Oh my goodness! A blast from the past...I was a very young mother of four that sewed everything for them (was the most affordable thing to do for clothing at the time) and I watched Nancy Zieman all the time! She helped me grow in my skills and confidence. Recently, I stumbled across your channel and have gotten the joy and excitement I once had for sewing renewed...your smile, laugh and honesty is so refreshing...thank you!❤
Great tutorial. What I learned is if I want lining different from outer fabric I have to cut it and put it together a little different. Otherwise you get a 2 tone pocket n a 2 tone lining. 🤣 however still cute. Thanks
Thank you, I love the pocket and I will be using it in the future on the dresses I will be making. You are such an amazing inspiration to me, and I never miss watching you. God Bless and have a great day.
❤ great video going to try these pockets. I always wanted to know where to put my pockets. Now I know Thankyou. Just sitting outside and enjoying my nice weather. Need to put my lables on my dresses and send them to Mari. Have a great week.
Thank you so much for this pattern! I finished up a dress and wanted something different for pockets and your video popped up in my feed at just the right time!!! Your instructions are wonderful and you show each step of the process in a way that's easy to follow. 👍
Excellent tutorial! Thank you not only for the pattern, but also for the written instructions. I came across a tutorial on these tied pockets, but yours was much easier to follow; not as confusing. ❤
Thank you sooo very much! It’s appreciated so much plus.. I found your cute Laura Ashley dress and adorable jumpsuit pattern. The legs on it are so cute plus the adorable pockets. I love your blog! Blessings! GigiW. (From Indiana with a twin daughter who lives close to you,, Bradenton area!)
I made these. Your instructions are great. I found a free pattern for a Mary Quant mini dress with interesting pockets. I’m going to put them on the dresses I’m making for Mari’s project.
Wow Jen, perfect timing! I have been wondering for a year now about the tied pockets and when you announced a few months back you were going to do a tutorial ,I did a major "happy dance". Then 3 days ago l happened across the original Laura Ashley pattern with the tied pockets while thrifting. God works little miracles dosen't he? Now I have the pattern AND a perfect tutorial from you, just in time for Project Dress a Girl!!😊 Thank you Jen!!❤
What a find! The original LA pattern! Small miracles every day! Their instructions are slightly different than mine - they put the opening into that center seam, where I moved it to the bottom of the pocket. I feel like moving it puts far less stress on that midpoint. When you look at their instructions you'll see what I mean. I can't wait to see all the tied pockets on the dresses on IG. Thanks!
I made my first tied pocket. The measuring was 5” to fit onto the pants. I can reprint larger but did it normal size. It’s too cute. Thank you for the stunning pattern and excellent tutorial. I’ll be making more for sure
Thanks Jen for this Pattern! I had made that Laura Ashley jumpsuit about 30 years ago in a cabbage rose chintz. I loved it! I will add this pocket to some dresses for sure. Just mailed 7 dresses to Mari for PDAG. So happy to be part of this! Had such fun making the dresses and hope to make more next year. Really enjoy your channel and you cheerful banter. Thanks for all you do!
Will do! The Kid (daughter #5) has been doing the graphics for me and took her sweet time. It's up now and here's the link: drive.google.com/file/d/18d14Wj1uEU4iGt5Af1Jkiuisn4HdXr7u/view
Thank you so much and perfect timing because I’m working on one of these dresses tonight and was wondering what to do about pockets!! Great tutorial too - you really explained everything super clearly. I’ll let you know how I get on! 💞xx
Please do! Because you know how it goes - you do the tutorial and spend the next several hours thinking about all the stuff you missed and didn't say or didn't explain clearly - it's maddening -
Hi Jen, thank you for the tutorial. I will definitely make this for my granddaughter, however, I'd love to make it for myself as well. Do you have an adult size pattern for us as well? Thank you.
Once again, here are the links to the pattern and instructions for this pocket: The downloadable PDF's: Pocket instructions: drive.google.com/file/d/1GVjEUQzVLTvnJ68KAjCLCJ04AGgQqQw_/view Pocket Pattern piece: drive.google.com/file/d/1K6X5Zn9Y3wWTd79VdP-HaljDfC7GQitA/view And the Adult sized pattern: drive.google.com/file/d/18d14Wj1uEU4iGt5Af1Jkiuisn4HdXr7u/view
Could you please tell me what the measurement is between corner to corner (or notch to notch)? I've printed the pdf at 100% and my measurement is 9 1/4 inches from corner to corner and your pocket looks wider than that. Thank you.

❤ thank you!
I love your lemon dress. Can u share the pattern number u used? I’ve gone through your previous videos but can’t find it. Ty
Sure! It's New Look 6263. Sadly out of print now. New Look does that pretty quickly - they keep some forever but take really good ones away!
Could you please tell me what the measurement is between corner to corner (or notch to notch)? I've printed the pdf at 100% and my measurement is 9 1/4 inches from corner to corner and your pocket looks wider than that. Thank you.
Why do you clip the curves again? Isn’t that what the pinking shears do?
Yes - I just wanted you to see where to clip them.
