multiplying 😂. Good luck 🫶🏻 🌾🍂🥂 chin chin

I love the cushions. The pattern clash really works. And that black and white one is gorgeous, very modern, but something about the shapes makes me think of the profile of trim so absolutely perfect for a Victorian with lots of lovely trim-work.
You got a hosta! I love hostas so much, yes snails love them too. They're a spectacular plant that thrives in full shade. If you want more I'd suggest looking online in late autumn when they're dying back but before they've completely disappeared into the ground, people often divide them at that point and you can pick them up fairly cheap.

A tip for plant buying is to chose not only a healthy plant but look for one that has multiples in the pot that can potentially be separated. Years ago I bought a 4” pot of hosta and I was able to get 5 plants out of it. I’m a patient person and hosta grow bigger each year so it didn’t take but a couple of years and they were well established and getting bigger each year!

Wow! The house and garden are looking amazing! Love those lights🤩 great plant choices too. I love garden centres 😍 I'm so happy now that the weather is warm and I can plant in the garden. It's my happy place!! I bought elephant ear sage this year. Can't wait to make fried sage leaves.😋 Happy Sunday Luke, Zara and Maggie!

Hi Luke and Zara. Your ceiling lights remind me of the ights we had at our convent school, about 25 yrs ago! They are lovely, and also very bright.
Your Soho House cushion dupe, along with the green velvet were lovely.
Great taste in everything you choose. Your garden is stunning, and can only improve! X

Love the cushions and lights and outdoor rug. Not so keen on the lamp, it's a bit stubby, taller and thinner would look better IMO.

Great video. You've picked some lovely things for your home! Just a note about the life insurance, you don't have to take out life insurance to have a mortgage.

Your backyard is looking fantastic. I think you should drill a few small holes in it and then spray on a couple of coats of high heat bbq paint to prevent the rust from returning and getting worse

Luke we have Hillary’s shutters and (my husband used to work for them) are very please with them. Two things to consider though, firstly if you are having white shutters it doesn’t really benefit you having real wood so save your money and go for mdf and secondly, if you don’t order straight away they will call you and offer you a further discount as part of their marketing ploy. Hope that’s helps x

Love the lamp. You could style it on a few books to make it taller. So frustrating when works get delayed, just had a week of it and I hate having work people in but it has to be done!

Buying a home is excellent therapy!! Theres so much you can do to it and you're doing it! Zara and yourself seem so happy there. It puts a big smile on my
face! You might check usually you can get a great deal on appliances as a set if you need to replace all your kitchen appliances at one time. And they run them on sale or scratch and dent specials. See if you can find a contractors store. They usually sell to the public.

A little saucer of beer under the hostas will control the snails and slugs. Can be flat beer, does not have to be fresh. Been doing this technique for years and have hundreds of hostas in our gardens.

Looks fab already. I have an Edwardian home and we had a few of those lights too. I removed them. :) Hostas can grow in full shade and full sun. The only thing is if you have them growing in full shade you can't replant in sun...and visa versa. So plant away. They are hardy! I have many and split them every Spring so you can double your plants.. It's good for them to be split every year. Good luck with your new garden!
