What does M4 cream do (in perimenopausal, menopausal and postmenopausal women)?
    Increases collagen production
    Retains and restores skin moisture
    Increases skin firmness
    Decreases pore size
    Decreases wrinkle depth
    Increases skin elasticity
If you are well past menopause M4 CAN work for you, however it will be more slowly. One of my contacts at Alloy said she has her 75 year old mom on it and she loves it. As with everything, we have to have reasonable expectations. This isn't going to make any of us 40 again (if we are in menopause in our 50's and beyond...Hopefully you get what I am saying. I know that some of you are younger and are in menopause for various reasons).
Do yourself a favor and AT LEAST get the information. Talk to your doctor. No doc? Need a new doc? This is a resource!!
There will be women with questions regarding time frames and cancer. Please know that I cannot answer these questions. It is FREE to ask them though through Alloy. Please ask! You can't know until you ask.

Please keep talking about this subject! I started menopause at 50 and thought I had a terrible autoimmune disease. That’s how much pain I was in. I also got no sleep and it was maddening to say the least while working a full time job as a chef. I found a private dr and went on HRt. Life changing!! However, I had much difficulty in finding anyone, a doctor, especially 17-20 years ago, to prescribe, to even listen to me, it was a battle. I had to wait four years till finally I did find someone who was willing to listen to me and helped me on my path and I am for forever grateful to Suzanne Somers. I don’t think that she has gotten the accolades that she should’ve received unfortunately and she was definitely and continue to be a leader in this, so thank you Suzanne

I take progesterone tablets from a compounding pharmacy and get testosterone pellets. Within a week of starting testosterone my sex drive was back and within two months the brain fog, sleep issues and everything else resolved. Insurance doesn’t cover this which I think is crazy however, despite the cost it is a must.

I am weight training HEAVY, eating 1g of protein per body weight, carnivore diet, and of course will increase my protein as I get older, and working on my skincare routine. My goal isn't to look 20, my goal is to be healthy and happy through this transition. So many women don't understand that we have SO MUCH more control over this chapter than we think. We can support our sleep, stress, diet, exercise, sunshine, who we surround ourselves with. We have more control than we think...this doesn't have to be a hard, depressing, sad chapter, it can be an empowering one where we take control of our bodies and health.

I'm 70. Instant menopause at 45 (hysterectomy-complete). HRT for 12 yrs. No issues. Moved to Colorado and new dr nearly had a stroke because I was on HRT. That was when all the "bad" stuff about HRT was all over the news. Took a year to get off slowly. STILL have hot flashes. I have been informed by several drs that I'm just one of the "lucky" ones that will probably have hot flashes always. How wonderful. Ladies, do your homework. If you don't have a supportive doctor, then find one that aligns with your thinking.

Great comment! I went through menopause at 40 and I'm 58 now. I was never put on HRT and I now have osteoporosis. My skin is lax and saggy, way too much at my age. I wish I had been given an option or more information on menopause at my early age when I went through it. My Dr basically told me they didn't believe in HRT. Then in my early 50s my gyno told me it was too late. So frustrating that all the knowledge that is out there now wasn't really talked about 18 years ago. ❤

@@wendywoobles - I was lucky in having a female OBGYN when I had my hysterectomy. I was on HRT 2 hrs after surgery. I do think it is terrible when drs don't give you information so you can make an informed choice or have a choice at all. I wish I had not gotten off when I did. The only choice I have now that may help with flashes is to get on a SSRI which I won't do. They aren't awful anymore, just annoying. I'm sorry your dr didn't offer HRT.

I’m 76 and took HRT for a few years because I was having hot flashes, interrupted sleep etc. My doctor recommended that I stop when my periods stopped because the word at the time was that HRT might be associated with cancer. Fast forward to about 60 and I started to get some spotting. Over the next few years the doctor I had did 3 D&Cs and found nothing suspicious. Long story short on the last one there was a cell type that her office wasn’t able to explain to me. I decided to get another opinion. This doctor also did a sonogram (as had the first) and said, “Look, any bleeding post menopausally is abnormal, you also have some fluid and I don’t know why.” We did another D&C which came back positive for cancer. After a hysterectomy I also had to get chemo and radiation because it had infiltrated some level of the uterus.
The point here is that even a DNA check afterwards was negative for cancer genes. Over the next 15 years I’ve had two bowel cancers found through colonoscopies and two bowel resections. Do I think the HRT had anything to do with it? No idea. But women need to be aware of their own bodies in ways that they are not today and if they have access to testing for cancers they should get them. Now, my husband is a physician who studied at some of the best med schools in the country, had taught medicine and practiced at one of the best hospitals in the nation. So, not even doctor’s families are exempt from missed diagnoses. Get your tests and get second opinions if your symptoms aren’t addressed.
It is nice to look young but the best advice is to stay out of the sun, wear high SPF every day, reapply if you are at the beach, and start young. Otherwise as you age eat fewer carbs, more vegies and protein and trust your own knowledge of how your body is feeling and working. Life has no guarantees and women need to be their own best advocates.

I am just blown away by the number of my women friends who either never heard of HRT or were scared away by the breast cancer scare. My mother was on HRT & I took it as just normal minus using Premarin (which when my mother heard about how mares where used to make it, she stopped & changed to a different HRT).
I’m almost 60 & have been on some form or another since I first started noticing peri menopausal symptoms related to sexual function. Several years later my friends began relating how sex was no longer a part of their lives, rather married or single, since it became painful. I’d immediately tell them about HRT & how it changed everything & they’d often look at me completely stunned. Then the reverse happened leaving me incredulous & stunned when they relayed that their various doctors either refused to discuss it, told them it was just a part of aging & what they needed to live with, &/or told them the cancer risks were too high & they’d get used to it. I could not comprehend! I encouraged them to get different doctors who would LISTEN to them & treat them w/the respect they deserved. Enjoying our lives & living the best we can, including sexually, is our right as women & human beings. My 1st thought was that perhaps I was lucky as my doctor was female. However, some of my friends did have female OBGYNs. Then I thought perhaps my doctor being a naturopath had something to do w/it. But my mother’s OBGYN was not & she was of course a generation older. So thank you for this, Penny. I’ve also been using an estrogen compound on my face & neck since reading about how important it was for skin health a few years ago. Now I’m wanting to see if my prescription compound is similar to M4!

I hope every woman who looks it will do her part and share it or at least show it phisically to family and friends, to mothers, aunts, because I really think this is something we all should be aware of even if at the moment we might think it is maybe too early. It is never too early to be prepared, especially if majority of us can expect the struggle with the people whou should be there to help us and to educate us. We have to make sure that we are in a right hands of a good doctors or change them until we find the one, but we don't have to think that we are stuck with what we have and that it has to be like that and that it can't be better. It can, it is just that we have to take things under our control. And that is, I am afraid and unfortunately, the case with more and more things in our lives. I think it's extremely important for "mature" beauty influencers to bring menopause-related, HRT-related content to their audiences because it's a way to reach this age bracket with this crucial information. I will be trying M4 from Alloy, but that aside, I was blessed to find Menopause Taylor in 2020 at age 49 when I was going through issues that I didn't realize were peri-menopause. (My family practitioner kept trying to put me on anti-depressants to help me sleep.) That same year I insisted on and started HRT and am now fully menopausal. I bridged the estrogen gap, and I would have had no idea what on earth that meant if I hadn't found that channel. It's infuriating to me that so many women have never been educated on estrogen loss and the way it affects our overall health, sense of well-being, and longevity. Thank you so much for delving beyond the skin aspects and touching on the deeper issue at hand. Your content is so helpful always and now you're going above and beyond in such an important way - you're a star!

I have even had female doctors who do not understand and some who have been honest and said they themselves have questions. Imagine what help can we get if they themselves are confused. I am so scared of cancer as last August I also lost my best friend to cancer. But having so many changes and different things happening to me which I cannot explain makes me very interested in this website. Thank you for bringing all this important information to us . As an RN who experienced my own menopausal year in 2009, I used Bioidentical Hormones Therapy (BHRT) for two years prescribed by a very knowledgeable MD and specially compounded by a compounding pharmacy at the cost of $50.00/month out of pocket. I got through the shift very well and healthily. As an RN coming of age during the results of the huge "Women's Health Initiative" released in 2002. Much of the information in the WHI is valid. The entirety of the study should not be labeled "unfortunate." I do believe that a very low percentage of women need HRT for more than a few years during their shift. Estrogen for life is no longer considered a viable option. Now, at 68, I absolutely do not personally feel the need to supplement with hormones. I do use soy products quite a bit. With all due respect, I think this vid is mostly for peri and actively menopausal women. Afterward, your body adjusts. Diet, exercise, preventative health care and great skin care is where it's at for me. ❤️

Unfortunately, I'm one of those and if I'd had a doctor that truly listened to my needs and wasn't blinded by the previous research, he might have done some hormonal studies to see just what I WAS missing. Lots of studies make assumptions that 'most' women are in one of these categories and unfortunately, that's not the case. Having been a nurse, then a scientist, there is a long way to go on women's medical research front concerning hormones because it's not a one-size-fits-all approach. That's what we currently have when it actually needs to be a full bell curve to note that all not all women fit that paradigm and many are outliers.

She’s a sexual health doctor , menopause expert and any question you might have she answers. It’s changed my life and I really had no idea. I had no symptoms as far as hot flashes or headaches but I did have pain with sex and vaginal dryness. I thought something was wrong with me and I was sad. I take care of myself and pride myself on my healthy lifestyle and keep in great shape. I live in high heels and love my husband of almost 30 years. It has been a game changer and I’m happy I was armed with the knowledge from doctor Susan to talk to my doctor and she was fine with me starting HRT.

So, I read the studies on it & started mixing a bit of my Estradiol .01% prescription cream w/ a splash of the SUKOYAKA SUHADA Urea Toner just to help is spread evenly. I've only been doing it for a month and it has made a huge difference in my skin! It's plumper, bouncier and seems to take in my other serums better. The money greed and politics of the situation created a "brutal artificial obliteration" of scientific truth. Now that I'm close to 70, I'm told it's too late for me. Nothing can be done. The dryness and discomfort down under, the never-ending insomnia, crumbling bones, weak muscle response, and diminishing sexual function is "natural" and nothing can be done to reverse it. I completely lost them all (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone) in my early 30’s, again, due to stress and hidden illness (mycotoxins cause cell suicide therefore kill ATP). Hot flashes, nausea/vomiting, extreme and weird weight gain, major sleep disturbances, compounded fatigue etc. After seeing multiple doctors, I began to research integrative/functional medicine and that’s how I met my endocrinologist and GP. It was confirmed that I wasn’t even perimenopausal and prescribed precursor supplements as well as bio identical HRT! Don’t give up! IMHO, conventional MD’s are lazy, do the minimum to keep their license, don’t read the ‘manual’ (research - present and past). Integrative/fxnal medicine is anti-aging and all this biohacking healthy people do, definitely pulls chronically ill people back to health. So 100 years ago the average women would spend virtually no time 'without estrogen' whereas today she may spend 30+ years. During the first 10 years without estrogen a women's bones, brain and heart (among other organs) all suffer dramatically due to lack of estrogen. Penn is wise in recommending the book Estrogen Matters by by Dr. Avrum Bluming and Carol Tavris. Dr. Bluming is a retired oncologist who's wife had breast cancer and is a HUGE proponent of estrogen therapy for menopausal women. Carol Tavris's Wiki biography "Carol Anne Tavris is an American social psychologist and feminist. Unless you are someone who is not a candidate for HRT due to certain issues like breast cancer, you should reconsider, as it has many proven benefits that greatly improve your quality of life, as well as protection from the many diseases that we are susceptible to due to our declining/depleted estrogen levels. It's meant to last six months, she feels it wearing off, post four, says it's expensive, post implant you should keep using the gel or whatever for a few days, post the pellet implant ( doc said) Mum asked about a hormone cream a couple of years ago, told the pellets addressed the skin, etc. the only area, it wont - vagina, where tissue can become thin, sore, especially, post sex. `she also had a bone scan, recorded age 30 circa, she's 50... better than before she started her treatment! I will ask her to ask her HRT doc about this cream, it sounds like a little gem....as time passes, discoveries are found :) X

I have been on identical hormone therapy for years.. never went through a traditional menopause.. I sought out a woman naturopathic doctor.. I love my doctor .. I have blood work done twice a year.. I also do the Dutch test which also looks at hormones and adrenals as well as..DHEA.. levels..We ladies need to advocate and educate ourselves and take our health in our own hands and know what we want.. I also know not every one can do this exactly the same; depending on your family history.. But do research and learn what you can do.. It’s for our health and the health of our bones.. Also, add weight, strength training to your exercise program.. a strong body is also so important.. There are many components to our health.. if we are healthy.. our skin and hair will naturally glow..and you will feel so good..

There's only so much topical creams, eating healthy, diet, etc can do to keep one's face looking more plump, less droopy, less wrinkly, less saggy. If you want to remove the evidence of age and rewind the clock the only thing that can drastically change the fallen face is a deep facelift. I just got mine a couple months ago and i'm so glad i did. But i always had a recessed jaw so i had double chin fat even in my teens so i know i will age terribly and wanted to remove that excess skin that comes quickly when you have a thin face. Jowls and folds just increase without estrogen. I knew i wasn't going to handle more facial folds well. I used to see 60 yr old women with better skin than me because they have rounder faces and less droopy skin. I will look into hrt when that time comes

I had a total hysterectomy and went on HRT immediately. My doctor is an idiot and just does what I want. I did my own research and chose it for myself. I remember a study that was done a long time ago. It stated that we are the largest animals to live so long, beyond child-bearing years, on the planet. In my opinion, we need our hormones. I was told that HRT could cause breast cancer. It may contribute but in my opinion the good outweigh the bad. You're so right though, no one knows anything and they certainly can't give great advice. My doc told me to take a multivitamin because my bloodwork was all over the place. I asked him which one and how much and he told me to go to the store and pick one. Lol I feel better off getting advice from Reddit at this point. We do have one menopause expert in my town and I have an appointment in 4 months. We'll see. Thanks for putting in the effort to give us more to consider.

Hi Penn, I started using topical estriol and estradiol on my face 4 weeks ago (I’m in perimenopause, age51). I see a huge difference already - that plump, almost ‘waxy’ clear glass skin is coming back. I think that the combination of prepping fibroblasts with estrogen, and then stimulating them with microneedling is going to be verry interesting.

I was on HRT for 6 years from 51-57 (I’m 64 now), then developed a fibroid and polyp in my uterus, and had those removed. My dr suggested I wean from the HRT then, which I did. She said studies have shown that HRT has the most benefits for about 10 years from the start of menopause. I do use internal estrogen twice per week, but it’s not systemic.

It's so crazy how one minute your skin is fine and all of a sudden it's changing right before your eyes. It's scary and something hard to get used to but that's life! The cream doe's definitely help and she won't give her patients any pills due to the risk of cancer . Not only outside but internally a female changes.

I've taken oral estrogen for over 30 years...I'm still 30 years older, but my skin is moist and at times oily, which at 69, I embrace. (I have oily skin, and the sebum production is nice now) Paula's Choice just came out with a plant based estrogen. Of course I'm using it and its a pleasant product. I've been using Retin A for 40 years and have been sun aware for that long as well. Has this stuff worked? I think so, but like you say, Penny, it's anecdotal....My best advice is to use these products before you need them because it's easier to maintain than repair.

Kept a diary for several months and never got better with a change in diet and exercise. I am a nurse and love research, so I put my thinking cap on and soon came to the conclusion it was the bio identical drops and stopped them immediately. Soon after my blood pressure returned to normal. Another reason we need to be proactive with our healthcare! They are not meant for everybody!

I have been using topical estradiol estrogen for about 6 months. I'm almost 49. I was having side effects of too much estrogen. Now I'm estrogen dominant and had to stop using the topical treatment. Estrogen can and does absorb into your bloodstream! Estriol isn't as severe as estradiol but can still cause estrogen dominance. I'm about a month out from weaning off the estrogen cream and taking meds to help my body balance. I will get new bloodwork in August to make sure things are moving in the right direction. But in the mean time I'm praying I didn't do longterm damage to my body.

I was estrogen dominant after coming off birth control. It really did a number on me. I take DIM (metabolizes excess estrogen) and an herbal blend called PMS Comfort from Herb-Pharm that contains Chasteberry & Dong Quai which help promote Progesterone. This really helped me with bloating, cramping, acne and I sleep better too.

I'm 49 and started asking for HRT info over a year ago. I used the advice to find doctors who had education in menopause based on a site Dr. Barbie and Angie from Hot &Flash mentioned. Unfortunately, when seeing one of the doctors, she dismissed my comments about changes, permanent hotness mixed with even hotter flashes to the point I drive with the AC on even when it's 60 F, major period inconsistency with 80 day cycles with only break thru beeding, dry skin, fatique, low energy, and only 1 ovary due to endometriosis surgery,, etc. She provided no information at all and was quite condescending saying, "well your not in menopause, come back when you haven't had a period for a year." Not any other info! So recently I asked my primary doctor for info on HRT and she said all primary docs in their large network are to send women to the Sexual Health group. So now I have an appointment there this week and hope it goes better... Considering how loss of estrogen increases risk of osteoporosis and heart disease - plus heart disease being the leading cause of death for women, I would think all primary doctors should be well educated on this! Thanks Penny for the Myalloy info! I may still need to go with them after this week. 🤔

  • @sarastewart2633

This is brilliant. So good that you used someone that would demonstrate the true effects of this, rather than possibly down to something else. It's going to be great to follow along as someone the same age as her and what sounds like the same stage of peri menopause. I don't suppose this is something you can access internationally is it? I've just started HRT because I am starting to get some annoying uncommon systems. If you delve into this topic further than skin I would love something on hair loss. I am losing quite a bit of my previously very thick hair. And the constant hair fall is giving me anxiety.

My naturopath recommended progesterone because i was estrogen dominant but that was 3 years ago. Now im thinking i need another profile done to see where im at or is that even necessary?? Ive heard as well that extra estrogen will cause breast cancer , ect. I'm doing my due diligence for my fave otherwise with the help of your videos and research. As for other "areas" of my body, i could use some help for sure! I noticed that the site has help for that, I'll be looking into that!!
